COD4 - official thread

Just popped the game in for the first time and went straight online, and it was amazing. Only played one match, but it's the most fun I've had w/ a FPS on a Playstation system, so far.

I'm leaving now to play dodgeball, but if I get back at a reasonable time (gotta drink and all that good stuff), I'm going to hop back on.

I knew that, but I don't now HOW to add them that way. :) I just got the game disc only so I don't have a manual. Any help is welcome, thanks.

Don't put a game in, go all the way to the right on your XMB, and then hit add friend. LoL

Do you mean, perhaps, how to invite friends from your friends list? When you go in a gametype, there is an option for "invite friends". Try that, if that's what you're looking for help on.

just got my copy yesterday used all my gamestop coupons came out to $41.18 havent played online yet but single player is CRAZY!!! Im playing on veteran to make the campaigne mode lost me alot longer but damn its rediculously hard:bomb: but im holding on lol my PSN is alumbrados87

None. Reach level 12 online and then enter your clan tag as CAG.

So can we (those of us who want to play in the clan) fill this out:

What I want to do is set up a few teams if we have enough people. For instance if 6 people can plan on Mondays and I can't, I will set up a seperate team to do so.

anyway, there should be seperate thread for that.

i just got cod4 about a week ago. im a little dissapointed i cant have the eotech holosight in multiplayer :(

and im not sure if its a glitch or not but sometimes when joining a game other peoples names are replaced with "Matched Player" and then when the game goes to load i get an error that the game closed. really wierd.
 
I have a few knocks agaist the game too, but they said they are working on an update to fix some issues.

One I keep running into is that it deletes my clan tag and custom kit names (weapons stay the same).

I also don't like how steady the zoomed scope is on the weapons. The range is a bit shorter then the sniper rifles', but still I'm getting picked off because I have to hold breath and aim the rifles. I can usually do it pretty quick, but my one shot vs straight spammed shots will usually get me killed unless I crack their helmets.

Yeah, that happens to me quite a bit. I used to try and use the sniper pack, but it's a big disadvantage most of the time. I think the radar hurts a lot too, you should be able to be "stealth" if you haven't taken a shot, unless somebody happens to stumble upon you.

But I still love this game. Pootie, I tried joining the party last night, but it gave me a connection error. I'll probably be on for a few games tonight, after the Duke game goes off if anyone wants to get a couple rounds in.

I'm not a 100% sure how well it works, but you can get a UAV Jammer unlock. I think it hides you from enemies when their UAV is up (not really sure, haven't done any testing).

Other then that, if you use a silencer, I don't think you show up on the radar (again untested) from what I've read. It decreases the amount of damage you do though. Where as if you shoot a gun without one, you'll show up as a dot on the enemy radar.

If you like playing without the radar, once you get high enough rank I would check out Hardcore when it unlocks. It removes the hud/radar, adds in team damage, and everyone does a little more damage.

I've had connection errors too like that by the way.

Oh, so on the lower levels, there's no friendly fire? Cause I've been playing a few team games and have held up shots because I thought I would kill friendlies.
 
Yeah, I'll be available all day. All of my family's going out of town, but I can't because of work. So I'll be looking to kill a few hours.
 
ok i just updated to 2.01 and now ive got a major problem... im pretty pissed.

whenever i try to connect to a game i get this error

"DW session create error 102 - 'BD_EXCEPTION_IN_DB'"




UPDATE: afer turning off my system and on again 3 times. it just started working again.... phew.. i was afraid id be stuck without it

UPDATE2: ok i played for about 5 minutes before i got an internet connection error and then the exception error upon arriving back in menu

Oh, you gotta be kidding me. I was trying to jump online in COD4 for the first time. The game was taking way too long to find me a match after a couple tries, so I exited back to the main menu and used the PS button to quit the game. The system then shut itself completely off after getting back to the XMB. Right now I just turned it back on so I could take the disc out.

I'm pissed b/c I just got my PS3 back 2 days ago. I have no idea what I should do.

I believe the first time the ProStreet demo killed it, and now it looks like COD4. I do have some custom College Hoops 2k7 rosters, but I don't think that those are the problem.

Do you think I should just try to play COD4 online again, play something else, or wait a while? I'd rather not avoid the issue, since that won't help me out in the long run.
 
Yeah I don't know whats going on with this thing lately. My stats were not counted from when I played last, grinding up 1000's of points to get lvl 50.

hey guys just started playing this on my sony bravia xbr2 and wanted to know why my screen resoultion is downcoverting to 720p with this game? on the back it says 1080p...

i read up on this in some other forum (googled it) and got this

the native resolution of the game (720) must be disabled in the system settings before the upconversion can take place.

so is it possible for it to go up to 1080p and what does that post mean?
 
just wait for the game to connect for cod4, it always takes awhile, so give it time then once your connected you can just keep playing games

It isn't downscaling, the game is rendered in 720P. What you want it to do is upscale to 1080P like you said. I don't know if it'll look that much better.

BUT how you do it is to go to "Settings"/"Display Settings"/"Video Output Settings", then select your connector type. Now it should ask you to select a setting method, choose "Custom". Then unhighlight 720p and make sure 1080p is highlighted (might try unhighlighting 1080i too if needed).

You're referring to my problem, right? Does that mean that the reset might have been a user error, not the game?
 
Guess it is back to Ratchet for a while. The stat issue is taking longer then I thought. I am seeing a lot of others complaining on various boards with no developers stepping up and talking about what is going on with the PS3 version. People are actually starting to say they are doing this to the PS3 owners on purpose. I doubt that, but people's confidence in their product and company is failing. They'll fix it and they'll come running back though hah.
 
Well, I don't know if I want to take my chances with this freakin' game any more. Maybe I should try to sell/trade it to somebody while the value is still up.
 
Back to NOT saving stats. Can't ANYONE put out a game that doesn't need to be patched 2 minutes after it has been released? I'm not liking this trend.
 
Stats are saving, double XP weekend... BUT the servers aren't working right and it is almost impossible to connect to a game. So glad I didn't pay full price for this.
