I have nothing against Kenshindono, but he does tend to get really angry over extremely petty things. If any of his 20 copies of a single game have even the slightest imperfection, he throws a fit. It must be nice to have that much extra money, but I'd really rather be able to just enjoy games for what they are. To me, a sealed game collection is just like a sealed action figure collection: it just looks like a serious lack of fun (at least games retain the value more often, though). But hey, that's his thing and that's fine...it's just too bad that collecting seems to make him so unhappy. Maybe it's all just an act?
All the hate I read in this thread over a collector's edition that was a free upgrade is ridiculous. I can understand being mad at them for screwing up the quantities delivered for retailers, but being mad over the actual package? It was a free upgrade. Did any of the people bitching pay more than $60, you know the same price as the regular old game by itself on day one?

The last free upgrade to special/collector's edition I can remember getting was Red Dead Redemption. You know what that free upgrade was? A cardboard slipcover and a code for some extra content. Uh yeah, thanks Namco for this metal tin and art book, even if they aren't the best quality.
Hey you know what else is free? If i walked over there and slapped you in the fucking face. Its free right? so you shouldn't complain. Or how about i sell you a game, then throw it in a pile of dogshit. Hey, all that shit slathered all over it is free, so just grin and enjoy it!

Every time people bring up that it was free i have to laugh. No one forced them to do a 'free' CE. They could have done a REAL CE with a steelbook, or something, hell, anything, to make them feel less cheap, then charged us for it. Seriously have you guys looked at these? I dont think ive seen one where the seals are on straight, and most have them partially unsealed which is absurd. Even how crappy they are isn't the only gripe. Like you said, its how they handled it and totally screwed up the shipments
I am pretty obsessive about a lot of stuff, but complaining about the sticker being off center seems over the top. I realize this will trigger a diatribe about how I'm not a real collector, but so be it.
You said it yourself. Your not a real collector. How the hell can you be fine with the friggin seal on a new game ... well, NOT being sealed?

You never said it wasn't sealed. You said the stickers were off center. And I'm glad I'm not a "real collector" like you. Do you ever post anything that isn't a tirade about how you're getting screwed and fuck this and fuck that? At some point you're going to realize that if this is the shit that bothers you, you have a pretty good life.

And I know what your response will be. "fuck you. Why do you care? I am going to complain about things that bother me." Well go back and read your response to blindinglights. It's immature rants like that that make your clutter tiresome.

Lol, your logic is so flawed here it's hilarious.

LOL :applause: :applause: :applause:

You compared a cheap metal tin and cheap art book to a slap in the face or a game covered in dog shit...

I don't even have to come up with an actual response to that because it's some of the dumbest shit that I've ever seen posted on this site.
+1 these are junk. I have 3 now. I gotta return one to the store i think.. maybe 2 i havent decided yet. But all 3 have the stickers off center its lame. The plastic cover is a bit disheveled on one too. These are the cheapest most half assed CE's ive seen in a while. fuck you Namco

now to decide if i keep 2 and return one or just return 2.
Wait........you're upset about having a clear sticker, one that you completely remove mind you, is off center?!?! I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or just that anal and OCD.

It's the latter judging by many of his other complaints. To be honest, I'm not sure if actually plays games.

It's "free" only in the vainest, naivest sense. It's a marketing ploy to push product sales. Would the people who are complaining now have bought such a shoddy edition, especially at such a high price (of $60)? I doubt it.

Value was sacrified on an assumption that was not fulfilled. Nothing is free.

So .... return it? Or complain online about how you were fucked over. One or the other.

I've had my copy pre-ordered since the day it was available on Amazon.

Every single person bitching in here is complaining about a free upgrade. Is the actual product underwhelming? Sure, but that's still not the point. So many people here feel cheated for having paid $60 for a horrible collector's edition that didn't cost them a dime extra to get. It's so pathetic. If Bamco had made this version cost $10 extra they'd have something to complain over, but that's not the case. The only people with a valid argument are the ones who were promised the CE and didn't get it due to merchant misinformation.

Not a single person bitching has mentioned how truly excellent the actual game is. It's a god damn shame that the only word of mouth for the game around these parts is endless complaining from entitled children who would rather have a shiny box instead of a quality gaming experience.

So is the verdict that Demon's Souls is still a better game than Dark Souls? As in ... if I happened to have a sealed copy of each, which one should I keep and which one should I sell?

Ummm. Why not play them and find out? What else did you buy them for if not to "unseal" and play them? :whistle2:s
Ummm. Why not play them and find out? What else did you buy them for if not to "unseal" and play them? :whistle2:s
Ummm .. I've actually played both of them ... although not entirely through either, and I'm asking for the community's feedback on which one is better, since I've heard that Dark Souls has been disappointing, received poor follow up support from Namco and that multiplayer is broken compared to Demon's Souls, which I bought at launch, sold and then picked up a sealed copy when it dropped to $20. But thank you for your helpful feedback Orange ;-p

If you've played both of them why are you asking for opinions? Keep the one you like better.

No idea what you mean by "follow up support", though. The game has been out for a little under three weeks and there's already a patch incoming to balance certain weapons and spells and make the multiplayer a lot more manageable.

Christ, CAG has really gone to pot when it comes to asking for opinions. I remember when we actually used to have a community that could simply discuss games. Like I said, I've played both of them but haven't really explored the multiplayer and have heard from friends that Demon's Souls is a bit better. Just asking for thoughts from people who have played and beaten both ... my apologies for derailing the thread, feel free to go back to screaming about how bad the CE is or how it's not because it's free. ;-)

I think the bosses and creativity are a lot better in Demon's Souls and actually is more challenging than Dark Souls.

I think Dark is a pretty game, and I like the whole idea of an open world that's connected and more items, but that's about it. I wish it hadn't dropped the idea of world tendencies, and the PvP is pretty broken, but honestly, this game is more about griefing others than actually fighting them.

I like them both, and honestly if you haven't played through Demon's Souls completely, you will really enjoy Dark Souls because you won't see the obvious copy pastes of some levels or bosses. You also won't see the lack of creativity in the bosses either. It does have a lot more variety in levels though, and it's pretty bad ass...and it has more secrets.

I guess all I'm saying is, they are both pretty similar, but if you haven't played either fully you won't be disappointed with a lack of creativity in Dark Souls. Go with what you like more, a structured world, or an open world.

Also, The PvP is broken is both games really since both have an infinite soul glitch. I will say though, Dark Souls does seem broken with even getting help from other users since it seems everyone cannot connect with everyone, so you get less opportunities to help/be helped.

EDIT: Also, I'm saying all this (difficulty wise) as a pure melee character through both games.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback, I may end up keeping Demon's and play with Dark a bit more from gamefly before I make a final call on it. Mox, the reason I'm choosing one is that I just don't have time with all the other games coming out (skyrim, SR3, etc) to play both and plus they're both demanding games to learn and play compared to most stuff on the market, so I'm choosing 1 for now. Specialist ... go swallow some magnets ;-p

Sold my regular edition to a friend for 35 bucks, got the 20 dollar Best Buy screw up giftcard, got the free CE, and sold that for 79 dollars. The two hours I played the regular copy was enough for me.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but from what I've played in both games, even though Dark Souls has somewhat better graphics, I enjoy the character and enemy designs in Demon's Souls more ... not sure if I'm alone on that but it's something that struck me.

So you pre-ordered in-store, and still ended up getting the free CE? HOW!!?? Or did you order online, complain and get a $20 credit, then get shipped a free CE?

Some of the regular knight designs in Dark Souls are better, but the Boss designs are better in Demon's Souls.

Also, a lot of the minions are just copy/paste from Demon's Souls in Dark Souls...along with a couple of the bosses sadly.

I do have to say, I'm glad maggots are gone. That was annoying as hell.

Pre-ordered at Bestbuy.com, received the regular shipped to my house, heard about the 20 dollar giftcard, called support, then received the email about my free replacement CE.
