[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Thanks for responding. I was just feeling ignored. I know it's only 20 coins, but it's annoying. Plus I would like to have a record on CN that I bought them, in case I ever need it in the future.
I would have never called them about some random game not showing up with a registration survey. I would have assumed that it didn't qualify for that particular survey. Hell, I don't even pay that close attention to surveys for digital games like that. I log in once in a while and fill out the surveys that are available. As a matter of fact, I don't think digital downloads have anything but post play surveys?

No digital games have registration as well. Have one for Monster Hunter 3U and Giana Sisters in my queue right now.

Is there some sort of ratio for Club Nintendo coins and USD? I have a huge amount of coins I'm looking to sell (college loans suck) but I'm not really sure what the pricing model is.

I'm going to guess a DSi game nobody really wants, and maybe the 3D Urban Champion for the 3DS side, with the Wii/Wii U side being something that probably sold for 30 cents during that promotion, and maybe something decent but only for the Wii/vWii.

Like the last few...

Hopefully, Nintendo proves me wrong (in a good way).

Assuming they don't get delayed for the third straight month.
Funny because EVERY SINGLE TIME I've been around looking on the day they're supposed to expire/turnover they've always been "delayed". Not once have they (again, while I'm paying attention) turned around on the correct day.

Just find it funny because why even put the dates? I mean this week it was on a Sunday so it's somewhat excusable, but I mean don't they own a calendar?

Quick question that I am sure has been asked a million times - it says I am currently "platinum" and I got the Marjora's Mask Soundtrack.  Should I hold off from redeeming codes until everything resets in July?  Or, will what I redeem now go towards my Platinum/Gold status for 2014?

Thanks!

Wait, what? You got the OST for LAST year's reward...so are you currently plat for 2014 or do you mean you were last year? If you're plat for THIS current reward period and have a bunch of codes then yes...if you don't see anything you want in the normal rewards don't enter them. You should hold off until you either see a normal reward you want or until this reward period is over this summer.

Yeah, I guess so.  It says "platinum" but I wasn't sure if the OST I received was for the current year until July.  The reset date/when you receive the rewards is a bit confusing.

The OST was last year, which ended June/July 2013. The annual period ends in June/July and the rewards are usually sent out by the end of the year. If you are already Platinum, that applies to this year and you will qualify for this year's reward.

Maybe like 5 bucks for every 100 coins. IDK, the rewards kinda suck most of the time but sometimes there's interesting things.

I maintain Super Mario RPG would work fine on the 3DS. As a non-WiiU owner, that's all I want! And I think that was a reward for WiiU before...

Anyway, nothing for me this month. I'm 10 coins away from the 3DS game case which I should get with Bravely Default's post-play next week.

Super Mario RPG is an awesome game, but was already offered previously (less than a year ago in fact). Nothing for me again..

Just putting it out there, if anyone has codes for Metroid 2 or Kirby's Dreamworld (Gameboy games that were previous CN rewards), I would give you any of the current games that are on offer or a CN code for a 3DS XL.

:wii: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - 200

that would sold  like crazy if it was  on the 3ds ... come on nintnedo  put out  some good RPG for the  3ds download shop

i still remember  getting this game   2 weeks after it came out at a pawn shop for 8 bucks  Was shocked to find it and was about to buy it for 50

man  those were the good old days  played it from like 5pm to 5am the first day i got it

Does anyone have Nintendo Coins for sale/trade at a reasonable price? I just got a 3DS a week ago and a few games, but I figure I'd try to get to platinum or whatever status this year since I am already half way there.

Somebody really slidecaged up this whole sarcasm font thing. Did that story happen or not?!?

Nintendo fanboy.....first of all these things aren't "free"....you have to spend money on products to acquire points....thats not free....and yes...the "rewards" suck.....regardless if they are free or not....
Agree. I am saving my coins for something good. If Mario RPG was on 3DS maybe I´d be tempted. It doesn´t even make sense that they put it on console over handheld.

If the rewards... suck why are you... in this topic?... Lol!!!

Lol!!! Typical ...un original Internet drone ...calls someone a fanboy... for making a comment unlike theirs. Lol!!! Yes he is a fanboy... for liking the games that ...are offered. Lol!!!

Not gonna....lie....I am.....a...fan...boy....yes.... . . . . .

Seriously? Nintendo doesn't even need to do this, they're making millions, prolly billions anyway. This is just a little something on the side for us to enjoy and if you don't enjoy it, don't buy their shit.

I'm in here because I own a 3DS XL and was hoping to use my points on something significant....and guess what?....there isn't....if you can't see that these "rewards" are lackluster....then I don't know what to tell you....and I didn't call him a fanboy for disagreeing with me...I called him a fanboy because he seemed to get a little defensive when I stated my opinion....thats typical fanboy behavior....

What's with.....the unnecessary.....ellipses and why.....are you so hung up.....on making others see.....the negative in Club Nintendo?

Seriously, do we need this argument again?

Some people think Club Nintendo is free, others think it isn't. Perception is reality. If you think it is free, then it is free and vice versa.

Some people think the prizes suck, a small minority praises Nintendo. Again, perception is reality. It really all depends on what items you want. If you want games that were $.30 for the 30th anny of Nintendo or old classics, then the games are awesome. If you had your fill a decade ago or own several copies, then the prizes will not appeal to you. Same goes for every prize listed. If you don't have a lot of friends, buy a lot of 3DS games, own an XL, have any interest in framing a picture, or like Luigi, then yes, the prizes are awful. However, some people meet one of those conditions and enjoy their reward.

Come the end of the day, you won't be able to win this argument or convince anyone of anything. As I mentioned twice already, however you perceive reality is how it is. Everyone defines free differently, everyone defines good differently and some people like some of the worst prizes ever (I still think the cards are really cool. =\). In the end, just agree to disagree and move on.

What's with.....the unnecessary.....ellipses and why.....are you so hung up.....on making others see.....the negative in Club Nintendo?
If you are a fan of a certain company wouldn't have high expectations and standards?....I'm sorry expect more than Donkey Kong Jr. and whatever that other game was....sorry for holding Nintendo to a certain standard.
