[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Is that supposed to be a full retail release or something akin to Dr. Luigi? If it's like Dr. Luigi then it might make sense to get the Wii version so I can get $5 off the Wii U version 6 months after release.
It's a full game: http://mariogolf.nintendo.com/

When trying to purchase Mario Golf, you get this warning: This game requires a Classic Controller or a Classic Controller Pro. These controllers are no longer manufactured, but may still be available for purchase from retailers.

So you can't use the Wii U Pro Controller?

No, that's not supported for Wii games.

Wow, thanks for the info. Really confusing comparison since that's on a different platform.

No, it's a Wii game so it uses Wii controllers. Wii U games are backwards compatible with Wii accessories. That's not to say that it's impossible for them to patch in forward compatibility but it's not going to happen.

no WE THE CUSTOMERS PAY for the 'GAMES" if they can't supply us with better rewards, then they will keep on losing customers.
i´m tired to read or hear this speech, it´s always the same. i´m tired tired, always people taking advantage of every single little thing they can sell, the costumers pay for the games NOT THE REWARDS that´s a program the company stablished for loyal members not especulators like the vast mayority i read all the time, you took it or leave it, i´m not defending a company, but remember that when the brands die or game studios close.

Sorry probably stupid question but under mario golf it says classic wii controller is required, but I'm reading online some people say it can be played with wii mote. Can you use a regular wii remote to play Mario golf?

no you can´t because it´s an N64 game, if you download it on Wii, you can use a gamecube controller.

you can use the wii remote for virtual console NES games

Thank you for reminding me about the GameCube controller. That's a very good reason for me to download wii games to the wii instead of the wii u.
You can also get an adapter that lets your plug a GC controller into your Wii mote and use it with compatible games on the U.

Yeah that's the one I was talking about. Works really well but I ended up returning it once I realized most of the stuff I thought I needed it for I was better served with the classic controller pro but that's because I was going more Wii than VC.

That's not necessarily true for everyone. You can't dictate why someone else buys something. For all you know, those rewards are 50% of the reason they chose a Nintendo game over PS4 or Xbox One. For all you know, these people buy the games at higher prices with the expectation that they can recover some cost by selling the junk that Nintendo gives them.

well maybe i exagerated, but, Club Nintendo only exists in some countries (it´s not the case of Argentina), so what i meant it´s the despicable tone about the rewards i often read. i bought Nintendo games not for the coins, (because i can´t use them) but for the games itself, their quality or services like Miiverse, here we don´t even have eSHOP updates, so i think this people with angry tone, should be more thankfully about the rewards program and not so picky.

Well, if people are willingly choosing Nintendo games over other games because of Club Nintendo, then Club Nintendo must be doing its job, right? Apparently the rewards are good enough already.

I guess Nintendo shouldn't make any more games because they've already sold some consoles.

There is a pretty big difference between cheap $1-$3 games and $30-$60 games.
While I agree with you, your previous comment wasn't right because I had literally seen people post about it. My original point was that some people take the stuff they can get from the rewards program into account when buying a game.

I think I'll use coins to get super mario world even though I have my SNES hooked up on the same hdtv my wii U is but still it's cool being able to play the game on Wii U.

For those who like the gamecube controller (one of my personal favorite controllers) there's this really cool adapter that allows you to use the GC on the Wii U via the Wiimote.

http://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Nintendo-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Wii/dp/B00BS520SG/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

Basically turns your GC controller into a Wii Classic controller Pro.

Edit: Lol, looks like Eldritch beat me to the punch.
You can also get an adapter that lets your plug a GC controller into your Wii mote and use it with compatible games on the U.
Thanks guys. That thing sounds great. I've never heard of it before. Have you guys used it with the wavebird? I guess if it works with a regular Gamecube controller, I would guess it must work with wireless.

I didn't since when I got it and pulled out the controllers the rubber on the C stick of the Wavebird had peeled off on it's own somehow while sitting in a box.

NRG-3FRW-N8YR-MZP

Mario & Sonic At The London 2012 Olympic Games 3DS.

There is a chance it might already be used since it might have been a dinger from AWD.

I didn't use this code myself since I had already bought the game a while ago new, traded it in and rebought it.

It worked. Thanks.

Yeah I have two of those adapters and they work great.  Use them with my Wavebirds and wired GC controllers (to save batteries).

What do you guys think of art academy?
I got it the last time it was on CN. On the one hand it's a DSi game so it looks a little rough, the input can be a bit hit and miss and it's extremely short in the amount of lessons but I enjoyed the content that was there. More so it spurred me to pick up the 3DS version which was so many more lessons in it and uses the hardware so much better. So if you're uncertain it's a good way to check out the series for "free". The 3DS version is definitely far better and if you knew you were going to be into the art lessons and digital painting then I would just go for that since it's only $15 used at GS and less with the various discounts out there.

No one is buying Nintendo games because they come with coins, lol.
I've never bought a game for the coins per se. But I have a couple of times opted for a Nintendo game over a third party one with coins/going for gold or platinum status kind of being the decider when I was on the fence about which to get. Silly as there's seldom anything I want with the coins, but whatever. :D

Did anyone else not get a survey for Rusty's Real Deal Baseball?
I haven't but downloaded it Monday night and I don't think the post play survey will show up until next Sunday-Monday. It's not on their list of eligible games so I don't think you get anything for actually downloading it.

You know what's odd about Club Nintendo's pricing of games?  I couldn't put my finger on it until now.  They base how many coins something costs on the platform it came from rather than the platform you're buying for.  Most companies would charge less for the last gen game than the current gen game.  In other words, Mario Golf should be 200 and Super Mario World should be 250.  This is especially true when you think about the fact that if they ever create a Mario Golf on Wii U that you'll have to pay them $1.50 ($2.00?) to upgrade it while the Wii U code is going to give you the game on the current gen platform with no cash involved.
