[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Am I crazy? I see Bonsai Barber was 150 points in July 2012. I guess Nintendo eshop games go UP in value over time. I guess it's weird how XBLA and PSN traditionally reduce the price of digital games over the years.
They've been raising the prices on nearly everything. I'm actually shocked the little basket is only 700 and not 1000 since it was 700 last time.

In the past year / year and a half Nintendo has been raising the price of everything. I believe it all started with the Pikmin 3 tote, which is practical the same as the 250 coin mushroom tote, but now costs 400. The most alarming change was probably the 3DS game case (same 250 to 400 upgrade), since it's one of the simpler / cheaper to make items on Club Nintendo.

It makes sense that Nintendo needs to raise the price, since 250 coins was a lot more 2 - 3 years ago, but with so few options I can understand disliking it.

I was shocked it was 700 in the first place. When I first saw it relisted I said to myself "no way that was originally 700 coins". Certainly makes me wonder if I should spend some of my coins now, since I have 600 or so expiring this year.

I can highly recommend the Super Mario basket. I got one when they first released, and it's actually very nice. Worth 700 coins I'd say.

I bought the Link Between World posters the other day, I have 500 coins left. I'm really tempted to buy the Animal Crossing 3DS pouch as they look really good. I'm just afraid with the recent stockings that they'll actually stock something I REALLY want (3DS charging cradle, mainly). Kinda tempted to cancel my LBW backorder too, but eh..

While I am interested in Number Battle (and remember being interested when the game came out years ago), with Nintendo soon taking DSiware games offline, there isn't a lot of point in buying this. There is a story mode, but the online mode will soon be unplayable. I believe I'll pass on this.

Bunch of nothing for me. I will advise against that Yoshi game. I paid 30 cents for it and felt ripped off. Very lame/barebones puzzle game. Really hoping for a restock on the 3DS game cases (either the big one or that one that comes with stylus' that they recently added to the "out of stock" section).

No kidding, I also got it for 30 cent and it isn't worth that (but I was a big fan of their 30 cent, so I got ALL of them anyways). Most puzzle games can keep me occupied at least a little while, but this one ... nothing. Performance is terrible (even for an NES game) and the mechanics are just not very compelling. Skip it.

Kid Icarus sounds decent, but I have the 3D classic from a while back and never play it (I beat the original back in the day). I guess I'll keep hoarding points for now. Not every month is a winner, but most months at least one of them is something I want so I can't complain.

Right after I order those posters they put up an accessory bag in  the store, bah! Anyway, I have my doubts but wanted to know if it was possible to create links of some sort in the Wii U menu to Wii VC games. It's not a huge deal but Its a bit of a pain to launch the Wii menu to get to those VC games. Is there any linking or shortcuts available?

I second the Yoshi comment. This game really is not worth the $.30 I spent on it. But I did get some CN points out of it.

Anyone know if there are more games coming to Wiiware and DSiware? I still have over 2000 of points for both systems each. If not, I'll find something to buy.

Myths and Monsters is like $4 right? I don't know, I don't think $4 is worth 150 coins for me (100 is a bit closer). I'm just glad I got Super Mario RPG instead of waiting for this month's load of crap.

250 coins for Bonsai Buddy is ridiculous. It's $10. The standard usually is $8 - $10 = 200 coins (see all the N64 VC releases).

Surprised they did an update in the middle of the night, hopefully next month they'll stick to the schedule.

And for those of you wondering, yes, Yoshi is as bad as everybody says. Got it on my 3DS with Ambassador status and it was terrible.

Decided to grab a pink 3DS bag to go with my Princess Peach case since the zipper always presses against my XL. Still holding out for the 18 game cases to come back.

I actually liked that game, but mostly because I remember having it on the original Game Boy and playing the hell out of it because I only had 3 games at the time.

You can usually contact their CS and have them do it. Just tell them straight up you don't want it anymore, backorder is taking too long and you'd rather buy something else, etc, whatever works. I've canceled one or two this way, but it's been a while.

I'm also one that likes Yoshi. It's very simplistic, and I don't know what it is about it but it got its hooks in me. I looked at my Activity log on my 3DS and I've logged a shocking 26 and a half hours on it with the Avg play time of 53 minutes.

I've not touched the Wii U version that I got for $.30, so I definetly think it is better suited to a portable than a home console.

The xl cradle among other things was taken off the currently unavailable section. That's not a good sign. :whistle2:(
Came here to post this. The only thing left in "Currently unavailable" is the card case. Strange seeing as they just added G&W Ball to that section recently.

Man talk about over priced new prizes, those pouches are cool for 300 coins, or both for 500, and that bag would be cool for 500, not 700. Oh well, looks like I'm saving my coins for something else. Has anyone got their Luigi Statue (US people!)?

A whole bunch, yesterday I think.

It be great if we got something like this that Europe got years ago http://m.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/golden-zelda-statue-gallops-back-to-european-club-nintendo/ it seem Europe always get the best stuff not fair really
To return to my old analogy Japan is Nintendo's mom so they'll always be loved and respected and receive nice things and be taken care of. Europe is Nintendo's sexy young mistress so they get showering with presents and lots of exciting things. Meanwhile America is Nintendo's wife. They feel obliged enough to stay with us and occasionally give us a shiny trinket to appease us but the passion's not there and they're just going through the motions.

yea i know cause Europe is releasing a limited edition version of Mario kart 8 they announced it last week and it will probably never see the light of day over here

There was the Link Between Worlds CE that we never got as well (though Canada which is like Europe's half Sister), the superior Wind Waker CE, and probably others I'm forgetting.

Damn!

Ever since the start of this Club Nintendo year, I could swear that I should have had a year's worth of coins expiring, but the site always insisted that I didn't.  Now I check again and, sure enough, I all of the sudden have 600 coins expiring on June 30.  Now I'm starting to panic.  I don't want my 600 coins going to waste, but there's hardly anything decent available right now.  And there's no way of knowing what might come into and/or go out of stock by June 30.

I'm kicking myself over not getting Mario RPG when it was still available.  Now, even if another Virtual Console game that I might be interested in becomes available, like Super Metroid or Super Punch-Out, it will be the Wii U version and I don't have a Wii U.  They almost never have any decent 3DS games.  Mostly just DSiWare and VC games that I don't care about.

Does anyone have any opinions on the Luigi hat pouch?  I'm thinking of grabbing that before it goes out of stock.  It seems pretty cool and it would knock 500 coins off of my 600 expiring ones.

That's because Europe is Nintendo's weakest (major) region. It's mostly Sony territory (because region-free and all that jazz).

So Nintendo has to try extra hard to get sales there (hence all the promotions and stuff), unlike in 'Murrica. And Japan gets all the cool shit because its their home country, leaving us getting the raw deal when it comes to cool promos/special editions.

On the other hand, because its Nintendo's weakest (major) region, it tends to have issues getting software ports. So it's a double-edged sword.

Of all the times to forget a comma.. (I use them pretty frequently.) Well played, I chuckled.

The xl cradle among other things was taken off the currently unavailable section. That's not a good sign. :whistle2:(
Yeah, I just logged in and noticed they're gone. Maybe it's a sign that they're being moved to available status, though? Checked ebay for prices and they're hovering around $30 shipped from Japan.

And most of you probably don't need a reminder, but eshop purchases have coin surveys also. I completely forgot so I had a few waiting for me. I'm rich, I tell you. Rich.

What the hell?!?  I didn't realize Jay knew there were threads outside of the PSN.

And yea, I got my Luigi statue the day before yesterday.  It's ok.  Labeled with the serial on the bottom.  Apparently they only made 5000 of these.

(Sorry, I wanted to join in on the snark. Thanks for spoonfeeding him, sp00ge, I couldn't be bothered).
Despite the proper placement of commas in this sentence, I still ended up with a terrible mental image.

I guess it's a good sign for a restock if the 3DS game case wasn't removed from the "unavailable" section. Or not. You never can tell what they are doing over there.
