Dante's Inferno - Out NOW!

sorry to bump this, but when do you get to redeem the code that came w/ the Divine Edition? is it for stuff coming out? when I entered the code it says its not valid! I want to get that one costume, but have no idea if it is the one thats included w/ the code..anyone else redeem theirs yet?

and this game rules, I don't regret paying full price, its really fun!
The paper that has the code on it says that stuff is coming out in March.
yeah, I noticed that, and since I was search lazy before I posted here, I googled searched it and read all about it on the Playstation Forums. however, w/ the release of that costume item, I thought stuff was maybe starting to hit..

this, and how EA has done w/ ME2 and DAO, I thought the code would unlock a 'network' so to speak, and you could get all your stuff there when available.

sorry guys!

Question for PS3 owners of this game. Is the soundtrack and other extras locked to the disc or can they be copies to the PS3 HDD so I could transfer them to my PC later. Mainly wanting the soundtrack but also wouldn't mind the digital version of the novel as well.

Reason I ask is Target will be selling this next week for $40 and I have $40 in gift cards so I'm going to get the PS3 version because of the extras.
This game is great so far, but I'm worried about the latter half of the game since people seem to be bashing it. :[
Only Circle 8 is really bad... and not really bad, more like they just ran out of ideas it seems. The commentary is good, though.

I think the game got slammed a ton unfairly.. I just got done playing God of War 2, and by the second half of the game I had already fought most of the enemies and they didn't really change it up - this is something a lot of reviews slammed Dante's Inferno on. Hell, most people just use one or two combos in GoW too, same as Dante. In fact, a lot of the problems people had with this game, imo, are pretty apparent in both GoW and GoW 2 (and I love both games a ton).

The one thing I really have to slam this game on is that it seems like they just ran out of steam near the end... the last circle is really short for being so great looking (and a nice change of pace), and the game just kind of loses fuel instead of driving towards an epic ending.

Last boss was stupidly hard, too... takes way too much damage to defeat.

This game isn't being unfairly judged... GoWII came out in 07, and Visceral Games clearly lifted the combat from GoW but they didn't really improve anything on what GoWII (or really, even the original GoW) had already established. Enemies might have been just as varied but they sure weren't smarter, not to mention most of the game felt too easy (on normal). The only time I died by an enemy's hands was the 2nd form of the final boss. Critics have every right to be harsh.

It's not a bad game though, by any means. I enjoyed it, for what it's worth (except for the story, maybe).

Hey guys, the code that came with the Divined Edition can't be redeemed :( It says it's invalid... Maybe because the DLC is not out yet?

They did ran out of ideas at the end... You can tell that even some of the caves/platforms/ropes/walls are reused/rearranged in pointless manner. Thank goodness that you can unlock all of the trophies on Classic mode. I can't imagine myself playing the game again on harder difficulties, especially toward the end of the game. There will be a sequel though because
it says TO BE CONTINUED at the end

Did anybody bothered by Dante's
pecker at the end?
. Do we really need to see that? Even though it's sort of, ahem, in it's natural state

How could you redeem the code when it isn't out yet, that would be kinda impossible, no?

You were bothered by Dante's penis but not Satan's?

Look at some of the bonus videos on the disc, there's a whole video (maybe just a part of it) about them making it.

LOL, forgot about that totally :) The Divined Edition came with that stuff, man, i forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. I rarely watch the bonus video stuff, but if i like the game, i almost already do. But i don't think i want to see Satan's
pecker

Different game, but similar topic
Did you know that for God of War, the original cyclop designs have penises? Man, i'm so glad the devs left that out  But then in God of War II, it's so weird to see the naked Titans without private parts...

I just tried to redeem the DLC code from the Divine edition and it says it's invalid, even though it seems the DLC is already up on the PSN. I think it's called the "Dark Forest Pack" or something. The contents of the pack seem to match up with what it says on that DLC sheet from the Divine edition.

Now along with the Heavy Rain DLC that's not working yet, this whole pre-order DLC stuff is really starting to piss me off.

Yep, I can't redeem it either.

Yeah, my code worked fine. I didn't dare try in game..backed out to the PS Store, redeemed code there. 367mb DL I think..Loaded up the game and saw the Black Forest under "Play Downloadable Content" but I'm not quite sure where the relic or costume is or how you access them..

anyways, this game still rocks! Gotta finish it soon. Its also the only game I've ever got over 10% on trophies for (keep in mind, I only whore myself out to the 360, this is probably why..)

I loved this game to death. I thought the settings was very evocative of the mood it tried to create, and goddamn was I blown away. God of War rip off or not who gives a fuck? I see games like Saints Row get better scores than Dantes Inferno and thats just as much a carbon copy as this is. And you certainly couldn't pick a better game to model after yours to begin with. I'd love to see Homer's Illiad and Odyssey reimagined in the same vein as Dantes Inferno, and the story wouldn't be as much of a stretch to adapt as the Divine Comedy is. So many reviewers just seem to be out of touch, at least in regards to my own personal tastes. Not that I knock them for that, games have much more subjectivity to them than movies or music. You can watch a movie no problem unless your blind, you can listen to music unless your deaf, but there are plenty more variables in place to create such critical relativism as I'm seeing more and more such as: Does your system not play the game properly, is your controller broken in a bit too much for certain button combinations, do you flat out suck at a game and declare the game sucks because you do? Between all the shit heaped on Dantes Inferno and Dark Void, two games I thoroughly enjoyed through and through, any guidance I find myself taking away from a review is less and less.

So I finally got around to playing Dark Forest.

It is utter and absolute shit. I don't know where people are getting the 30 minutes of gameplay from, because I got 10 on normal. The "new enemies" are simply reskinned variants of the lust demon and the regular demons, and the dark forest maze is just some sloppily thrown together BS.

It adds nothing to the story, and in fact just confuses the story more, because Beatrice already appears as a ghost despite Dante not even knowing she's dead yet? Her lips don't even move while she speaks. Very poor production values.

If you got this for free with your purchase, I guess try it out for the two easy trophies. But never, ever pay $5 for this garbage. I've played a ton of DLC and this one has no redeeming value whatsoever, imo. This is something that should have been left on the cutting room floor.

Awesome DLC. got 2 hours out of it and it was free!. Clears up a lot of plot holes in the story about the guy who killed dantes dad and beatrice. Worth the 5 bucks if you got it. Better than any of the borderlands dlc or resident evil 5 stuff that just came out

I just ordered the divine edition and am wondering the same thing. Can i access any of the below content without having the disc in the ps3? In case i trade it in later.

 • Wayne Barlowe Digital Art Book
 • Developer Documentary
 • Digital copy of the Longfellow translation of Dante’s Inferno
 • 20 song soundtrack from the game

Nope, it's locked on the disc.

Aww damn, thanks for the info. Should have gotten the 360 version then. Well i was planning on keeping the game, but if i can trade it in for 0-5 bucks less than what i paid for it, i think ill give it up.

Just beat this game, its an okay game, but its not god of war. Even though it really is trying to be. There were parts that just made me shake my head, like dying 5-6 times just trying to swing from a rope, and grab onto some zip line type rope. The camera angle was so bad i really couldnt tell where i was going wrong. Then when you turn levers in circles, you just hold the analog either left or right the whole time. You dont rotate the analog like you would in god of war. There are also a few parts where enemies keep coming when you are trying to do something, like push a platform up a hill, if you let go it rolls back down. Those parts were annoying. Its still a pretty interesting game, the ending was kind of cool. Satans penis was really too much, i can see why the god of war team decided to keep the cyclops penis out of their game. Anyway rent it if you like god of war games, but i wouldnt really recommend people to buy this, not unless its around 20 bucks. Or you really are a big fan of the dantes inferno book. Now i gotta replay the game again to get the rest of the trophies.

Been playing this the past week, in the middle of Fraud trying to get the combo trophy. I keep finishing the challenge before 666 hit counter... sigh.

Planning on going back and getting the trophies though. It's an ok game. The monsters do get re-used way too much. They have so much opportunity to make each circle very unique, but they didn't.

What I absolutely hated is some of the bugs that cause you to die. You slide on moving platforms, for example. That's killed me at least twice cause I didn't realize I was moving when standing still.

There's a scripted jump that I keep dying at for no reason either. The place where there's two furnaces spitting out fire and you can jump between them with your scythe. I died like 5 times there before I went, "Screw this, I'll do it the cheap way" and used my invincibility magic and just stayed on one side.

If I had paid much more than $20, I would not have been happy. But once I'm done, I could always flip it to goozex or something, so it made me less hateful towards this game. I like the setting though, tbh.

You're doing it on the correct challenge right? The one where you need to kill people in the air? Just spam the cross since it doesn't launch enemies unless you do that one move.

Yep. Every 100 or so hits, I'll get an air kill. I'm going to try the one where you keep 2 innocent guys alive.

do you have the appropriate relics equipped? Have you maxed out your "Holy" path? I remember having a difficult time with this originally, but on my 2nd playthrough, I used a configuration of relics that gave me TONS of extra hits in my combos. I just spammed the cross.

The problem wasn't that it was resetting. It was finishing the challenge before I got the 666 hits doing it in the 5 air kills challenge. Instead, looking around online, I tried doing it at the 8 seconds in the air challenge, and got it first try.

Platted it over the weekend, btw. Took a little longer than most, since I played through the first time without looking at a single guide, so I missed a lot of things I shouldn't have. And I leveled the dark path first to level 5, then started using auto-absolve, so I actually didn't know about the absolve minigame till towards the end of the second play through, which made getting souls more tedious.

Also realized on my second play-through that I encountered a bug I didn't know occurred, when I got a relic from fighting the brother. So somehow, I missed a story relic on the first play-through. This game is pretty buggy =P

Noticed that Dante's Inferno "Trials of St Lucia" DLC on the PSN store got a permanent price drop to $4.99.

Is it worth getting for someone who quite enjoyed the Dante's Inferno single player experience? Only DLC I got so far is the Forest stuff that came with the coupon inside the game...

From reading some reviews, all DLC for this game has been horrible. I didn't like the game, so don't take my word for it, but it seems to not be any better than the actual game.
