Oh wow, I hadn't even thought of asking for a code heh. All I need is a Wii game code. The games I have registered already are
Twilight Princess
Mario Galaxy
Smash Bros Brawl
Mario Kart
Metroid Prime 3
Super Paper Mario

And I think that's it. If somebody has a Punchout code, I do anticipate getting it at some point, so I could probably PM the code I get back to you, but I can't guarantee I'll buy it, and if I do it won't be for awhile as I have other stuff taking up time and I wouldn't buy it until it's cheap anyway.
. I elaborated in the spoiler as to not clutter the thread. :)

I need 40 points to reach platinum status (have 260)...anyone got any points from a wii game they don't need and are willing to share??
No intention of raining on anyone's parade, but the trading thread can be found here. If you have a code you want to trade/sell/buy, you should post over there.
Thanks for that link, first time I've seen the thread. Wish I had known about it sooner. ;)

I tried using that thread and never got any response.
I'd love for the Platinum Reward to be the unsold copies of Tetris DS they can't sell.
Ya it would be cool if they handed out rare ds games, like electroplankton, but that is highly unlikely.
What games get coins and what games don't seems pretty arbitrary.Super Mario 64 DS was a launch title yet you can get coins for it, so it seems unlikely that when a title was released has much to do with whether or not it can be eligible for coins.
It wasn't too arbitrary. For the most part, the list consisted of titles that were still in print at the time Club Nintendo kicked in. There were a few head scratchers (Tetris DS and Electroplankton, to name a few), but that pretty much sums it up.

I just registerd Tetris DS and I got my coins. Some games like Mario and Luigi:piT, and StarFox DS, didn't get any coins when I registered them awhile back. Question, if I register 300 coins and get gold status, and I buy something from their rewards section, will I lose my status? Or will I just lose the coins and my status will still remain the same?

According to the official Club Nintendo FAQ's page you will not lose your status by redeeming coins. The only time your status is reset is at the end of the Nintendo Year (June 30th).

Thanx for the info. And thanx for not being a smartass about it. I could have easily checked the faq, but I didn't think about it lol. I just ordered the game and watch collection. Yay!

I remember watching a video of the unboxing and I'm sure it's been posted before but the europeans got a pretty good size link statue on epona

I'm sure nintendo of america would charge 10,000 coins or something since it went for 15,000 star ponits... I dunno not the best guess but it was really expensive.

http://nintendo.joystiq.com/2008/11/19/golden-zelda-statue-gallops-back-to-european-club-nintendo/

Free would also be good since it would redeemed NOA's lack of commitment until now.

I just got an e-mail from Nintendo. They will announce the prizes within the next month, and we will get them before the year ends. Ugh...

I wonder when they'll put up the new prizes. I could input enough points to get G&W, but I have a feeling the next batch of prizes will be better.

I think I may consider starting up a second account this year. I just entered all my remaining Wii games/DSi and I'm already up to 480 points for 2010, not including the post-play surveys which will bump me up to 540 points and any other DS games that I have left over.

Just with my pre-orders for the rest of the year on Amazon.com, I'm nearly halfway to platinum assuming intent to buys are posted for all of the games. I'm sure it'll be fairly easy to have 2 platinum accounts by July of 2010.

Only downside to that would be if they release better (as in more expensive) things to spend your coins on. I've never looked at the Japanese coin store, do they have anything really expensive coin wise?

Got this in an email.

Are they serious about picking prizes in a month...and they won't deliver till end of the year?

Xmas surprise?

geez.

Edit: Lol "Elite Status"

I'd forgotten that we'd made it to the new "year". I just did most of my post-plays (some my kids will do tonight), registered my DSi and my copy of Rhythm Heaven. I'm up to 270 at the moment. I've also go Punchout to register and a bunch of other games I've got the reg cards for from various flipping efforts, such as Mario Super Sluggers. Speaking of which, I've got duplicates of a bunch of game reg cards, so I'll be wanting to trade them now. I'll have to locate that CN code trade thread, but given that it always ends up buried, I'm not sure how effective that will be.

Well, they are saying "before the end of the year". That could mean that you receive it shortly after it is announced, or it could be December 31st, or more likely somewhere in between.

That could be tomorrow!

I can finally start putting in codes again for the new year. I had 600 coins sitting in there just to make the Platinum status for last year; I'll put in another 200 to get the Hanafuda cards. I dunno when to order them tho. I'm debating on immediately ordering them or waiting to see if they update their rewards.

had platinum status this year, already got my platinum status for next year, and still have product sitting around to get more than halfway to platinum status the following year. awesome.

and i still haven't gotten any rewards, so i've got 1500 coins in my account right now. kinda funny that, after wanting club nintendo to come here for so long, i'm not really taking advantage of it.

If you have been following this thread, you really shouldn't be that surprised that we won't know what the prizes will be right away. NOA's Club Nintendo has been structured very similarly to Japan's Club Nintendo. For reference, their prizes were often shipped out several months after the prizes were announced and selected, sometimes even into the next year so don't expect to see a present on your welcome mat anytime soon.

Additionally, if you check the site there's a bolded message stating, "Club Nintendo Special Rewards will be announced by the end of July 2009."
Only downside to that would be if they release better (as in more expensive) things to spend your coins on. I've never looked at the Japanese coin store, do they have anything really expensive coin wise?
I guess I could always adjust if needed, but I have about 1100~ points sitting in my account right now, so if the prizes do get refreshed I'm ready.

The most expensive item on Japan's store is at 650 points, and their platinum/gold status are at a lower tier than us (200/400 respectively). They earn less per game, 30 points for ¥5,250 and up, 20 points for ¥3,150 and up, and 15 points for anything less. However, they get 15 points for pre-registration (intent to buy?), 30 points for early registration, and 10 for post-play survey. That's a potential of 85 points per Wii game, so they can easily reach gold status with only 5 games, while at least 9 games are required in the US.

Club nintendo really got to put its act together. They had a whole year to decide our prizes and when to ship them and now they need half a year more? Very annoying

Yup - got my Platinum status for the year. Sadly, I went stupid at first and did enough surveys for 2,410 coins in the first year. I could have been platinum forever... :(

A whole year?

You do realize Club Nintendo didn't start until December 16th of last year, right?

I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to know how many people would reach Platinum level before the prizes were announced so they'd know how much they'd have to spend on them. Maybe they even have a "budgeted" amount and need to make the prize the right cost to come in at that figure.
So, is it okay to enter new codes now? They'll count towards the new "year"?
You can always enter codes, you dont get coins torwards the year until complete the surveys.

And yes, the status was reset ad midnight and any surveys you complete count torwards the july 1 2009 - june 30 2010 year. I finished mine today, and have about 400 points left over for 2010-2011

Nice, thanks for the info.

If they were smart, they'd let you enter all your reg codes immediately and carry remaining (after platinum) status coins over to the next year for that years platinum, and the next, etc. It seems to me that it's in their interest to have everyone enter registration codes and fill out surveys right away and not hold onto them. Oh well.

was hoping 7/1 would be a glorious day when the platinum gift was announced, and new, better rewards were rolled out
wasn't expecting it, just pure hope

It's not in their interest to carry over points... because the majority of those surveys were not responded to with care, so many of them are going to be worthless. They dont want to commit to giving away 4 years of free things to people... when people register everything in a single year... and many of the point values will expire if people hold onto them too long. I know I had some expiring in the next calander year... so I had to pick the earliest expiring surveys or fear losing them (because I didnt pay attention to it when i first filled out my 600 pts)

I'm not so sure it is OK to enter new codes now. Since it is July 1st, I started doing some new surveys, but I noticed my total coins count going up, but the coins needed to reach gold status still show as 300. I stopped doing the surveys until I see the coins need to reach gold status adjusts downward.

ebay33 - click the "My Coins" tab and check the right side. It'll show you how many coins you have along with how many elite status coins you've earned for the current period.
Yes. I'm already platinum. :)
wow, someone has alot of game codes :p

Anyways I guess it makes sense that nintendo would have a certain budget and they need to adjust their prize according to that budget. I just can't help but be annoyed because it will be a long time before we get any prizes.

Oh, the survey for Tetris DS... So melancholy... I love you Tetris DS, but this is a love that cannot be shared and I mean that since Nintendo has locked you away.
What's a Wii worth? I haven't registered mine apparently.
Doesnt say (if anything), but you do get an extended warranty.

The only system that gets you coins is the DSi. It gives you 160 coins - but you must first link the system to your Club Nintendo account.

Also, note, you get 10 coins for DSi Ware. And the DSi Browser is free. So, link your DSi, download the browser and you can get 170 coins from your DSi (once the browser's post play survey comes up)
Wowsa, the DSi is worth 160. Granted hardware should be worth more.
Aside from WiiWare/VC, I think the general assumption would be that $1 = 1 point, so 160 is pretty close to what you get for the same price in a Wii game.

I imagine we'll see any future consoles eligible for points as well. The Wii/DS both get points in Japan.

A prudent and informative post, many thanks BL.

Is there a time limit as to when we have to redeem all current points? I have 650 and am waiting until I accumulate 800 for the Game and Watch collection. However, I do not want to lose those points.
