Yes, I admit it. I am a PSP pimp. Every chance I get, I am pushing this product as the best thing since sliced bread. I've been responsible for the sale at least 5 PSPs (two of which I own). I can't resist talking to complete strangers about the myriad ways that the PSP will enrich their lives. Hell, I even advise people on which peripherals to get which to avoid (screen protectors anyone?). My wife keeps telling me that I should earn a commission from all of the sales I've been involved with. My payment is the satisfaction that I have helped someone acheive a higher level of being. A utopian plateau of gaming geekdom.

Are you a PSP pimp?
You send me one as a birthday gift and I'lll pimp it till the cows come home!
LOL!

The second one I bought for the wife so she could play Lumines whenever she feels like it. The benefits of that purchase far outweighed the cost.

I am just not having fun with mine. I couldn't wait for Coded Arms or Midnight Club, and they were both huge letdown's IMO. Maybe when they library of games pick's up, I will be. But as of right now, I am definatly not a PSP Pimp.

The thing that makes me want one is the Logitech clear case. Personalizing the PSP with art is very cool. I have a feeling when i get one I'll use it to watch movies more than play games though.

Good lord!

Your problem is cost. Most people who have that kind of money aren't going to spend it on that sort of PSP bundle. Who the heck is going to play, and more importantly enjoy, all those games? I know someone who would probably buy the PSP and some of the games but certainly not all of them. You might get your asking price if you split up the inventory into several bundles.

I agree with Daphatty here on that bundle. If you broke it up you would more than likely make your money back. I know many people(myself included) are looking for some of those games that are offered.

Man, my PSP has been collecting dust; there just isn't a game out the interests me (maybe Hot Shots Golf...). It's lost it's initial wow factor...I've been buying and selling a lot though. If anyone lives in the NYC they would know about the druggies that steal boxes of PSPs and sells them for 100 cash a piece (I bought 4 once) in Washington Heights and the Inwood area. I guess that's true pimping

I think I might have gotten a couple people to buy one. They were impressed so much by it. Although, I may have stopped a friend of mine from getting one. I said that the PSP is worth it, but it just costs so much with memory sticks that you'll have to put in atleast $400 to really enjoy your PSP.

Dang! I don't even own that many Playstation or Playstation 2 games yet and I have both systems since their launch.

You want help getting rid of it? Hint: Split it up. I doubt anyone has $800+ to spend on a PSP.

I only got the PSP because I found one at the Alco store for $150 brand new.

So far, it is nice, but I can't find any games on the horizon I want. Where's my Kingdom Hearts? Final Fantasy?

I was a huge PSP pimp when I first got it (talked it up big time to some guy at Multimedia 2.0, Defender's former store), but much of the sheen has fallen off for me.

I'm mainly using mine to play decades old games on an emulator and watch movie files. While certainly cool, I can't really justify telling friends to get one.

That being said, I'm quite excited for Burnout Legends, as it may get me to dust it off for UMD gaming for the first time since NBA Street Showdown.

I've also got my eye on the DS just because it seems to have more *fun* games on it. Maybe in a year or so, I'll be back to singing the praises of the PSP. But for now, it just isn't living up to its promise as an amazing gaming machine.

Agreed with everything said up here... Hot Shots Golf was the last game I got and loved... Coded Arms and MC 3 were huge letdown's. I'm hoping Death Jr and Burnout Legends are worth it, along with some of the more obscure games like Popolocrois, but these days I'm having my doubts.

I've got eight games so far, yet the system still collects dust. I play the DS almost every day, though... I guess the games just feel more "fresh" and innovative.

Yeah, I sold My DS and most of my GBA games after I got my PSP ( at launch ) . Recently bought another DS since they came out with the Blue & free Mario. I really hope some great stuff starts coming out for PSP soon or it will be going Bye Bye for some 360 money.

I have to agree with you bud...Coded & DUB sucked, glad I got them for a good price trading them in didnt sting as bad...

Agreed... I'm giving the PSP until the holiday season to really wow me, or else I'll probably get rid of mine too.

There's alot of games I want to be good... let's just hope they can live up to that expectation.

i think the lesson here would be to not abandon a system for another system, as it usually ends in regret, but it dosent appear the lesson has taken very well...

As soon as you put one in a case, it's too big.As soon as you own a few games, you need another case. As soon as you want to watch a movie, the battery's dead. As soon as you want to play a port of a game, you wait 2 minutes to boot it. Aside from the screen the PSP is a Piece Of Poop.

I have found the DS to be in my bag at all times, and the PSP to be at home depleting its tiny battery all by itself. And I have to say that the screen makes no difference in that decision. It all came down to the games which are better for the DS and the fact that I am not willing to pay console prices for PSP games, Let alone a UMD movie. Mine is going bye bye at 360 launch. NINTENDOSOFT shall be the partys of choice for me.
nope. i pimp the DS more because it is more fun, period. its all about the games stupid.
I'm having plenty of fun with my PSP games, so I don't know what you're talking about. Ridge Racer and Lumines are keeping me plenty busy, and when I tire of those, I've got Wipeout Pure, Darkstalkers Chronicle and Twisted Metal waiting for me. And I plan on getting Metal Gear Ac!d. That's enough to keep me happy for a while.

When I do get a DS, which will be a while, the only games I want for it right now are Meteos and Kirby Canvas Curse. 2 Games. I want Castlevania when it comes out, but the DS library hasn't impressed me any more than the PSP library, that's for sure.

I'm not saying one system is better than the other, but I am saying that it's more fun to show people how pretty most of the current PSP games are than actually playing them .

The psp needs more original games, and less attempted ps2 ports. I love it, but I knew this would happen, all the hype over the launch and then there would be tons of fallout as people realized they just paid $100 more for a portable ps2.

Hell yeah! I love my PSP, and I've gotten several people I know to buy one. I'm still having lots of fun with Lumines, Hot Shots Golf, Wipeout, and Darkstalkers, and now that I have a big ass memory stick I have tons of stuff like emulators, MP3s, TV shows, pictures, manga, etc. on there too. It's like there's always something to keep me occupied when I'm bored and away from home, I love it.

Maybe someday the PSP will have games that are actually as cool as the PSP is. Seriously. Playing Lumines on a PSP is like bringing a Stealth Bomber to a drive in movie. I can just play Meteos on my DS.

And you're right. it is about the Games. This is why in a few weeks the DS will probably be the best selling console in Japan this year.

This weeks Japanese Console Sales(year):

NDS: 41,503 (1,112,952)
PS2: 28,711 (1,128,763)
PSP: 20,390 (1,020,458)

That's just because they love their Nintendogs

correct. Its the games that sell the system. Brain Training for Adults is selling strong too, its strange.

Edit: It always cracks me up to see Japanese Xbox sales. Especially when it was being outsold by things like the Wonderswan. I think Electroplankton is outselling Xbox.

it IS pretty funny how nintendo can release a game people want to buy a system in order to play.

Well, that's awesome that DS sales have skyrocketed in Japan recently, but I fail to see how this is relevant in a PSP thread in any way.

unless the new system plays every game, of every system, you get rid of :whistle2:#

i suppose that would work (getting rid of a master system for a genny, a ps1 for a ps2, a gbc for a gba, ect.)

I too am a PSP pimp. I have sold at least 4 of these (and probably even more). I play this everywhere I go and people notice it and many ask me what it is. Their jaw drops when I show them Wipeout Pure and they say they will get one or at least say they think it is cool. The four I have sold are to friends of mine, but I bet a lot of strangers bought one after they saw mine.
I dunno, I havn't touch my psp in months...

The ds is gettin alot play through...
WTF do you play? I need a game for my DS, but I can't find anything I like. All the games seem gimiciky or way too short. I am sure that once I get Advance Wars DS however, I will be playing a lot more of my DS.
The thing that makes me want one is the Logitech clear case. Personalizing the PSP with art is very cool. I have a feeling when i get one I'll use it to watch movies more than play games though.
I thought that using the PSP for a movie player was stupid, until I saw it in action. That little screen is beautiful.

That being said, I still can't spend money on a movie that is crappier and more expensive than a DVD. However, I would be really psyched if those places in airports started renting out UMD's. That would be so sweet.

well i have lumines, hot shots, metal gear ac!d, ape escape, wipeout pure, dynasty warriors. so maybe half of the games i picked up were shitty, but I like to think i got a fair representation of all the basic genres that the PSP covers.. got tired of 3gp-ing videos on to PSP, and watching on the 4.3" widescreen is beautiful...but against a DLP? no contest. Not interested in homebrew but i do keep up with the stuff to see if there are going to be any ORIGINAL homebrew apps--not just playing SNES games. PSP hardware>NDS by ten fold but i still find myself playing DS games even though i didn't pick up my DS until the SM64 offer. Compare that with the PSP which i got at launch, give or take 2 months head start with PSP. I'm not dissing on my PSP or regretting it, but just stating the fact because im lucky enough to have two choices.

on the horizon, death Jr and virtua tennis are the only thing on the PSP that interests me. On the DS, I get the nintendo franchises that have been exclusive to nintendo, with AAA status-- advance wars, nintendogs, and a sleeper hit? nanostray.
nope. i pimp the DS more because it is more fun, period. its all about the games stupid.
*your having less fun than me, asshole*

The PSP Pimp Strikes Again!

Just got another colleague to buy a PSP. He's picking up a Best Buy bundle pak with Ape Escape and Wipeout. Eventually, he's going to delve into the wonderful world of DVD conversion because he travels so much. One more notch on the pimp belt...

Mod Note - While I appreciate the DS fan enthusiasm, please keep it in the appropriate thread. This is not a DS vs. PSP thread. If you don't like the PSP, don't come here to shit on it. Thank you.

Whenever I run into anyone that is considering buying a PSP, I always have to mention this feature: When you are playing a game and the battery runs out, the PSP goes into a sleep mode. Just plug in the power cord, turn the PSP on, and you pick up right where you left off. I love it.

I have stayed away from the PSP vs. DS bull for a little while now. I promised Quackzilla and Mooky that I would stay away from fanboy crap posting and I have. However to use your mod status to ask people not to bring up the DS is just not right. Your post was based on your opinion which other people are stating as well. From the posts I read they were only stating their opinions (some were from people who owned both) on what they thought. Don't get me wrong there were a couple of crappy posts in there but just because your opinion is in favor of the PSP doesn't give you the right for people who own a PSP not to be able to express their opinion on it. Even if it is in a negative way. If you want to delete the fanboy "I'm having more fun" garbage do it but let the intelligent posts stay.

Actually, he can do that because this thread is about PSP pimping, not DS vs. PSP crap. It is HIS thread, and therefore, he can decide what can and cannot be said.

Alright, this is stupid. He's just saying keep the DS stuff out of THIS thread because it's centered around PSP related things. He's not using his mod powers to march into the DS forums like some Hitler figure and saying they can't talk about DS stuff. Case closed.

wow that helped the last page of posts..

daphatty put up a poll on this thread on how many strangers have asked about it... I am curious to what peoples answers will be.

it may not relate directly to sales but will show the interest.

I just had a 50 something year old lady frothing at the mouth when she saw my PSP. After I explained what the PSP is, all she had to say was, "That's smoother than sex!"

I respect your opinion, but if you think my "mod note" was directed at the intelligent posts in this thread (or any others for that matter) then you have missed the whole point. I want flamers and thread crappers to know that we have a place for them. It's called the Vs. Mode forum.

Sorry about that, DaPhatty - the DS talk is mostly my fault.

I only brought it up as part of my PSP analysis - in another world, if the DS didn't exist, I think I would be less jaded about my PSP. But because I have a basis for comparison, I can't help but feel my PSP Pimp-ism fade.

But like I said, I'm sure I'll be in a pimping mood once I start longer commutes again and Burnout Legends comes out. :D
