I guess Wii Fit is the exception. Thats 90 coins, innit?
Probably because you're getting hardware along with it that's not just a plastic shell.

I just logged in and did everything :/
I guess my status restarts in a month or two.
What's so good about having a better status? Also, what is with the prizes? I'll probably get the game and watch collection, since it's a game....

In Japan, at the end of the Club Nintendo year, gold and platinum members can select from one of a few prizes, and the platinum selection is a little bigger. I think we're all assuming they'll set it up the same way here.

question to anyone who earned early registration coins. do you get the 10 coins as soon as you register the game? or later on?
question to anyone who earned early registration coins. do you get the 10 coins as soon as you register the game? or later on?
you get it right away normally but nintend'oh (d'oh lol homer simpsonz) haz been messingz upz. That is why tehy creditz ya later on sometimes for instance fire emblem ds. But most of the time you should get it immediately. :D

I'll push the button. I don't know if I have any interest in Personal Trainer Walking, but I might come in possession of it at some point, perhaps as a flip, for example, so I just register intend to buy for everything.

That's my strategy as well.

I'll wait for reviews of Starfy. I have one of the Japanese games and didn't like it. However, people tell me that it is the weakest of the bunch. I don't know, though.

Of course I'll register intend to buy regardless! Thanks for the tip off!

I can't wait to see what out gifts are going to be..
It's going to be like Wii Controller plush toys of 2, Pokemon sticker set, or Wii Fit Socks

Or it will be a Tingle DS game, gold Wii Wheel, or a Famicom classic controller that works with Wii. ;) We'll just have to wait and see.

Hooooooooo!!! I need socks with GRIPS just because I am slipping ALL over the balance board!! :whee:

I would love a Slippy Sex Doll. :whistle2:k

FOX! GET THIS GUY OFF ME!!

Is there any word of new merch to be put up before the year is over? I have points but if I'm going to be forced to use them, I might as well gift them to a friend.

Do the redeemed points expire?
Do the redeemed points expire?
The FAQ says something about coins being valid for two Club Nintendo years.

This is like when your parents tried to teach you to save those quarters for something more worthwhile than just a gumball. I usually only got a few quarters together before buying the slightly larger gumball.

I wouldn't get too excited. I'm expecting them not to be that great the first year since so many people got platinum status too easily counting the games they already had registered. I hope I'm wrong (after all, they should want to make people excited and happy to do it again next year), but I'd rather be pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed...
Do the redeemed points expire?
Here is the email I got from Nintendo.

From: Nintendo Customer Support ([email protected])
Sent: Wed 5/20/09 3:37 PM

Unredeemed Club Nintendo Coins will expire at the end of the third Club Nintendo year from when they were earned. Since Club Nintendo years run from July 1 to June 30, all Coins older than 2 years will expire on July 1 of the third year. For example, any coins earned between July 1 2008 and June 30 2009 would expire on July 1 2011. If you earn coins during two different Club Nintendo years, you would end up with coins that expire at the end of different years. Coins used to Purchase Rewards will be automatically deducted from the oldest first.

You will also be notified via email when your Coins near their expiration. We are continuing to develop and improve the Club Nintendo program, and expect that your Coin expiration information will be viewable through your account at a future date. Watch the website for the latest information.

Sincerely,

Erika J. Valencia

Do you (or anyone else) know what was offered in Japan this year at each level? I have about 800 points I'm sitting on, not sure if I should register them this year or not.
So we lose out status on June 30, but not our coins? That's pretty awesome.
Of course not. Hell, I barely pay attention to this thing and even I knew that ;).
So the consensus is the prize won't be that great this year but may be better next year, eh? Or, on the other hand, they might make this one awesome to get people to sign up and possibly even buy more games in anticipation of next year only to be let down then ;).

I have enough extra stuff to get platinum for one of my kids (I would sign them up independently of course). I probably can't do it beyond one year though. I am very tempted to get it done for the first year but we'll see.

They don't have any restriction based on shipping address do they? I mean, I'd have to sign up the kid to the same address as my account. I don't want to do that "family account" crap where they pool your points and only allow you get get one member to platinum status.

Here's 2008's prizes: http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/11/18/more-club-nintendo-goodies-announced-for-japan/

I think this is 2007's: http://www.digitalbattle.com/2007/11/16/club-nintendo-members-showered-with-gifts/

Now I kind of get the feeling we won't have a choice of gifts this year, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.
I'm really, really hoping we get the SNES classic controller as one of the options. But that Mario hat is pretty sweet too.
In lieu of using your points on that, this may be hitting at E3:

Question is if this truly comes in at

If the SNES controller is the ghetto type that would plug into the Wiimote, no thanks. If it had a gamecube connector, then yes, please.

The Mario hat is 100% delicious. Must have.
If the SNES controller is the ghetto type that would plug into the Wiimote, no thanks. If it had a gamecube connector, then yes, please.
Why do you prefer it to plug into a GC port? If it plugs into a Wii Remote you aren't tethered to the console. I can't see what advantage there would be to having it tethered to the console, though I suppose that it wouldn't use batteries - since I use rechargeable batteries that's a non-issue for me.

In any case, if you want one that plugs into a GC port, you've already got options for that that you can buy, including the one coming out soon, shown by Corvin above. Certainly good stuff, but I wish it plugged into the Wii Remote. Go figure....

Argg... I didn't realize that "intend to buy" was only available before the game came out. I missed the Punch Out bonus. Blah.

Here's a question: Should I register Punch Out now to get 60 coins or wait until July 1st to register it and only get 50 coins, but it'll go towards my status for the next year.

If you want a Mario hat pillow, people sell them on Amazon and on Etsy quite a bit. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find one that would be as good as any CN would offer.

As for an SNES pad, you can make this yourself as far as I know. You'd have to talk to some of the modding gurus 'round here to get definitive answers.

I'm not really posting this for any particular reason, other than to say that stuff like this is available if you really want it now. I hope to get a Mario hat pillow and let it live on my couch alongside the panda pillow I got in Japan.

Yes, you can make and/or buy an SNES pad now, but not one that connects to the Wii Remote. At least the only ones I've found are tethered to a Gamecube port. So... I really want the CN one.
If you want a Mario hat pillow
I did not say "pillow". Where did you get "pillow" from my post?
I'm guessing no one makes actual hats but Nintendo, so Strell was pointing out an alternative. Take a deep breath.
And then I'll scream. :

If you are already platinum, I don't see any reason to register more games before it resets. Maybe I'm missing something though?

I think you can register and get the intent to register bonus right away, but defer to take the actual survey until after June 30th. I am going to try that this afternoon and see what happens.

I'll chime in with another vote to wait. 10 points is a [relative] drop in the bucket.

When I still had a Wii I had the CN Snes pad. It was indeed rather awesome. I just bought my sister the gold wheel and it's a pretty cool idea although it doesn't really scream 'platinum' level prize to me. I still think some of the old prizes (GCN controllers, GBA micro faceplate) were the best. Although, that shouting rangers game is a pretty neat gift.
Hopefully we don't get these Mii business cards...
http://club.nintendo.jp/new_present2/index.html
Ah, Miis. Remember those? They seemed like such a great idea when the Wii launched. I felt as though they should have been present in just about every first party Nintendo title where they wouldn't have been absurdly out of place (e.g. no Fire Emblem or Metroid cameos) but they just haven't made enough of a showing. A shame, really, as they were one of my favorite concepts introduced with the Wii.
