[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Has anyone actually been able to get Link to the Past yet? When i log onto club nintendo, it shows all 4 games as rewards, but when i go to the rewards page it only shows 2 games, cubello and rolling western. If i try to click on zelda from the main page, it says sorry not available. WTF is going on?
Yup got it, but when I first went in the main page just showed last month's games...when I clicked on the actual rewards page they updated to the new ones but the page was loading weird and messed up.

Do I have to have a Wiimote to play games in Wii mode? I don't have one, but would love to play LTTP on the Gamepad.
Wasn't there something in the latest update for that? Not sure though, but check into it... Otherwise yes you'd need either a Wiimote or classic controller (which I guess uses the wiimote anyway, so). Could just get a cheap used one someplace and sanitize it really good before use.

SNES games on the Wii VC use the Classic Controller or the Gamecube one. But in the Wii U I would say that you would use the former.
Damn, that sucks. Not gonna buy a fuckin controller to play a mad old game lol even if it is one of my favorites

Nintendo really needs to start working their shit out.

Well I was feeling a little dumb for forgetting to decide if I wanted Zelda or not but Dillon's and ALTTP is much better use of coins.

Yeah man, they should be forward thinking and include GameCube controller ports on every new home console they release!

Seriously, :wii: Classic Controllers are $20, tops. Suck it up and buy one.

Hey people, anyone having this problem?

I'm trying to redeem the Metroid code for the 3DS but it gives me an error when I try to <_<

007-1217

The software that corresponds to the code you entered is not currently being distributed

Congrats to those who don't have Zelda already as that is a great pick up. Any thoughts on Cubello? I'm sitting on 900 points and am itching to redeem for something.

Or you can pay another $1.25 or so and upgrade it to the Wii U version with gamepad support.

Also, your calling out of Nintendo is both silly and stupid. Nintendo brought Wii support COMPLETELY to the Wii U. Controllers work (wiimote, wiimote plus, classic, classic pro), games work, dashboards / downloads / everything besides GC stuff works. The thing is, Sony / M$ pretty much dropped everything (new cameras, new controllers, new architecture, no BC, DL's don't work) and with the exception of the DS4, nothing works in the past (mind you, the DS4 isn't even 100% working on the PS3 either).

Yeah man, they should be forward thinking and include GameCube controller ports on every new home console they release!

Or free with purchase of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at Capcom Unity...

Why would I want a Gamecube controller? LOL I just want to use the gamepad that came WITH MY SYSTEM. Surely, this is an outright ridiculous thing to want! Your comment has truly risen the standard of excellence in these hallowed forums of yore.

Pretty sure ALTTP has not been added to the Wii U VC yet, but I don't suspect it will be much longer since Zelda 1 and 2 are on there.
Right. If this was available I would totally do it.

And Admiral, I don't think it is "Silly and stupid" to want to play the game on my Gamepad. I think that's taking it pretty far. If that was the case, wanting an account system or cross-buy would also be silly and stupid. I don't know if you said it out of spite or if you genuinely believe it is a stupid thing to want.

IS that the same Metroid as the Ambassador program?

Dillions Rolling western - is that the full game?

Am I the only one getting "This item is not currently available" and "Sorry" redeem button for Zelda ALTTP? Did they ran out of codes?!

Geez, first the 3DS XL charging cradle and now this. :(

People having problems with their codes, you should be able to redeem them now. My Metroid code just worked, so I imagine the others should too.

Are you talking about that offer that DRI botched terribly?
Speak for yourself... I preordered my copy of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate from there and got it on Friday before release. Came with the controller and everything.

My comment was meant as a general "you can upgrade these games" and nothing more. I have no doubts that all CN offered games will be upgradable at some point, since it's an easy way to cash in.

Nintendrones are hilarious. You should just learn to ignore them, Dan.

You CAN play Wii VC games on the gamepad, but you have to use the remote and classic controller separately to control the game. So basically you make the Gamepad into a tiny TV. I assume they didn't just make the Gamepad controls emulate a Classic Controller because it would remove a lot of the value of the Wii U VC games if it could do that. Or maybe there are technical difficulties making this impossible, I don't really know.

Well that was then. About a month ago they put it on sale with the controller without actually having any controllers or planning to get any more. I didn't cancel mine since it was still marginally cheaper than getting just the game and it still hasn't shipped.

I don't see how those things are silly, stupid or related.

These are Wii versions, not Wii U, so your point of playing it on the gamepad is IRfuckINGRELEVANT. However, you can freely play it on the Wii side of things with the classic controller or in some cases the Wiimote (I believe). Down the road or in some cases currently, you can also pay the fee to upgrade it for gamepad support. In either case, I stand by it's silly and stupid to call Nintendo out for dropping GC support, you not owning a classic controller or pro controller, disliking that it doesn't natively work with the gamepad or anything of the like.

Sigh~ I don't want to argue about this. I just brought up an example in the past where one was free. I don't want to do hours of research just to verify that everything I say is 100% relevant to the point in time I say it. At the same time people were ordering those games, I recall people mentioning Dragon's Dogma came with the bobble bud thing, though they removed it from the site at that point. Shit happens.

If I can open up Dolphin and play Wii games on my Dualshock, my 360 pad, my Mad Catz FIghtsick, my logitech basic controller, my mouse and keyboard or even my godamn Thrustmaster FlightStick with Throttle.. then Nintendo can type a few lines of code and allow gamepad support.

ESPECIALLY when all of this is available through an extremely small group of fans, not one of the biggest gaming companies in the world.

What admiral said. The game is a for the Wii virtual console, not the Wii U virtual console. Expecting game pad support for a game that is for a Wii (which through the Wii app can be played on the Wii U) is silly. They may add it later to the Wii U virtual console though, and then it is okay to expect game pad support.

Oh another armchair engineer/programmer. What sort of purpose is there to assume that doing xyz is easy and the only reason they don't do it is laziness when you have no actual knowledge of the process?

You just made that sound like a viable option by which someone could obtain a CCP still.

I apologize for getting things off-topic. I have a hard time not replying when my intelligence is insulted. Ultimately, I guess I have no problem with anyone believing what I think is silly or stupid on the internet. If we could just carry on and get back to the deals, it would be for the best. :)

We all think everyone else is stupid, it's what makes the internet go round.

Am I the only one getting "This item is not currently available" and "Sorry" redeem button for Zelda ALTTP? Did they ran out of codes?!

Geez, first the 3DS XL charging cradle and now this. :(
I'm getting the same thing, which is especially annoying since I've been waiting all year for this.

I guess the question should be, is anybody not having this problem?

Guess you were wrong this time around bro.
My god, is it attack me day?

Seriously, I only speak for myself and the concept of disappointing is based off MY OPINION and no one else's. I still think the games are disappointing and if you want to post some proof that I am contradicting myself, then you can freely call me out, but I don't care for people waiting to call out someone for being "helpful", because I totally mentioned after that "I don't know what information you're expecting us to have, but I sincerely doubt anyone on CAG knows what the next games will be. However, these games have historically sucked, so it stands to reason the next games will too. "
