I thought about going Amex, but I was on a business trip in Canada, and about 75% of the places I went, they wouldn't accept it. It was the company credit card, so instead I had to use my personal Visa, then get reimbursed.
Last night I saw a commercial for a B of A card (used to have one, but they fouled up mailing me statements for three months, then refused to remove one late payment fee as a courtesy when I hadn't late paid a bill in my life. Their VP of Customer Service actually called me and told me they were using my call in their training sessions now because it was an example of all the wrong things to do with respect to Customer Service). Anyway, the B of A commercial was 1% cashback on normal purchase, 2% on groceries, 3% on gas. Seems decent. I bank there, so I might check it out today.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep em coming!
Yeah, thats the downside of AMEX, not everyone takes them. Mainly because they have a higher merchant fee if I remember correctly. The upside is that if you have any problems, they get resolved right then. For example, back in late Feb '10, they called me to inquire about a 1200 dollar charge that had just been made. It sure as hell wasn't me that did it! Literally, within the first couple minutes of the call, they said they were sending me another card and they had taken care of everything, right as I was about to ask to cancel that card and send me another. Not to mention the many instances of a merchant screw up and they jump right on it.
Just seems the one card I can never get is a MasterCard. Or as I say about them, "Everywhere you want to be, but don't have the credit limit for!"
