Completely addicted to TV on DVD

I've come to the conclusion that I'm an addict when it comes to buying season sets of TV shows on DVD and I'm just wondering if anyone else is. I'm sure some of you have more sets than I do, but I noticed a while ago that I hardly ever buy DVD movies, and if I do, they usually sit unwatched in my DVD cabinet for a while. Meanwhile, I watch my favorite TV DVDs over and over, and while my wife keeps telling me we have to cut back spending, I just keep buying more.

Here's what I've got so far. I have complete sets (at least as far as what's been released to this point) of Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Simpsons, Futurama, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, X-Files, Freaks and Geeks, King of Queens, South Park, MST3K....hmmm, I thought there was more. Well, that may not sound like a lot, but tell that to my wife. Plus I'm also going to be adding Monk (June 15), Reno 911 (June 22), Seinfeld, Scrubs, and Arrested Development whenever they come out.

So anybody else suffering from this affliction? Anyone with a list to shame mine?

Invader Zim, All simpsons, All Futurama, South Park, The Tick, Sitting Ducks (3-d cartoon...funny to me), and i know i have a few more. If you ad Japanese anime into the equation, then id have a monster list between me and my GF.

I really wish you wouldnt have mentiond Monk. That will be an instant purchase. One of the best murder mystery shows ever.

Monk is the greatest. I've been waiting for Season One to come to DVD, especially because I didn't discover the show until it's second season, so those episodes will all be new to me. Sweet. By the way, the best price I've seen for the Monk set is $38.99, with free ship, on deepdiscountdvd.com. (Not trying to plug them, just thought you might like to know)

It's so much better than watching the shows live. Between these DVD sets and TiVo, I don't watch very many shows when they are regularly aired.

38.99?...ill see what they show in the ads that week. I forgot about Family guy. I guess that would be part of that "more" of things i forgot.

yeesh, for the cost of ONE of those full sets of seasons of shows, you could have an upgraded tivo with enough space to keep ALL of those series on standby at all times.

I bought the first 2 seasons of the simpsons, and don't plan on buying any more of them. Those are the only tv shows on dvd I've ever bought, or ever will :)

I am with you man! I have kinda taken a break for a while, but I will get back to it. I currently have:

Dark Angel (Seasons 1 & 2)
Family Guy (Vol. 1 & 2)
The Shield (Season 1)
24 (1 & 2)
Profiler (1)
Six Feet Under (1)
Sopranos (1-4)
Band of Brothers
Buffy (1-4)
Angel (1 & 2)
Simpsons (1)
Alias (1 & 2)
Transformers (1)
Oz (1 & 2)
South Park (1-3)

I think I am missing some and my want list is even longer. Especially now that they are releasing classics like All in the Family and Sanford & Son. If I ever stop finding CAG deals, maybe I can work on my TV on DVD want list. :)
I'd recommend Firefly to anyone who likes Buffy & Angel.
I second that! Firefly was an excellent show.

Howd you score the chappelle show second series??? I know it aint for buying yet

Yeah another note, for the price that some of yall pay for these movies you could buy a vcr and many vhs tapes and just record them, or even better a dvd burner and dvr-rs and record them
Transformers (1)
How is that? I was thinking about getting it.

As for me, all I have is Simpsons Seasons 1 & 2 and Survivor Season 1. I still want to get the rest of the Simpsons and then the Friends seasons.

Family Guy 1 and 2
24 1 and 2
Cheers 1,2,3
Mr Show 1,2,3
Aquateen 1
Space Ghost 1
Chappelle 1
Sports Night complete

Both sets of 24 are the best money you could ever spend. You can't stop watching. A very easy way to kill a weekend.
yeesh, for the cost of ONE of those full sets of seasons of shows, you could have an upgraded tivo with enough space to keep ALL of those series on standby at all times.
Hardly. While it can be expensive, TV on DVD is much nicer than anything Tivo can do for you (think fantastic image quality, no commercials, and extra features). Plus, it's not like an upgraded Tivo could hold ALL of the shows he mentioned, and you'd have to wait for months for them to be shown on the air. And don't forget about the "I own them all" coolness factor that you get with DVDs. I'm not knocking Tivo, but it's not an alternative to buying the shows on DVD.

I've got complete collections of: Star Trek the original series (the worst ever, since they put only two episodes on a disc and charged a fortune for them), Star Trek the Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, The Simpsons, Futurama, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Red Dwarf and Fawlty Towers, and I'm working on Frasier, the Dick Van Dyke Show and a number of others.

I've got
Twilight Zone Collections 1,2,3,5
Simpson's Season 1
OZ Seasons 1-3
Buffy Seasons 1-5
Family Guy 1+2
Sponge Bob Season 1
South Park Seasons 1-3 on DVD
Every South Park Episode on CD
Firefly
Chappelle Show Season 1
Man. I want to buy MST3K. Why'd you have to tell me it's on DVD?
Sorry, man. Yeah, they have five collections out with random episodes, some with Mike, some with Joel. Obviously they can't do full season sets since each episode is more or less a full movie, so the collections have either 3 or 4 movies. The ones with three have collections of "shorts", those little 5-10 minute films on hygiene or whatever that they used to show kids in school way back when.

There are also several individual episodes available on single discs. I have four of these, but I think there are something like 12 or so out.
I'd recommend Firefly to anyone who likes Buffy & Angel.
Yeah, I can't believe I forgot about Firefly. I don't own it yet, but I will soon enough. I never saw it when it aired, but you can't go wrong with anything by Joss Whedon as far as I'm concerned. The only reason I don't own the Angel sets is that I have a friend who's a huge Angel fan, and she lets me borrow her sets whenever I want to watch them. It is a great show, though. I may still buy them myself, just for the sake of owning them. Like I said, it's an addiction.

One reason I like my RePlayTV better than TiVo is that I can use DVarchive to pull files off its hard drive over the network. Building libraries of your own edited down shows is very easy this way.

The commercial releases of the shows in season collections are usally a good value, especially if there is a lot of bonus material but it can take a long time for some of these to appear. Having your own compilation of the current season on DVD-R is a good way to draw your friends into appreciating a new show struggling for ratings before it disappears, especially if it's on Fox.

All I have right now is Family Guy Volumes 1 and 2, and Futurama Volumes 1 and 2. If I had the money I would get the Star Trek and X-Files DVDs.

Wow. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one addicted to TV DVDs. Since I really don't have a job, I don't have very many TV Dvds. I just own: Absolutely Fabolous (127 set, I think the entire series)
The Simpsons (Season 1),
Some Beverly Hillbillies Season One pack bootleg from WalMart,
Family Guy (Season 1&2),
I Love Lucy volumes 1,2,3, and 7 (Older tv shows are somewhat funnier than todays),
The Jeffersons (Season 1),
Like 4 Spongebob dvds,
also I owe some Golden Girls (they rule and I wish they were on dvd already) Vcd bootlegs from Ebay,
Strangers With Candy (Season 1 and 2 w/bonus extras) Vcd,
The Critic Vcd (bought before it came out on dvd)
Rocko's Modern Life ebay vcd ("Official" came from Italy and all regions??)

Ya, I need a job so I can buy some more. I guess I could go outside and get a little colour but I like being pasty white.
