[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Wow, balloon fight counts? Guess I might just get it and put it towards NES Remix.

Cool, thanks!

be careful read the club nintendo policy they can cancel your account if you take advantage of things (add more accounts than people you have they will know)
hmm I'm not trying to set up more accounts.
just wondering whether it's better to combine my brother's accounts under a Family account or leave his as a standalone

quick question. I redeemed Link to the past a few weeks ago. I was gonna go enter it onto my Wii but before i did, I was wondering how their DRM works. Is it basically like the 3ds where its totally locked to 1 console only and you cant use it anywhere else? Or could i also play on another wii or a wii u if i get one later?

You can do a system transfer like the 3DS but otherwise it's tied to one console at a time. Once you get a WiiU you can transfer all the Wii stuff to it as well.

a little late in the game here but how long as the link between both worlds have been OOS for? finally got to up 420 coins and its sold out. shouldnt have procrastinated on the coins :wall:
Okay, I feel like I missed something here. Was there some Zelda item available that is already sold out? Are you talking about the posters (I just checked and saw those before I posted this)? Do people actually want posters? I'd NEVER spend my limited coins on posters. That seems beyond foolish. If you can get an image of the poster you could always print one out yourself.

Still waiting on my CD to arrive. I got the shipment confirmation, but it always takes at least a couple weeks to arrive after that.

Yes, this - what are you guys talking about? "link between both worlds" makes me think they had the new 3DS game up there for a bit and it sold out quickly as I would expect. Tell me I didn't miss that.

No, it was a three poster set Nintendo had up on Club Nintendo about a month ago. Much like the 3DS XL charging cradles, they sold like gangbusters. They were very nice posters too.

Ah, OK, thanks. Yeah, posters I don't care about. I did want one of those XL charging cradles but I missed it by days - just forgot about it. I seem to be using my coins up for the games so that is probably just as well.

If you really want a charging cradle for your 3DS XL, Nintendo sells them on their site for $19 + shipping. It only comes in black, however.

I'm with you - I'd rather have the downloadable games than anything else. Still feel 200 coins for Balloon Fight is too expensive, however. If it was 150, I would have grabbed it as soon as it appeared.

I originally wanted it just because it was special and unique. But after thinking about it, at least to me, it's absolutely pointless. I never would 'dock' my 3DS overnight, and when it does need a charge, usually I'm in a gaming session and plug it in while I play, defeating the entire purpose of the dock.

If anyone has a sealed copy of Kid Icarus: Uprising, I'm willing to trade my Majora's Mask soundtrack for it. Also will hear other offers via PM.

Still waiting for my CD. I was able to track it a few days ago per the Nintendo site, but now it can't find the order, so I'm a little worried. Hopefully it comes in the next couple of days.

It's happened to me a lot now. Same with the Kirby coin, don't offer shit if there's 2 in stock for 1,000,000 members.
You mad? I got a Kirby coin and the fact that there's a very limited supply makes it cooler.

on another notes, my posters were destroyed.

I received my soundtrack crack-free, fortunately. It's a little surprising that Nintendo would just toss the thing into a cruddy bubble mailer. Anyone with a cracked soundtrack should definitely call up their customer support. I'd bet Nintendo would be willing to compensate in some fashion.

I'm okay with them having limited stock, I just wish they offered it in a better fashion. I was working with the Kirby Medal was released and it was gone before I knew anything about it. It would have been nice if, for something that limited, they had left it open for at least 24 hours, then randomly awarded winners from everyone who signed up (and had enough coins)...

WHOA NOW! Thats not fair. They FLAT OUT STATED the Kirby coin was LE 1,000. I am okay if they state it is a short term item, so I don't sit on my hands thinking "would I use the charger cradle?", "Why would I want a golden nunchuk?" "Is that Luigi statue really worth it? Will something better release?" I had the simple knowledge that it was now or never. Wish more short term items had an edition size, though I still wonder if it was 1,000 or actually 333/334.

So I was playing a bit of the GB Donkey Kong game that was up on CN a couple months ago and I see why people were saying it's worthwhile.  Really not what I was expecting.  Same to say that it's the first time I ever beat that first iconic level of Donkey Kong.  I sucked at arcade games as a kid.

I don't know why anyone expected them to ship any different, of course they're going to use the cheapest method available... What do you want them to do, wrap them in wool & ship them in a titanium box?

Order a CD from Amazon or eBay or wherever, 9 times out 10 it's going to arrive in a "cruddy bubble mailer". Just be glad they didn't ship them in their customary plastic bags.

Anyone who received a damaged CD, have you contacted Nintendo yet and did they offer a replacement?

My CD arrived today with the back of it smashed.

I'm about to hit platiunum status for the first and most likely last time ever. It looks like theyre counting it towards 2014, when does nintendo usually release a list of the rewards for gold/plat. members for the year? sometime early jan. I would imagine?

Not even close. July. Because that's when the CN year ends.

True, I forgot that they normally ship items in those bags, so I guess the bubble mailer is a step-up. The ideal method would have been a cardboard box, but, like you said, it definitely wouldn't have been their cheapest option. You're definitely right on the eBay sellers. I always have to request a box for various purchases I make to ensure nothing arrives damaged.

I'm curious to see if they take any kind of action in response to the damaged CDs, since it seems to be fairly common among people receiving them.

It's ridiculous how Nintendo shipped them, it's blatantly obvious most will be damaged. It's a thin plastic jewel case with no protection, it's extremely easy to crush and crack them. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints.

Calling it ridiculous is a bit far, it's just the way things like this are normally shipped.

The only reason people really care is b/c it's a bit of a collector's item. I do feel for you guys as you never want to receive something damaged, but unless you plan on reselling it's really not that big of a deal, the disc should be fine and you can just swap out the case.

Asking for a repleacement for every cracked case is just going to cost them even more money, and just gives them more of a reason to stop doing what they do entirely. I'm torn on this as I'm a collector myself and I get it, but I also think some of you are over reacting.

The only reason people really care is b/c it's a bit of a collector's item. I do feel for you guys as you never want to receive something damaged, but unless you plan on reselling it's really not that big of a deal, the disc should be fine and you can just swap out the case.

I'm a man of morals and principles. If an item like this is unique, a one time only 'prize', it should not be shipped like every other generic item. Caution and care should be the priority.

It's ridiculous how Nintendo shipped them, it's blatantly obvious most will be damaged. It's a thin plastic jewel case with no protection, it's extremely easy to crush and crack them. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints.
How is it blatantly obvious most will be damaged? Yes, some will be damaged, but you could send the thing in a cardboard box wrapped with bubble wrap and it's still possible to get a damaged CD.

I like how everyone defends Club Nintendo's bullshit (the legitimate stuff, like crappy prizes, lack of prizes, poor website, etc) as it's a free program, but are willing to crucify Reggie for not shipping free prizes in a perfectly safe way.

Elite rewards are a "good will" gesture from Nintendo and don't really "correct" any of the problems with the program. They don't reduce liability (really only add to it), they don't cost you anything extra to obtain, they're typically worth more than the average prize (as they're limited in nature and less people will get one) and just cost Nintendo money. Yeah, it would be nice if they shipped them better, but that is the least of the problems with Club Nintnedo.

As others have noted, it comes in a bubble mailer, which is different than most of them. However, most items from CN are unique and many are one time only.

Hah, that was going to be my exact retort to him.

Yes, CN is screwed up on many levels - but IMO shipping is one of the least of them and is probably the thing I'd want them to fix last.

nintendo is awesome okay i cannot complain after they reinstated my account after it was obviously my fault best customer service ever and great rewards i cannot say nothing bad about them Sony and Microsoft cannot even compete

I got my Zelda Majora's Mask OST today. Mint condition no cracks.

I love the artwork on this soundtrack. I probably have like half a dozen or so soundtracks and box art wise this is my favorite. Probably music too since it is Zelda after all.
