CompUSA and their "clearance items", are they crazy?

I was at CompUSA today looking for anything on clearance and it seemed liked at least 25% of the games had clearance tags on them but when I saw the prices I couldn't believe it.

Burnout 2 for XBox was on clearance for $49.99. SSX Tricky for PS2 was on clearance for $19.88. There were at least a dozen $49.99 clearance games and just as many if not more greatest hits/platnium hits games on clearance for $19.88.

To make matters worse, most other games were on endcaps with no price tags or any indication of how much they were. I was about to leave but on this rack, I saw Ikaruga, Gallop Racer 2003 and Resident Evil 2. I asked for price checks on them, Ikargua was $34.88, Gallop Racer was $39.88 but the item that didn't make the whole trip a loss..Resident Evil 2 was $29.88!

Normally I wouldn't think $10 off a MSRP is a big deal but considering how rare the game is, I decided to pick it up. I know it was a good deal but I'm still confused on how CompUSA thinks $49.99 prices as a clearance is going to fool anyone.

wow, yeah RE2 for $29 is a great deal. Do a completed search on ebay for sealed copies of that game and see what it's selling for.

I did, I can't believe people are paying $100+ for it, a used one even sold for $105.

If someone really wanted the game, couldn't they just buy a used N64 for $10 and the game for under $10.

well yeah, but these are collectors (not very good ones if they are paying that much for games) that want it on gamecube because of its rarity. I don't think they care about playing it, they will keep it sealed most likely.

Yeah I guess that's true. I'll admit that the main reason I bought it is because of it's rarity (and the only other RE game I own, RE1 is also for GCN so I figured why not) but I wouldn't have been willing to pay more than $40 for it when I could have bought it for $4 new for N64 at Toys R Us a few months ago.

I hear ya. I passed on them when they were $40 too. I ended up trading for RE2 and got the other 2 rereleases (RE3, Code Veronica) for $35 for both (CC sale and gamecrazy). I'm just keeping them sealed as I have copies of them for other systems anyway.

This is why I avoid CompUSA most of the time. No good deals whatsoever. lol, minx your sig should have cockroahes instead!

I have the same problem with the one by me :whistle2:(

In fact, they even had Kabuki warriors discounted to $40 the same day I picked it up as a joke for five dollars -- unreal!

WHERE THE shaq-fu DID YOU COME FROM?!
I remember minx. Ah, the memories. What happened? Did you find an actual life like so many of us CAGs are trying to do.

Yeah I like how their sale prices for games are 5 bucks higher than the NORMAL prices at the store I by from in midtown. Whenever I need a laugh i just stop in and look at their prices.... you know, when they POST them that is, since half the time they dont put prices on them at all.
