[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here.

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Finally made it up to Gold Status....  this will be the first time I get any rewards from them for it... Still wondering if I should get the 3ds game case set.

Late to the party but decided to go ahead and order the AC Game Card case. So from my understanding it comes with three double sided printouts and you choose which to use as the insert for the case, correct?

Yeah, you are correct. Three inserts containing different images, which are displayed on the site.

Thanks. I will use the Mario/Luigi printout with my case. Didn't see the Zelda one before it went out of stock or I would have got it for the GF as she loves Zelda. I dont understand why they just can't include the printout of Zelda still lol.

just wanted to let you guys who got lucky enough to order the Luigi figurine i got confirmation it was shipping = ) i called because last i checked these werent coming until march but oh behold they are shipping them im sooooo excited!

Yeah, I'm sure it would be easier to let you choose the inserts, but maybe it just takes more time rather than having them ready to go.

or maybe even sell you the inserts, its the same thing case just inserts lol.

Sorry this is kind of off topic, but I think you guys are the right people to ask this question: Does Wind Waker HD and Mario + Sonic at the Sochi (Wii U) come with physical game manuals? I just bought them preowned at Gamestop and neither had a manual. I know A Link Between Worlds didn't come with a real manual, but that would suck if they started doing that with Wii-U games also.

I had a b2g1 coupon (from renewing PUR) and got Metroid Prime Trilogy as the third game (steelbook version  )

I really like the Mario/Luigi printout. I like the game case so much that I decided to order the Zelda case as well (of course it was sold out :wall: ). I just ended up ordering another Animal Crossing case. I'll use the artwork with the mushroom guy and turtle dude for this one. I haven't played any Animal Crossing game before, but I have one of them for the Gamecube and one of them for the Wii. I bet if I played them, I'd like the club Nintendo artwork a lot.

So are F-Zero and 1080 actually Wii-U games or are they Wii games like Super Mario Bros 2 last month?

Edit: I guess 1080 is a Wii game. Am I crazy for downloading it on the original Wii so that I can use the Gamecube controller to play it?

Can you use the Wii U Pro Controller to play Wii games in Wii mode?

Do the Virtual Console games actually look that much better upscaled on the Wii-U vs the classic Wii with component cables?

When you "upgrade" Wii Virtual Console games on the Wii-U for $1.50, is there any other improvement besides being able to play on the Gamepad?

Sorry if these questions have already been answered 50 times in the last 355 pages. I didn't see the answers to these in the basic FAQ in the OP.

Only F-Zero is a Wii U Virtual Console title. No Nintendo 64 games are on the Wii U Virtual Console as of yet, which boggles my mind after the system being out for over a year.

The Wii U Pro Controller can only be used on the Wii U. No compatibility with the system in Wii Mode.

The Virtual Console games look fairly good upscaled on the Wii U, at least much better than the actual system hooked up via AV cables on a HDTV (as in, clear and not like the screen was smeared in Vaseline).

The improvements of the Virtual Console games on Wii U over the Wii is not only GamePad Off-TV play, but also being able to save the game via save point anytime you want as opposed to getting one automatically by pressing the home button and going to the menu.

Thanks so much for answering all of my questions. Now I need to work on transferring my games to the Wii-U. It sounds like it's worth it to get rid of the "smeared in Vaseline" look and to have save points. I was just playing F-Zero and it was nice to be able to save halfway through a Grand Prix and pick it up again later on from where I left off. Thanks again.

If you're going to transfer all your Wii Shop purchases to your Wii U, make sure you follow the directions very carefully. If worse comes to worse, hopefully you have all your purchases registered to your Club Nintendo account because Nintendo will transfer it to your Wii U. Just a forewarning: anything you have in vWii on your Wii U will get overwritten, so make sure you keep a record of what you have on their now. You may need to call customer service anyway to have that recovered for you. I would suggest telling them to give you the downloads via redeemable codes so you won't run into that problem again.

Good luck.

Got a question, I only own a Wii, but I'd like to get F-Zero with my Club Nintendo points.  F-Zero is available as a WiiU title. but could I use the Club Nintendo code to download it on my regular Wii?

Unfortunately, no. It is a code only redeemable on the Wii U.

Sincerely thank you for this advice. I assumed this stuff wouldn't be a problem. I don't have any of my games registered with Club Nintendo. On my Wii-U I have Wii Fit U (unlocked with Fit Meter) and F-Zero. I'd hate to run into any problems. I think I'll just leave well enough alone and keep the games on the Wii.

I think you misunderstood me with that last part. If you have nothing as far as downloadables redeemed on the Wii mode side of your Wii U, then transferring everything you have from your Wii to your Wii U will be no problem. Anything you downloaded from the eShop on the Wii U when the system is in its basic mode will be fine.

The only reason why I mentioned it is because before I called Nintendo to see if they can recover everything I purchased from the Wii Shop when I had a Wii (I no longer had it), I had games downloaded from the Wii Shop that I obtained via Club Nintendo codes. If you were to do a system transfer right now, nothing that you downloaded on your Wii U via the Wii U eShop will be affected - only the Wii Shop stuff when the system is in virtual Wii mode.

My current problem is with 2 registration surveys not showing up for games I bought on 3DS eShop. The games are Donkey Kong (NES) and Game and Watch Donkey Kong Jr. I bought them in december on sale, along with a few other VC games. They all had registration surveys and showed up in my Club Nintendo coin history, except the above two games. I DID however receive post play surveys for them like normal, but I didn't complete them yet.

I finally called Nintendo yesterday to ask why this happened. First the guy said those games aren't eligible for coins. After I explained that I got post play surveys for them, and that all the other VC games I've bought were eligible, he retracted that answer. I gave him my info, and he said he would send it to the tech support team, and said I should hear back in 2-3 days.

I got an email overnight that says my problem has been resolved! That was fast, I thought. So I logged into Club Nintendo and the first thing I see is a registration survey for a pink DSlite...worth 0 coins :/

I'm going to call again today.
I have been putting off calling back about this. Has anyone else had VC games not show up in Club Nintendo purchase history, and not receive registration surveys for them? It only happened for these two games.

Has anyone gotten their Game Cases?

Are they worth it?

I'm interested in them, currently only have a couple of the travel ones that only hold 4 carts each.

Plus, you get some cool artwork with it.

Very much worth it. I have 13 3DS games and just filed the other spots with regular DS games. Debating on ordering another one, though I really wish I could get the Zelda one.

I wish they still had Zelda too (or at least a PDF download of the artwork so I could print the Zelda covers). Anyone have a scanner and some spare time? ;-)

I think these cases will be great to have if gamestop ever discounts ds games like they discounted GameCube and ps2 games. If they do that someday, I am going to have a lot of cart only games. DS carts don't take a lot of shelf space and I bet they still sell very well, so guess I'm talking about years from now.

I got 3 of the 3DS Zelda cases for selling later on. Never knew Nintendo games could give me decent rebates on my purchases.
Getting 30 rewards points for buying a $30 dollar game isn´t what I would call decent rebates. Getting 3 cases means you spent more then a grand on Nintendo games. If you call getting $70 bucks back after spending over a grand then lol.

My flyer miles is decent rebates.

Its decent when you get the CN codes for free. Last year I hit platinum and didn´t purchase not a single Nintendo game.

You might have luck over at the cover Project. Someone who has a good scanner would probably make that request of yours.

I might do something like that myself so I can save my CN points for something I really want.

The majority of the points came from x2 wii u and x2 3ds xl console purchases for me and my brother. I def didn't buy no grand worth of games =P

edit: Although the bestbuy buy 2 get 1 free used game sale did make me buy like 12 3ds games (all came with original cases at least and 5 had unused club nintendo codes, pretty good deal)

That´s still the samething. You still spent over a grand on Nintendo items whether it was systems or games doesn´t really matter.

Not to mention if you factor in that Sony and Microsoft don´t have a rewards program they almost don´t need to as those games actually go on sale for good prices.

It's still a decent reward system, probably the best of the big 3.

I really wish I hadn't wasted 400 points on that stupid Pikmin tote.

I love my charge cradle though, glad I got one of those.

I really want one of those cases, I'm so close to 400, I hope it doesn't go out of stock before I can get the points

I would rather have no reward system and have the games drop in Price and go on sale more like Sony´s systems do.

Its hard to get good deals on 1st party Nintendo games.

So you're saying the only reason why Nintendo games don't have a ton of price drops is because of Club Nintendo?

It was $560 in consoles ($140 + $140 for two Toys R US Skylanders Wii U's after ebaying the BS it came with. Also another $140 + $140 for the Target Black Friday LOZ 3DS XL after selling the ALBW download code.) But yea we both spent a good chunk of dough on 3DS XL and WII U shit this year. It was totally worth it though, IMO 3DS is best console out right now game wise, Wii U is also great console to.

Probably get around $100 bucks profit for the x3 Zelda 3DS cases in a couple months, around $45 bucks profit from the Club Nintendo Link Between Worlds poster set, Will probably end up with 25% our loots back from those Club Nintendo items alone, not to bad I'd say. Also x2 Club Nintendo Platinum gifts later this year.

Also curious, how do you get free Club Nintendo codes to Platinum every year? You work @ Gamestop or just get codes from friends / family or something?

I get free codes from friends. Normally I just ask them. A lot of people don´t even redeem their codes.

I got the Zelda Majora´s mask soundtrack for free and Im still like mehhh lol. Same with the Kirby Medal last year.

I didn´t even own a New Nintendo system till the end of 2013 and got two limited edition 3DS zelda and Luigi. I still haven´t redeemed my points come to think of it. On Zelda I wont since it is staying sealed.

Aside from asking friends I don´t go too far out of my way for them. Another example is I am out of the country right now in South America and all the games down here are USA región and no one redeems the CN codes here.

just using your figures that equates to 7% back, i'd think youd be pretty hard pressed to name me one credit card that pays that....

I get more then that with my Delta flyer miles. I been doing a lot of flying the last year. Now I also have a trip planned to Japan.

And that´s also not 7% because I said over a grand not a grand.

1 CN point equates to $1.00 USD

It even says so when you confirm your order it lists it in USD prices.

Those 3DS cases are $400.00 USD in CN points. Which means 3 cases is $1,200 USD worth of CN points.

You don't have to pay retail price to get CN codes....

All of my points have been free, trade, or from buying used games

Edit:

And, well. 2 3DS XLs

Same for me. I am just saying in the way the system works. You can´t determine if someone bought the game used or in my case just handed free CN codes.

Wow. I love the direction of this thread. No one will even acknowledge my question.
Thanks guys.
No, the scenario that you are in has not happened to me. I don't really buy digital copies or VC games though. Probably hasn't happened to too many other people either, because I would think someone would have answered you if they could help.

You should probably stop putting off calling them, and call them. Not that it helped the other guy very much, but maybe you can get a hold of someone competent.

Thanks for responding. I was just feeling ignored. I know it's only 20 coins, but it's annoying. Plus I would like to have a record on CN that I bought them, in case I ever need it in the future.
Anyone know a cheap or free way to get 10 CN points? I'm 10 away from one of those Pouches for my 3DS
And Pokemon Transporter if you don't already have it. You're offered 5 coins per Product Registration Survey.

Thanks from me also for those suggestions. I'm 5 from plat and have neither. Ill Save LBW and BD for July.
