it's Oct 4th and my standard version of the game has yet to ship even though i paid for release day delivery. What is going on?

EDIT: oh great it got delayed, come the fuck on amazon. The one game I was really looking forward to play is now delayed.

Just a heads up to everyone, my brother picked his up at a midnight release today and I looked over everything... While I can appreciate the no charge for the upgrade to collectors..the Tin case is prolly the best thing it has going for it. The downloadable content was decent and a nice plus, but the artbook is a total joke And feels so thin And cheap it looks like something You would purchase from dollar tree. My brother is very careful with his things and within a few moments of flipping through the cheaply made and binded book the pages started coming out. Honestly NIS has done a way better service to the fans, than this, I ordered Ar Tonelico and it was free to get the upgrade and it did feel like a collectors bundle. Everything about this screams budget but I can appreciate they didn't ask for more than 59.99 and you still get an amazing game. Still very disappointed at it though. Just a heads up to you guys, all hail Dark Souls, mines gettin in by Ups and hope to see you guys on there!
To anyone confused about the bestbuy situation, the one I work at was very confused because, at our store, the sku's are the same. If any store tells you they have them, they may have 1 or 2 for people that pre-ordered, thats it. Also talked with 3 different amazon reps, even if you have a link to the regular edition, they are guaranteed to upgrade you, so all amazon orders should be a okay.
I'm pretty sure the Bb situation was a mistake, they changed the pics on the website... And as far as preordering I never saw that available, not even in-store at the kiosk. I actually tried to preorder and could not...so unless the stopped them early. I'm going to head over first thing anyway just out curiosity since I'm getting Rage too so we'll see.

everytime i got release date delivery and it wasnt fulfilled, i contacted amazon cs and they gave me a $5 promo. that being said, my dark souls ce left delaware yesterday and just arrived in oakland 20 min ago- so rdd is looking pretty good for me today.
Amazon needs to step up it's game and make more of an effort to pull through on "release date delivery"

I had a paid Amazon Prime subscription (can't ride the .edu train anymore) so I feel like I have a right to bitch and moan.

I think they should have a Release Date Delivery GUARANTEE; where if the game doesn't arrive on the UPS truck on release date that XYZ should happen;

most likely a future credit (even $5 would go a long way) towards your enxt gaming purchase
I just contacted Amazon chat rep. where the hell do they get these names from?

You are now connected to GAGANDEEP from Amazon.com.

Me:Yes I preordered Dark Souls Collectors Edition (360) back on June 5th with release day delivery (October 4th, today) and I just got an email saying shipment of game to me was delay. Today is the 4th, and no word on when I will get the game even though I reserved it 4 months ago with release day shipping.

GAGANDEEP:Hello,My name is Gagandeep.I'll be happy to help you.
I am sorry for this but this item is not released yet
Me:While others who reserved it AFTER me are indeed getting their copy today

GAGANDEEP:No has received it this item who pre ordered it
because we still haven't receive the stock of this item
and for this inconvenience I'll apply $5 promo credit to your amazon account.

Me:Can we clarify that I am indeed getting the free upgrade to collectors edition that amazon was advertizing all who preorder before sept 20th

Just came back from a local walmart, and they didn't even have the game in stock at all. Was going to try best buy later on for a second CE, but I'll just be the first one at my local gamestop to insure I get my CE pre-order
according to the Amazon rep GAGANDEEP, they never recieved stock of yet of the CE, only the standard
That's odd because I got shipping conformation yesterday (Pre-oreded the first day I heard about it in May) and the weight on the package is 1.40 lbs... so unless the managed to pack in a second game, the rep might've lied to you...

As for this whole thing, it crazy how much chains are dropping the ball on this and making this really have to get. It's ironic even.

Their respective country of origin.
Their respective country of origin.
How dare they. They should all have American names, after all, I'm talking to them from America.
How dare they. They should all have American names, after all, I'm talking to them from America.
Once heard the E-Mail was in Costa Rica or something like that and yeah it can be a pain.

Got the delayed message too. First time ever with Amazon Release date delivery. Now this pisses me off. I expected to play the game after I get off work today. They better compensate me as I paid for Amazon Prime.

Getting my CE copy later today from GameStop... hopefully those ass-fuckers didn't sell my copy to someone else/an employee since I didn't go to the midnight release.

My collector's edition is in the "shipping soon" status. When I ordered it the release date delivery wasn't an option and they never upgraded it automatically like they do with other games. I am a prime member. So I won't get it until tomorrow. I haven't been this pumped for a game in a long time.
This thread is like a trap for CAGs who refuse to make sense.
There is a lot of confusion in this thread. Such an example is me, who at first was going to wait and buy the game used so I wanted the price to drop, then the hype got to me and I ordered it at $60 so now I hope it holds it's value.

But we're thankful to have you T-Bone to keep us alert of anyone who flip-flops. It's very helpful.

You could avoid looking silly by simply saying, "I changed my mind" or "I was wrong about..." when you decide to flip-flop. If you don't, it just looks like you don't have integrity.

finally shipped and is on schedule for delivery by 3pm today. bad news is its .4 lbs so I'll see if I can yell at someone enough to get some credit or something. I'd suggest others do the same, its a good opportunity, I had no idea how easy it was to get free stuff out of companies just for complaining.

lol, most gamers are full of shit.
hmm was walmart gonna have some CE's in stock? Maybe i'll check em out this morning
The Collectors Edition was said to only be available as a pre-order. The reps in the Kmart thread have already said they are getting no collectors edition in stock, so I wouldn't go out expecting to find one on any stores shelf.
My amazon order still hasnt shipped for collectors edition preordered sept 24th w/ release date...
Yeah, mine, which was preordered on sept 26th, says the same thing. Time to go complain to amazon customer service.

my order got cancelled without any notice. i was wondering why i didnt get an email for the apology like everyone else. i thought im getting the collector's edition. i went to check my order on the newegg site and found out it got cancelled (VOID).

second walmart visited this morning. Some people have had luck with CE's however not the case, my local walmart had a whole 2 copies of the game period, 1 ps3 1 360 lol bot standard

Shame, i preordered this months ago but knowing I'm getting screwed by BB before they even open up.... lame
Why the heck would Walmart have any?

Am I missing something?
They were one of the retailers listed on preparetodie.com

Work is going to go by so slow today :hot:

I just expressed my frustration with an Amazon rep and after 20min she finally said she'll issued $15 promotional credit that I can use on my next purchase anything fulfiled by Amazon.

Really? Wow. They dont have to offer Release date delivery and you dont have to shop with them. Be patient - its a video game after all.

They offered me Release Date Delivery which I did chose while "Pre-Ordering" the game. And when did I say I would stop shopping with them? The matter here is they did not do what they advertise. I'm sure you like to pay for something and told you have to wait longer for it. I'm just informing people I was one of the few unlucky ones and I am frustrated about it. Amazon Prime isn't free for me, and Release Date Shipping isn't free for Non Prime member. Paying for nothing isn't a good feeling in case you did not know.

I'm in the same boat too - '"Order Placed: May 25, 2011". They havnt shipped mine either and I have prime and release date delivery. I guess someone in a post a page or two back said he got $10 credit. While that is nice and I might go for it - if an issue arises from a merchant not receiving product, its not entirely the merchants fault.
Really? Wow. They dont have to offer Release date delivery and you dont have to shop with them. Be patient - its a video game after all.
I agree he is a bit harsh with the "they BETTER compensate me" bit... but still, they shouldn't advertise something as such if they won't deliver (literally deliver in this case).

When you order something like that for release day delivery you do so at the expense of NOT ordering it other places or just going out and picking it up. And while it may be "just a video game" for many of us gaming is one of our top hobbies so we tend to plan out our gaming time whenever possible...especially those of us with families.

Are you telling me you wouldn't be disappointed at ALL if you were planning on playing it today and set aside some time tonight, then found out you wouldn't? Then realized if you just would have went to your local store and picked it up you'd have it.

Oh it's probably old news...but I didn't see it before so I'm sure I was missing it.

But BB is now offering a $10 gc with DS's purchase (or 2k12). I'll be using that to put towards Rage so I guess two transactions for me...edit looks like it says online only online, oh well...still worth a try.

I also sent in a store pickup for DS early this morning (oddly enough it already said it's ready for pickup too even though the store doesn't open until 10). I figure if they end up having the CE's I can just grab one and switch it out, but even not at least I'll get the game...especially since I have a feeling this one could be sort of hard to find in a day or two.

(Edit: from prime conditions)

We do not guarantee delivery of products within the estimated transit time or by the estimated delivery date.

One-Day and Two-Day shipping are terms we use to determine your estimated delivery date (these terms do not reflect product availability or our estimated shipping date);

You make it sound like $79 for a year of prime is worthless when it's a single bad egg out of many. At least I hope it's out of many otherwise you wouldn't be paying for Prime. Shit happens. Go harass CS for a credit.

Depends on when you "pre-ordered" the game. For all the people pre-ordering a week or month before it comes out and expecting the collectors are crazy. There was a limited amount they produced, and if you were smart pre-ordering from Amazon you would've already known it costs nothing to pre-order so waiting until the last minute makes no sense.

All of you wanting to take it out on the Amazon CS now and want to be compensated for your laziness is probably one reason why you don't see credit deals anymore.

Luan was pretty reasonable in his complaints, and I'm glad he got compensated. It's a drag when Release Date Shipping doesn't work out.

There was no indication this would be limited though. There are dozens upon dozens of "collectors editions" of games that get millions and millions produced and rot on the shelves/get discounted because too many were made. Furthermore, it was extremely unclear whether this was going to be an "all first run are CEs" deal or not.
I agree he is a bit harsh with the "they BETTER compensate me" bit...
Yes, because the last thing anyone expects is to get the service that they paid money for.

I'm tempted to never buy this game. I have had two screwed up pre-orders now, plus the CE getting castrated. I can only assume that NAMCO realized how hot the game was going to sell with or without the CE and got greedy. Maybe they can just go ahead and add Pepsi Points to the game that allow you to level up faster...

A week? Maybe. But a month? Come on now.
The one thing that stops this from being a complete shitstorm, and i'm sure they planned on it, is the *While Supplies Last

As for complaining, no luck on my end. I think if they failed their RDS and you got normal edition you'll have better luck, but just getting the regular edition doesn't seem too promising and far as free credit goes. Still, never hurts to try.

I just talked to one of my buddies in Best Buy inventory. He said they just got their copies of Dark Souls, but there wasn't a single collectors edition. I've had mine preordered for over a month. Also the website doesn't show the collectors edition anymore. I could be wrong, but their website only showed Collectors Editions before.
Yes, because the last thing anyone expects is to get the service that they paid money for.
I mostly defended the post...but that part sounded a little overly arrogant to me. I'm not sure though, are you talking about missing the release day delivery? Because that's what I assumed originally...

Right in their policies for release day delivery it says

"In the event of a missed delivery, we will refund the shipping charge. Note: this does not apply if delivery is attempted, but no one is available to accept the package."

So basically anything they refund you above the .99 is extra and they don't need to do...

This thread is over 100 pages long and was created back in May. I'm sure the rarity of the Demon's Souls CE was mentioned numerous times. Granted, a lot of CE's this year had more copies available well after they released, but this series had a previous title that had a rare CE. So I'm sure many people, including myself, didn't want to take that chance. Maybe when the third title in the series releases and a CE is announced people will look back at the previous two CE's being rare and order earlier...

Probably not.

I bet this whole LE stock thing was done on purpose by Namco to create more hype for the game. I'm sure a lot of people canceled after they botched the goodies into digital format. So they probably cut back on production after that, and decided to under produce so that way they get some "sold out" hype for pre-order LE copies.

Wow, Newegg fucking SUCKS. This is for my replacement pre-order with the $20 off code that I placed yesterday.

9:19:38 AM : Hello my name is Austin. How may I help you today?

9:22:31 AM : ME: I'm trying to find out if my order for Dark Souls is definitely going to ship today

9:22:35 AM : ME: It just came out today.

9:22:43 AM : Austin: I would be glad to assist you with that... Can you please give me one moment while I look into this for you?

9:22:53 AM : ME: ok

9:25:43 AM : Austin: Thank you for holding. Your pre-order has not been transferred.

9:26:24 AM : ME: What does that mean? It's showing up as out of stock now

9:28:03 AM : Austin: It means your pre-order cannot be processed.

9:28:19 AM : ME: What does that mean????

9:29:38 AM : Austin: It means the item in your pre-order cannot be shipped to you.

Mine shipped yesterday at 6:30PM, which was really early for an amazon release. And I preordered mine a long time ago, not sure when. As soon as it was announced, fwiw.

But my RAGE preorder didn't ship until 12:30AM. Either way, I already cleared $90 for my CE. The stuff looks nice, but not $32 clear profit nice.
