Crackdown - Gen. Discussion & Info

A much easier way to get Repo Man is to just do the time trial with the Volk boss at the boat, I got it after about an hour or so of playing.
You have to pull gang members out of their cars on the street. Its kind of hard to do because a lot of the time they jump out of their cars. I have been working on it I probably got about 20-30 pulls so far. The Volk seem easier because of the slow large vehicles they drive.
According to this guy's guide, you don't have to hijack them to count:

23. Repo Man (10) - Commandeer 100 gang-controlled vehicles.

Easy, go to Boss locations and enter all the enemies vehicles, go around the city
stealing gang cars.

I pretty much get into any enemy vehicles car any time I spot one, wheter its empty or not, I just get in, drive for a sec and get out and do it again. Haven't done it for too long but I'd say I'm probobly half way or more to the achievment.
so you bought it?
Yup. Down to the last general in the first island area. The car guy was tough. Lighthouse worse.

Maybe it only works in ones that were driven by gang members at one point. I had a similar idea and just used the Garage at the back of Timbol's area in the Shai Gen district. Hopped in all 9-10 cars, drove off until they respawned and repeated. Did it for at least a half hour and didn't get the achievement.

Really? The lighthouse was easy for me, didnt even have to use a rocket launcher.

I haven't found any good weapons yet, except for one at the lighthouse.

Ok I've searched through this thread and can't find it discussed so here goes...

What's the deal with all the zip lines all around the city? How do you use them? Can they be used at all? The manual doesn't say (that I can find).
Are they electrical lines?
Yeah any lines. I see cables running all over the city from roof tops but I can't figure out what to do with them.

Look at them and be immersed in the virtual city, of whose graphical features include realistic-looking powerlines.
I'll give you $35 for it!

Let me be the one to heal your video game suffering ;)
I'll get rid of it soon.

Game ended way too fast......... I'm thinking of selling off my copy on ebay. It was one of the most fun games while it lasted though.

Although, the fun of just doing random stuff in the city wore off about the time I beat the game, so all-in-all I guess it was well timed for me. Still probably sunk about 15 hours in messing around, powernig up, etc.

I definitely agree with another poster here who suggested to up the difficulty level to medium at least. I feel sorry for those of you crying that it was too short that beat it on easy. Just like I feel sorry for those people that beat Gears on easy.

Crackdown is much more fun, and challenging, now that I've upped to medium. On easy it felt like I was practically invincible most of the time. Now I actually have to put thought and strategy into some of the bosses, and take cover more.

More of these games need to come defaulted on medium setting to avoid so much crying that it's too easy. Of course then we'll have the same people crying it's too hard (Alien Hominid), so maybe it's a no-win situation.

This game is just plain fun. I didn't really like the demo but probably did not give it enough time. I love it because you can pop it in and play for a little while and pop out. Is there a weapons list of all weapons available or which ones are the most powerful?

having a lot of fun playing co-op with my little brother. Driving kinda sucks, I keep running people over and lowering my driving skill.

i am at work right now, so i cant check...

can you watch any of the video's from the game once you have seen them once? (such as the ending)
the Shai-Gen are a pain in my ass right now

I want to try and max out my driving skill, but I'm having too much fun jumping around rooftops.
Two words for you: Truck Cab. The GAgency Truck Cab just destroys people and can really boost your driving rating (and get you in a lot of trouble with the police as well. ;)

I played on Ruthless. It was easy and fucking short.

In fact, I'd regularly turn it up to Insane just so there would be some fucking enemies to kill and get XP from.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I level up my driving skills.

I just beat the game this morning. Though short, I still found it to be really fun. I can't count how many hours flew by while jumping around rooftops, blowing crap up, or level grinding my stats.

I still have to 4-Star my driving and explosive skills, but I will probably do that later. Now that I've beat this game I can focus on GRAW 2 and come back occasionally to level up/get achievements.

Is there any way we can just fight the bosses again?
man, this game coul dhave so much damn fun if they allowed 4 players or hell even just a deathmatch mode....

Yup. Time trial mode.
You can do time-trial co-op I believe.
just played some, fun added some life to the game. But still...
So when is the next 100 points coming out?! (Does anyone know what it is yet?!)
What about more agent skins?

..Something?!
After I sell my copy. Im going Vegas baby!

playing coop and the kingpin for los muertos isn't showing up. His place is deserted. Anything special I have to do to be able to face kingpins?

I noticed this also. me and my friend had ot be close enough to get the intel at the same time. If you are already there, then you have to leave and come back.

It's not just the kingpins that do it, any boss will unfortunately do it if you two are too far apart. Easiest way to fix it, at least from my troubles, is just run back to a supply point and then to the boss - everything should be fine after that.

RUMOR ALERT!!!

A tipster on the MSXbox World forums claims to have some details about the upcoming downloadable content for Crackdown. Some of these details aren't exactly new. For instance, the content should include the missing 100 achievement points and it should be free (according to recent policy changes, it has to be free, actually). There are, however, some things we hadn't heard yet. For example, the content is likely to include several new gameplay elements including vehicle impounding, street races with AI controlled cars, new equipment, new agent skins, and new mini-games. Unfortunately, all we have to go on is that the MSXbox World tipster has a reliable -- yet unnamed -- source for this info. So, for the moment, we'll take it with a grain of salt.

Sounds sweet if true.

Wow... kinda sounds like they are adding back in the rest of the game.

If the rumor pans out, I'll buy Crackdown since I'll finally be able to get the "full" version. I wonder how rushed this game was considering all the development time it got?

lol I just sold my copy on ebay for $40. I suppose If this is trueI can just buy it back for like $19 in the future when they release this content.

Beat the game last night, but still played it today. I have 10 or so agility orbs left to get, which is going to be a pain. Only 2 rooftop races to beat, too; at first, I thought you only had to complete them, not beat the time set. Just starting to get used to the 4-star driving Agency vehicles.

Also, for the "jack 100 gang cars" achievement, do people need to be driving the cars? I could swear I've entered/driven that man cars, just going to defeated boss areas and taking the gang-centric cars parked there.

Yeah you have to pull out the driver in order to get credit for it.

This one is such a pain in the ass, because if the gang members are wanting to fight you, they just get out of the car before you can carjack them.

*Stay in the car, stay in the car.... oh fuck, why are you getting out of the car!*

I think Im going to try and grab some more achievements on crackdown today. I'm off sick yet again so I need something to do.

PLEASE let their be an agency motorcycle!!!

I've spent a better part of the morning leveling up my driving skill. It was my least favorite part of the game.

So now I have 4-stars on every skill and I'm wondering if I should go for the Master Agent achievement.

D'oh-eth! Boy, that hour or so total I spent getting into and out of parked cars was sure time well spent...
