CoD: Modern Warfare 2 - Gen. Discussion & Info-New Map Pack out June 3 (1200MSP)

You can hear your teammates all the time in Headquarters, but yeah, I don't know how they'd temporarily disable party chat when certain things in the game happen, like your teammates dying.
 
IMO, the most ideal way to have the "feature" implemented is for the game to automatically change chat channels for users, and making in-game chat required during actual game play, not lobby time.

@ the trailer: IW sure knows how to cut a trailer. But for some reason, in my head, a different song was playing: Youtube Doubler(mute the trailer sound)

ZOMG I Have it! I'm soo psyched. If anyone is near Jersey City NJ there's an indy game shop thats broken the street date. I just got home with my copy.

I'm kinda scared to play it though, I think I may unplug my wireless thingy and play offline, just in case.

The online is soo much fun. Theres alot of people online already, I had no trouble getting into games and some ppl were at level 25-30 already. I got up to level 7 and decided to call it a night as I have to work tomorrow.

One thing I noticed right away is that the levels have alot of vertical play. There can always be someone above or below you, so you cant just look left and right.

Theres also alot of destructible stuff in the environments. You can blow up soo much shit it can be hard to see. I saw movement and emptied my magazine, turned out I shot a couple of chickens!
 
Has anyone here have had experience by pre-ordering games from Walmart online? Just wanted to know if they deliver on release day? I just pre-ordered the game and it says the delivery date will be between 11/18/09 to 11/20/09. Lemme know if you know, thanks.

Why are people so afraid to play it early? You should only be afraid if you pirated it.

Guess it's testers, reviewers, developers, etc.

If you bought it from a store just keep the receipt. You can play online all you want, they will come down on the store that sold it not you.

They weren't reset as of last night. I logged off after 11pm est and they were still up. This is for the 360 version.

I just want to go home and play some more. This is turning into the longets work day ever. =(

Yeah I got over my trepidation pretty quickly. I had GTA IV over a week early and nothing happened.

There are actually lots of people playing online already, all with stories of stores breaking street dates, or having friends that work at the store, etc.

I bought it from an independent game store, not a chain. They knew full well what they were doing too.

I'm curious to see if IW will reset the leaderboards at Midnight when the date changes to the 10th.

I'm not a big fan either. I'm sure many will be rocking the silver skull after a couple of months.

In MW1 I stopped on the one that looks like the Umbrella Corp logo. It's back in MW2, but doesn't look like its the right colors from that pic.

Seeing a lot of tweets of ppl getting it today but none from major retailers so far. Mine shipped from BB but thats not the same as going out and buying it today. Anyone hear of it being picked up at a major chain?
 
I just popped the disc in to start playing, and it prompted me to download an update fo the game. I did and quickly checked multiplayer and the update didn't reset leaderboards or any of my stats.

I gave up on World at War when the second map pack came out. Its okay, but Im not spending $30 on maps.

I started playing CoD4 a week ago in preparation, and it's still great.
 
Why would BB sell the game early? They're going to sell hundreds of thousands of copies. Joe's Video Game Shop in Tulsa will get 10 copies and nobody will care if they break the street date. And then IW will reset everyone on Tuesday.

I just played some split screen special ops missions with my friend and it was pretty cool. I havent played split screen in a long time but it's nice that they have it.

They're not going to be reset until Monday.
 
I just called the owner of the local Play N Trade here, and we are pretty tight, a he'll hook me up with a copy If I come tonight or tomorrow after church...I think I might just fucking book it to Play N Trade right now.
 
Campaign left with a cliff hanger. Spec ops is fucken awesome. So far me and my friend unlocked 42/69 stars. I think its a better co op exp than Halo ODST and Uncharted 2 surival.
 
I heard that some GS in the Northeast are selling early because of the mom and pop stores causing them to loose money.

I called up my local Play N Trade (didn't even know I had one) and the guy freaked out saying it was comming out tuesday and the mom and pop stores were all going to be heavily heavily fined and if I played early I'd be banned on xbox live. I just called him a moron and hung up.
 
I was hoping my local gamstop would give it up early yesterday but nope. I guess they have if I had preordered but didn't from them since I got a $50 giftcard for BB.

haha, I can't even play online yet anyways, because my ethernet cord is fucked up. But If I could, I wouldn't care what that dude says.

This game doesnt need a demo. This franchise sells itself. L4D2 kind of needed a demo due to the backlash its gotten.

My local Gamestop has had it since Wednesday. Im good friends with the manager, but he has had the week/weekend off for a wedding, so no early get. No big deal though. Its less than 48 hours away. I probably can get it tomorrow morning, but its useless as I am busy, so Ill just hit up the midnight.
 
Two major things I am worried about: Tactical Nuke and Akimbo with SMGs. The tactical nuke is just crazy. I guess they're trying to make the matches more competitive, but I just don't like the idea of ending matches faster. SMGs using Akimbo sounds extremely overpowered. For those of you that have the copy early, what's your take on it?
