CompUSA clearance YMMV

CAGiversary!
Was in the Modesto, CA CompUSA and they are clearing, out way to many to list, games from all systems, Xbox,PS2,GC, GBA and DS.

They were listed at 50% off their CompUSA list price.

The local compusa's here have been doing a clearence for a couple weeks now. Was able to pick up some nice stuff. Noticed that each compusa had different clearence prices for different games. Most of the prices ended in some wierd cents, like xx.58, xx.73.

KOTOR 2 - $12
Oddworld stranger - $12
Prince of Persia warrior within - $12
Viewtiful joe 2 - $7
Toejam and earl 3 - $7
Cold fear - $9
Snow blind - $9

Also saw devil may cry 3, god of war, and halo 2 collectors editions for about $25.

Some wierd games in there too, like Forza demo and conkers demo for $9, clearenced from $30

Hey, theres another Modesto CAG! I live across the street from the Modesto Compusa and can confirm. I did notice the titles mentioned as well as a few others.. Nothing really caught my eye though.

Hot Shots Golf Fore - $9.xx
Ratchet and Clank UYA - $9.xx
Sly 2 - $9.xx

I don't see PC Games in your "all systems" list. Are they excluded?

Thx in advance

one of the CompUSAs by me had a big clearance bin set up in the front of the store with signs on it marked "All Games $9.88"

i grabbed
Blinx - XB (PH)
Blinx 2 - XB
Onimusha Blade Warriors - PS2
Lord of the Rings: Two Towers - GCN
Dynasty Tactics 2 - PS2
Beyond Good and Evil - PS2

i also saw
Resident Evil Zero - GCN
Front Mission 4 - PS2
Balders Gate: Dark Alliance - PS2 (GH)
Final Fantasy X-2 - PS2
and a few other titles i cant remember.

when the cashier started ringing up the games, some of them came out at $19.99 but i told her they came from the bin. she changed the price on all the games to $9.88

that's decent prices for those titles. the only one i would've grabbed for 10 is resident evil.

and yessshhhh, bawls is the shizniiit

Nothing good at the Salt Lake City CompUSA, the "clearance" shelf had Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for $18, ToeJam & Earl III for $30, and one copy of Robot Alchemic Drive (all PS2) that I thought about but passed on for $35.

Aside from that, it was all overpriced sports titles from the last two years, and the jampacks that everyone's crazy about. Nothing spectacular in the Xbox or GCN sections either. Not worth the trip.

Came back from another compusa (rt17 paramus nj). They had 1.88 clearence guides as well. Picked up:

Final Fantasy X and Fable guides for 1.88. Also picked up pariah, unreal championship 2, and rise of the kasia for $9.88 each.

The CompUSA in Grand Rapids, MI has quite a few titles on 'clearance', mixed among the regularly priced games and back on the clearance shelf. From memory:

Gamecube
Wave Race: Blue Storm - $36.xx
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within - $36.xx
Pokemon Colosseum - $16.98
Medal of Honor: Rising Sun - $8.98
Trigger Man - $8.98

Nintendo DS
Sprung - $16.98
Yoshi Touch & Go - $16.98
Ridge Racer DS - $16.98
Asphalt: Urban GT - $16.98

There were a couple dozen PS2 and X-Box games on clearance, but I don't recall which titles. Nothing really stood out (good or bad, cheap or expensive) among them.

Picked up Unreal Championship 2 (XB) and Star Ocean Till the End of Time Collector's Edition (PS2) for $10 each. Not sure if the UC2 was a price mistake, because I saw UC1 for the same price right next to it - but then again there was a sign saying selected games from $19.99-$49.99 were all 9.99.

Tallahassee Comp USA has Orange Dots on a number of X-Box games. They are right buy the front door on a table. Some decent deals, but nothing spectacular.

I went to the CompUSA in Mission Viejo, CA, site of many a disappointment.
There was a box of crappy XBOX games marked clearance and 50% off.

However, the 50% off sign said that the games that were 50% off were those
marked category D66 or A66. In English, that translates to any game that is
marked as the usually-laughable "Manager's Special".

I don't know if PS2 and GameCube games were also on sale, but many were
marked with an A66 or D66 on their tag. I just didn't see anything I wanted,
but there were an awful lot of games.

Dude I been there the first time (last week) and got God of War, Tekken 5, PoP WW Xbox, + other for half price since they all marked N66 & D66.

However the next day, I brought out the same thing plus other more and the Manager (black shirt guy) said that 50% OFF only for the xbox game INSIDE the RACK (junk & overprice). I then told him isn't the game MARKED with N66 & D66 is ALL 50% OFF on the Yellow Sign. He told me that only XBOX Game inside the RACK then I said fine i don't want any of these.:bomb:

I come back 2 days later and this time the other guy said that all games with MANAGER SPECIAL tag that sticked on the case are all 50% OFF. Most of them are junk and overprice...

I will check back later on...

On Black Friday I got Eternal Darkness, F1 2002, Starfox Adventures (black label), and Wave Race: Blue Storm for $9.99 each. Then I went to another CompUSA, asked to buy their black-label Zelda WW, and it was still $49.99. I just said, "well, I won't buy it at that price," and left..

My CompUSA had plenty of games but the average price was $30. They wanted 35 for Eternal Darkness, which you can get anywhere for $15-20 now. Some "clearance!"

Went back over the weekend and found that most of the games are now marked down even more.

Picked up:

Arx Fatalis for 9.99
Star Fox Assault 14.99
Wave Race Blue Storm 4.99
Zoocube 4.99
Fatal Frame 2 9.99
KOTOR 2 12.50

Damn that KOTOR 2 is a VERY good price. My compusa is oraganized but keeps it stuff at MSRP, i'll go back and see if they have a clearance thing now.
This is going to be huge YMMV, CompUSSR sales are always at the managers discretion
The CompUSA managers in Memphis aren't even aware they sell games....or what their name is for that matter....

On the subject of strategy guides at Comp USA. I picked up a couple copies of the strategy guide for Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance for the PS2 about 2 or 3 weeks ago and the price tag said 12.99 but the rang up for 1 cent. Not sure if more are like this but if you see that one grab it because it should ring up for a cent.

NOTE: Online CompUSA has some deals that are better that what comes up on the CAG-O-METER.

The following deals are online:

Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood (XB, PS2, PC): $29.99
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Lockdown (XB, PS2): $29.99
Peter Jackson's King Kong (XB, PS2): $39.99

These online deals have been changing daily since I have been scanning their site this weekend.

Holy shit.

A couple weeks ago i got advance wars 2: black hole rising for gba for like 17$ it was 50% off $33.xx (this was a new and sealed copy). The only other gba/ds game i saw there was a spider man ds game for 50% off probably 39.99.

They WILL NOT give you the sale price unless the game has a clearance sticker that says 50% off, beware of the clerks cause they will not give you the 50% off unless you ask (even if the game has the sticker, they will pretend to not notice the sticker and attempt to charge you full price for the game since thats how it rings up in the register), and it takes about 15 min for them to figure out how to change the price in the register.

Stopped in the Geneva, IL store tonight.
Clearance games are buy two get one free.

Not much to choose from, but got a copy of Resident Evil 4 for Gamecube for $24

Was in CompUSA last Saturday, and there weren't too many games worth mentioning. However, I went back tonight, and a bunch of the games were marked down even further--many to $2.99, $4.99, and $9.99. There were still the vast majority of "clearance" games that were overpriced at $25, but you might be able to find a few decent deals in there that weren't there before.

Reading through this thread, I'm wondering if some of the other games might ring up cheaper than the price on the sticker.

This was at the CompUSA in Monroeville, PA.
