Mii's are always amusing when they make cameo appearances in games (example: Mario Kart) and when they have more substantial roles in games where they're appropriate (WiiFit, Wii Sports, etc.) Then again, when aren't they appropriate? Who wouldn't want Mii's in, for example, MadWorld? :)

Ah, Miis. Remember those? They seemed like such a great idea when the Wii launched. I felt as though they should have been present in just about every first party Nintendo title where they wouldn't have been absurdly out of place (e.g. no Fire Emblem or Metroid cameos) but they just haven't made enough of a showing. A shame, really, as they were one of my favorite concepts introduced with the Wii.

and yet... they were in Metroid!

Ohh, the site is down for maintenance!
I hope this is a good sign and they are updating the site so we can order our Mii Business Cards, or Wii Fit Socks......
and yet... they were in Metroid!
Oh yeah! The bobbleheads! Hahah that was pretty decent wasn't it?

I gotta go with crunchewy and add that some kind of infinite Mii killing wave in MadWorld would be awesome. Maybe Mii t-shirts in NMH.

For some reason I doubt Nintendo would allow that.

I'm having a problem getting some Intend to Buy coins and I was wondering if you guys can check something for me.

I know I did the intend to buy survey for Rhythm Heaven, as well as for Pokemon Platinum, but The Nintendo reps tell me I did not do it because there is no "star" in the earn coins details. However, I know I did it so I was wondering if any of you guys can check if Rhythm Heaven and Pokemon Platinum has this "star."

On mine, the Intend to Buy star appears on all games after Excitebots, it's just those two that don't. I am guessing that since they were early games for the promotion, they didn't do it for them but it's also possible that I didn't do it, but I doubt that.

I'd also like to point out that before I emailed them about this, those intend to purchase stars were not on my account but suddenly after telling them this they showed up. Hopefully it's just a mix up and I just want to make sure because I don't want to keep bugging them if the fuck up is on my part.

My Pokemon Platinum does show the star. It has a smiley face that says "Register Intent to Purchase" under it followed by a star that says "Intent to Purchase Survey" under it.

Just to confirm: July 1, we lose our STATUS but not our coins..right?
Also, when did Japan get to choose their yearly prize? Before or after the year ended?

Coins only expire 2 years + the remainder of what is left in the current Club Nintendo year. If you haven't used them, don't fret; your coins are safe until June 30th, 2011.

Otherwise the status is reset beginning July 1st.

I finally ordered my hanafuda cards last week, only took a few days to get delivered. I haven't actually opened them up yet because the box is too attractive. And tiny!

I'm kinda curious how many points I will have on July 2nd after submitting all the open surveys I've been sitting on.

After I do all my surveys I'm going to be about 50 points short I think for platinum (might even be as little as 20-30, I forget). Although doubtful, I'm hoping they tell you the prizes beforehand so I know if I should try to hit platinum status or save my surveys to start for next year.

I believe prizes are shortly announced within a month or so after the Club Nintendo year ends (Japan is Oct 1). I imagine we're likely to know what the prizes will be sometime in Aug-Sep. If you don't think you'll reach platinum status by July 1st, you might as well save the rest of your points to go towards next year's status.

If I remember correctly, platinum members can choose either the gold or platinum prizes, but gold can only choose from the gold prizes. But to give you an idea on what Japan got, here are the previous years:

07-08 Prizes (http://club.nintendo.jp/rank2008/index.html)
 • Golden Mario Kart Wheel
 • Club Nintendo Calender 2009
 • Super Mario Hat
06-07 Prizes (http://club.nintendo.jp/rank2007/index.html)
 • Super Famicon Wii Controller
 • Mario Galaxy OST Platinum
 • Club Nintendo Calender 2008
05-06 Prizes (http://club.nintendo.jp/rank2006/index.html)
 • Wiimote Remote
 • Laser Etched Mii - Wii Remote Battery Cover
 • Tingle's Balloon Fight

In all honesty, it's going to be difficult for them to top 07.

Ok.... I am sure this is a stupid question... but...

these special prizes, they are ones that only gold or platinum people are allowed to BUY with their coins, right? They aren't something extra they're sending us without having to use our coins?

Yeah, I think the point of them is that they are free - no coins required.

I signed up my wife with some extra codes I had. It wasn't a problem adding another person to a separate account with the same address - at least not yet. I had asked in here about that but I guess nobody knew. There isn't anything in the FAQs at Nintendo about it either. I didn't want to do the family account thing because I wanted to get 2 platinum prizes if possible. If I can scrounge up a few more codes I should be good to go ;). I'm counting on this first year prize being pretty good (compared to later years anyway) as I probably won't be able to do that for next year.

So you just made an entirely new account with the same street address? I should have enough extra codes to at least get gold status a second time. I might play it safe and use my Mom's address for the second one, though. :) Or maybe I'll just save them for the next round. Hmmm... I wish someone would get the inside scoop on what will be offered... somehow.

Yep. It would suck if that means we only get one platinum reward. But really, we are two different people so that should be OK. I hate it when companies punish you for being married . (Ie, two single people with different addresses who are part of a couple can each get a "1 per family" item but not once they get married/live together). But I see nothing in Nintendo's site about one per family/address, so it's likely we're fine with the second account. We just won't know for sure until we get both of them I guess.

BlueLobstah - in that list of prizes for the Japanese club, which were Gold and which were Platinum? I thought Platinum would get the gold + a platinum reward? I guess that was too much to expect ;). So it's nice, then to be able to choose both (with our 2 accounts) though it would feel like a waste to get the gold prize with an account at platinum status.

For 2008, gold members only had the calendar, but platinum had a selection from one of the three.

I don't remember what the previous years were, and since the pages are no longer available. But my guess would be the calender in 2007 was gold, Tingle's Balloon Fight was gold, and everything else was platinum selection.

No telling what we'll get for the US rewards, but if its anything like Japan's, you'll have at least some decent selection to not have to settle for the gold reward. 2007 would have definitely been a very difficult choice for me between the OST and the SFC controller.

And yes, the end of the year rewards don't cost any additional points. You can select one from either the gold or platinum rewards, or just gold if you don't have enough coins for platinum. It's really to your benefit to try and at least get platinum since the gold reward has usually been pretty meh. (i.e. calendars)

Oh cool, so completely free? Then I'm with lilboo, bring on the wii fit socks ;)

Now I guess I can go back to deciding what to spend my coins on. Is the Game and Watch collection worth it? I already have the hanafuda cards. I was thinking of the little Mario hat DS game "holder"... or the classic Mario game/stylus case.

Or maybe they will post new prizes when they update the site for the new year? *crosses fingers*

G&W is kind of dumb, but neat to have if that makes any sense.
I say, save your points and see once the new year rolls up to see if they ACTUALLY change/add any prizes. I also have 780 more coins just chillin in there.

I don't have the Game & Watch game, and I won't because it has a disappointingly small collection of such games. It has fewer games then the similar collection for the Gameboy (original Gameboy!) Plus there are collections for the GBC and GBA too and all can be had very inexpensively.

I just went to check my Club Nintendo account after months. I did the game surveys sitting there when Club Nintendo started and haven't added anything new so I was surprised to see available surveys for games I added awhile back. It brought me over to the 600PT-Platinum hump so I'm glad I didn't have to resort to begging.

Just logged in and saw that they updated the main home page with this reminder:

If you click on it, it gives more info about elite status, but they still don't say what the prizes are. :whistle2:(

Earn an Elite Status Reward

elite-award-promo-sm.jpg

Club Nintendo members or family accounts who reach Gold or Platinum status by June 30, 2009 will be eligible to receive a special reward. If you've reached an elite status, visit the Club Nintendo website after June 30, 2009 for more information on when these special rewards will be announced. Once these special rewards have been announced you will have a limited time to accept the reward, so please check back often. Remember, if you are part of a Club Nintendo family account, only the Account Administrator will be able to accept the reward on behalf of the family.
If you have not yet reached an elite status, simply earn more coins before the Club Nintendo year ends on June 30th. If you earn 300 Coins, you will reach Gold status. Earn 600 Coins and reach Platinum status! If you are part of a Club Nintendo family account, the Coins that each family member earns are combined, so you have a better chance to reach Gold or Platinum status. View our FAQ for more information.

NOTE: On June 30th all statuses will be reset. Coins you earn as of July 1 will count toward next year's Elite Status. Remember, although your status will reset, your remaining Coin balance will remain as is.
that has been up since day one. there has never been any clues or anything. no one knows what it will be.
I know the whole thing about elite status and getting prizes for it isn't new. But the huge "reminder" image telling people to make sure they have enough points by the end of the month just recently appeared, at least on my CN account. Normally when I logged it in would just be a generic "welcome to Club Nintendo" kind of image.

Damn, I just realized that any Wii Shop Channel game released after December 08 would be eligible for the post play survey (OP doesn't have the entire FAQ answer that talks about VC/Wiiware after Dec 08). Had I known it sooner I'd have tried to buy more games just to reach the quota. As is I need to buy another Nintendo game or not get Platinum this year, hmmm.

If that's true, I still haven't gotten a Post Play survey for Majora's Mask, which is pretty disappointing. I'm still wondering if I should spend 800 coins on the Game & Watch Collection to leave me with 170. I can still gain about 600 from games I haven't registered yet.

well I'm sitting on 12 post play surveys... just sitting on 600 now to get plat, don't really want anything just yet.

I have a bunch of the wife's games to steal more points from too. wonder if I'll get another plat this year.

Nice, I'm just over the Gold mark. If I hit platinum would I have more stuff available to spend coins on? All I see on there is all sorts of game holders and the Game & Watch collection.

Im at excatly 600 waiting til the new period to register my games so I have an early start on next years Platinum status. Im going for the 800point card set unless anything else that looks as awsome shows up.

So if I buy a WiiWare game now do I get coins right away or are they all obtained via the post-play survey (which I can do whenever I want)? The reason I ask is because I don't want any more coins till it resets in July. I might as well hold off buying anything till then if even some of the points are automatic. I was looking at getting Swords & Soldiers.

I'm still sitting on a ton of surveys from the games I registered before Club Nintendo came to be. I won't even have to add that many new ones to to hit platinum for next year ;).
WiiWare, VC and DsiWare games only get you post-play survey coins, so none are collected automatically.
Cool, so no need to wait 2 weeks ;).

AAAARRRGHHHH! I just found 8 post play surveys sitting in my account. I completed them and I'm now at 590 points. 10 shy of platinum.
What's the most cost-effective way to get over the hump by 6/30?
Go purchase any of the VC games that are applicable for the club nintendo points.
I'd do that, but if I can't get points for 4-6 weeks from it, I'm out of luck there.
