[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

Why are you people even playing the easier modes? You do realize a trophy/stars in 150cc gives you an equivalent trophy in 50/100cc right?
Did you read my post? I suck at Mario Kart. Why would I start at 150CC if I normally can't even beat 100CC in first place on all races?

Regardless, I needed those earlier modes to figure out the tricks for each track. Had I started at 150CC I would have lost purely from being unsure where to go & not having a good enough kart.

Just want to confirm...last night I created another CN account under my "family account" main account. I should be able to redeem 2 copies of Mario Kart 8 on 2 accounts doing this right? And I can use the free game code from both accounts to download to the same Wii U?

Yep, I redeemed 4 total codes on a family account.

Did you read your post? You were going on about how easy MK8 was compared to past games.

Either way my comment was aimed at everyone, not necessarily you, I didn't even mean to quote yours honestly. Oops.

Why yes I did. I said it was easier than other MKs. So obviously I would have to play it to discover that & what better mode to start in than the only one I've ever completed in an MK: 50CC.

But if you didn't mean to quote me, making the "you people" not addressed directly at me & others but instead a general question, this is a mute point. So nvm.

I was wondering if the physical copy of Steel diver still has a post play survey? I'm 45 coins short of platinum status. I thought I read somewhere that some of the older games no longer give the 10 coin post play survey. I see it on the list of eligible games for 40 coins. It's only $5.99 at gamestop so I thought that might be the way to go.

Yes it does, you're thinking of DS games. Those no longer give post play surveys (according to Nintendo but I keep getting them). Also: it's $3 at Kmart if you can find it. Not much difference, but just throwing that out there.

Thanks for the response. I ended up getting Super Mario 3d land from Sears. I forgot I had $17 in SYWR points that were expiring today. They had to call support to get them to work and gave me $3 more in points for the trouble. So I wound up getting SM3dL and a PS navigation controller for $21.09 after tax. Looks like I'll make platinum status just in time!!

Very nice! Congrats :)

Speculation for June CN freebies? I'm sure it won't update until Monday.
Same as usual. Recycled crap for one 3DS game, a DSi game nobody probably cares about for the other. Something that was in the 30 cent promotion for the Wii U, and something on the Wii side that everyone probably wishes was on the Wii U already.

I want Super Punch Out, and Super Mario Bros, or any of the 10 games or so on my wish list.
Damn, I wish I had known you wanted Super Punch-Out!!. I saw that it was on sale for $1.50 on the eShop a week ago when I went to download my free Pikmin 3. Sale's probably over by now, but it's worth checking.

Super Punch-Out was on sale? Dont remember seeing anything about that....if you had it on your wii, it is your cost to get it on wii u, not a sale...

I got Zelda:LTTP like that.

Oh, sorry. I had no idea. That explains why it wasn't listed in the sale section. But it did have a blue bar reading "sale" next to the price. No indication of that being why it was cheaper.

I finally got around to downloading Mario Kart 64. My Wii's internal memory was full, so I just plopped in a new 8gb SDHC card. It downloaded fine.

Was I supposed to format the card or do anything first? I've never used a memory card in my Wii console. Its a 8gb Dane-Elec SDHC card.

***I'd download it to my Wii-U, but I'd like to use the gamecube controller to play this one. Who knows if that new Wii-U gamecube controller adapter will ever be updated to work with N64 eShop games?***

It's not going to? That would be pretty silly when there's a third party one that already does.
I didn't know the 3rd party one works for eShop games on the Wii U. That's bad ass. Are you talking about this one? http://www.amazon.com/Mayflash-Nintendo-GameCube-Controller-Adapter-Wii/dp/B00BS520SG/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1402204390&sr=1-1&keywords=wii+u+gamecube+controller+adapter

I should have downloaded Mario Kart 64 on the Wii U then. I'm sure some day they'll start doing N64 games in hd. I'd like to upgrade with the small charge. The only reason I downloaded it to the Wii was to use the Wavebird controller.

That's the one that I'm talking about. I think it works fine for the VC games but now I'm not feeling 100% on that I tested that aspect when I used one. Remember it working with everything that supported a GC controller naturally but not anything that just supported the Classic controllers.

I wanted that adapter but heard from a friend it did not work with his wii plus remotes. Anyone else have this problem?
I think I'd rather wait for the official adapter anyway, since I only want it to play MK 8 & Smash Bros. Wii U but I'd appreciate some feedback.

If you happen to get a chance to test it out, please let me know. I'll be kicking myself when I'm playing fullscreen 4:3 aspect ratio games on the Wii with component cables when I could be playing the same games in HD in widescreen with the Wavebird on the Wii-U (for a small upgrade fee).

Wow, what a run-on sentence!

I'm totally pulling this out of my ass, but I think it would be really cool if Nintendo announces Monday at E3 that Gamecube games will be available on the eShop this year. It would sort of make sense with Nintendo releasing the GC controller adapter. It would really make sense if Nintendo is at all interested in making money. Have you guys the seen the resale prices for some first party Gamecube games? I wish I would have hoarded even more when they went 75% off at GS. Some people might be more incentivized to buy a Wii-U console in order to download GC games from the eShop.

Tonight I was just playing Mario 64 with the gamecube controller after spending the past week playing Mario Kart 8 with the Wii-U Pro Controller. The gamecube wavebird controller immediately felt more comfortable. It has to be because it's easy to hold down the "A" button with the wavebird. My thumb was sticking up straight and normal. In order for my thumb to hold down the "A" button on the Wii-U pro controller, I have to bend it way down and have an awkward death grip to powerslide the right trigger.

I have big hands... You know what they say about a guy with big hands...

We wear big gloves.

Of course you should wait for the official ones.

Also, knowing nintendo the GC controllers might only compatible with games that launch after it.

I'm sure that they can patch it so it works but who knows, hopefully we don't have to work with bullshit.

I'm thinking of getting Kirby Adventure, but will Club Nintendo keep track of the points you've spent and still apply them to your status?

I'm at 710 points for the year, so I'm Platinum Status, but will I still be Platinum Status if I spend 200 points on the game?

Haha it's funny you mention the big hands remark (in more than one way of course XD). The GC controller I most love using is my Megaman X controller. For whatever reason, this thing is SMALL. So small. But it's always felt more comfortable for me than the wavebird & I have big hands as well (of course I loved the wavebird but no rumble always kind of bothered me). But the comfort of the GC controller is what I really miss in general.
I used the wheel & wii mote in MK 8 for a little less than a week & my index finger is messed up from drifting.

Of course you should wait for the official ones.
Yea I think I will. With the official adapter it looks like 4 people can plug in, & that'll make it easy for some of my non-gamer friends to join in. Now my only annoyance with Nintendo is why didn't they just include the GC slots in the first place...=_=
