[customspoiler=Basic FAQ]
-Basic Info/Overview
For those that don't know Club Nintendo is Nintendo's loyalty program of sorts. When you buy a Nintendo Console/Handheld, or a Nintendo published game, you get a pin that you can enter online to earn points. These points can then be redeemed for games, accesories, and collectable items. If you earn enough points in a Club year (300 for gold and 600 for platinum, which each have their own reward), you also receive a free bonus only available to a select few. You can read the full list of eligible titles, as well as their point value, here.

-How do I get coins for digital purchases?
In order to earn coins on any digital games you purchase on Wii/WiiU/3DS/DSi, you will first need to link you Club Nintendo account to your system. Instruction for doing so can be found here.

-Can I play the Wii games on my Wii-U?
Yes, but as of now, only in Wii mode. Native Wii U support might be added later on, but will most likely require the typical $1-$1.50 fee to transfer over.

-How do I play Wii games on Wii U
You will need to enter Wii mode on your Wii U. Instructions on doing so can be found http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wiiu/en_na/features_wii_menu.jsp?menu=wii_shop&submenu=wup-wiishop-ht-redeem-code"]here[/url].

- If I don't spend coins for the entire year long period, do they carry over?
Yes, you can keep your coins past the Club Nintendo year they are redeemed in. However they only count toward gold or platinum status for the Nintendo year (june 31st-july 1st) they are redeemed in. After two years old points do expire, so make sure to spend them before then. You can check Coin balance information while, logged in, at the top of the page.

- Is there a list of previous rewards for people who accumulated a lot of coins? Similar to Square Enix's Ultimate Tier?
The extra rewards for Club Nintendo are for those that accumulate enough points to hit Gold or Platinum status (300 and 600 points, respectively). If you reach the required number of points in a year, Nintendo will automatically send you your reward, with no cost to you or your points.

- Does the list of eligible games update as the games come out or on some sort of schedule?
The list will be updated before the game comes out, do to things like Pre-Purchase bonus points. Any game you can buy, should already be on the list and able to redeem.

- When do they typically announce the prizes for Gold and Platinum?
Generally at the end of a Club Nintendo year, but don't expect it anytime soon. Usually it will take at least several months for them to ship it out.

- Is there anyway to enter multiple copies of the same game or device?
They have an option in the settings to make your account a family account, which means it can have sub-accounts that allows you to register multiple copies of games. The coins from all the sub-accounts all end up in the same main account coin collection.

- How does the site show what balance of coins you have to spend versus your total towards Gold/Platinum?
At the top right of the screen you can see the coin counter. The big number is your total coin amount, and the bar underneath is your progress to gold or platinum status. The number needed to advance is displayed directly above said bar. Redeeming your coins does not affect this counter, as it is only reset at the end of the year.

- How can I tell if a code is valid without redeeming it?
If you want to check if a code has already been registered, without registering it yourself, all you need to do is try entering the code while you are logged out. It will tell you the name of the game, as well as how many points it is worth, without activating it.[/customspoiler]

Let me know if I missed anything or if something breaks!

So I tried to redeem one of the Pokemon Y codes Club Nintendo gave out a while ago. I got to the last screen where you confirm the download, but it told me the code expired.

Think they'd give me another one? Anyone get them to re-issue a code after it expired?

You can always ask but it expired 4 months ago so YMMV.

Time machine, but the fees aren't worth it tbh.

I could see them doing it for up to a month after it expired cause people do forget sometime but 4 months later is extreme unlikely like a 99.9% chance probably not

the few times Ive contacted their customer service, I have always received a friendly response from a real person. They reactivated my survey to register my 3ds XL so its definitely worth enquiring about.

You could always pretend that it was a digital code that you just recently bought somewhere and try to get a replacement that way.

I'm sure that they have no idea where the origin of the code is.

It's better to be honest about this situation.

Regardless it's still the doods fault.

Are you supposed to get a registration card for coins on refurbished products? I bought a refurbished 2DS from them over the week and it doesn't have a code, I assume it isn't supposed to have one but I figured I would ask to confirm it.

There's a font the cool kids use called yellow-colored sarcasm (YCS).

I wouldn't expect you eShop plebs to understand its importance.

So I know some of you talk at times about missing out on that Kirby Medal, I've got one up for sale in my current lowball if you're interested.  Link is in my sig.

I won't post about it again, just legitimately trying to give some of you a shot at one without having to shell out $40+ on ebay.

And now to get back on topic...

I totally forgot about the Smash OST offer until I registered the game this afternoon, excited all over again. :)

My Best Buy came through and got those Smash Brothers gold coins today. I got one during my game pickup today just like they promised when I was there during their promotion a few months back as they never got them. It is pretty small and very nice and they should have honestly put these up on Club Nintendo for 500 points or 800 at most as these look easy to mass produce. It would have been a nice new addition to the store as they are lacking physical items now.

Can anyone confirm if I got a Wii game with Club Nintendo reward points am I able to upgrade to the WiiU version for the upgrade fee? Thinking about getting Super Punchout that way.

I've been slacking on my club Nintendo codes, so this weekend I went through my Nintendo game backlog and entered the club Nintendo codes.. I went from 235 coins to 795 and there's nothing to redeem them for...

The rewards have been trash for almost the whole year. I should have redeemed my coins for the Luigi Mansion's Diorama Statue earlier this year if I knew how bad the rewards would be. Now I'm almost sitting on 2100 coins.

Yeah, that's why I've been saving my Club Nintendo Codes. Already received Platinum for this year, so I figure there's not really much of a point to redeem them when there's nothing I really want at the moment...

Good idea, get to Platinum BEFORE you gather up all your codes and forget where you put them. Don't be like me.

I'm in the same situation. Every other month or so I'll get a download code but nothing else. GET WITH IT NOA

I always try to redeem codes as soon as I get them. I don't know if they'll work or not and I won't wait until 2015 to find out.

off topic I know, but does anyone know if the CN wii u "Featured Game Offers" count towards the wii u digital deluxe promotion?
If they're actual WiiU games and not Wii VC games then they do. Anything you buy on the WiiU eShop or codes for WiiU eShop titles should count.

I think I'm going to give a shoot to see, going to use my points to get Mario Bros. (Wii U) and we'll see if it counts or not. i'll post later to see if it does or doesn't

We've all done it before. As long as you have your system connected properly for DDP and you're using a download code for a game in the Wii U eShop (NOT THE WII SHOP CHANNEL), then yes it counts.
Yep, I even went back and double checked all the WiiU games I've gotten from CN are on my DDP. Either it's not connected right, it just hasn't shown up yet, or something else.

my system is connected correctly other wise I wouldn't be getting ddp points on my pokemon rumble u (used a code I got from gamestop) and super Mario 3d world (got directly from wii u eshop) or Zelda windwaker hd (Mario kart 8 free promo gift)

my question is if titles like Kirby Super Star (Wii U) or Mario Bros. (Wii U) which can be purchased as a reward from club Nintendo using points qualify for ddp points, if buying them with CN points instead of using money?

so far it has not shown up on my ddp list but it has shown up on my cn list as "Product Registration" but I was not given any coins for it (I figured it would not net me any coin, but just stating it in case others wanted to know) still I got 3 more hours until I hit the 24 hour mark for points to show up on ddp, so i'll wait 3 hours until I start freaking out lol

That's what everyone is telling you - YES they count. We've all done it. I've done it myself tons of times. It takes a day for the points to show up. If you ordered it yesterday it should show up today. If something went wrong then I'd check tomorrow and the points should be there.

The other possibility is that they changed the system so you no longer get points for the codes but I really doubt Nintendo did that.

woo it showed up finally and with an hour to spare lol, thank you everyone for the info and confirmations

Yes, they will also give you the exact same CN coins as if you bought them directly from the shop. Your problem is that product registration DOESN'T usually give you coins for most VC games regardless of where you buy them, but wait a couple weeks or so and you'll find a Post Play survey on your account which will give you 10.

Patience is a virtue.

So.... I just got a new 3ds xl and gave mine to the wife. I'm holding off on registering it because when I registered my first one it was 15 days prior to them having a promotion for a free game with purchase of a 3ds and a game. I don't know if and when they would be doing something like that again. Does anyone know how long I have till I wouldn't be able to register it with cn?

Probably around March since that's when they did the last two. Just put it somewhere safe and sit on it.

If there's no date on the registration card, then a couple years.

As a reminder the registration and post play surveys for the games from the Smash sale are going to start expiring this week.  As soon as tomorrow if you bought the games from the first week on the first day.  Also remember that with the digital the post play shares the same expiration as the registration had for some dumb reason so don't forget about those either.

In other new there's ITB up for Harvest Moon, Winx Club, and Disney Planes that expire the 14/21/28 respectively.

Yes, they will also give you the exact same CN coins as if you bought them directly from the shop. Your problem is that product registration DOESN'T usually give you coins for most VC games regardless of where you buy them, but wait a couple weeks or so and you'll find a Post Play survey on your account which will give you 10.

Patience is a virtue.
patience isn't my strong suit as you can already tell lol

16 hours until I am disappointed yet again with rehashes or $2 dsiware... Not sure why I always expect something new. Maybe this time will be different.
