OK, made lots of progress tonight. First I'll start with the elevator - found the ledge, rolled onto the opposing building, got the asylum key... But... when I go to the raven's nest and "curl up in a ball" nothing happens. How do you get him to take you back to the asylum?
You gotta stay curled up for like 20-30 secs io. After that, any other time you curl up, it will be near instant.
As for Capra Demon, I beat him the easy way - summoned someone....With the summon, I had a way easier battle with Capra since the other person took the attention of the dogs right at the beginning - I still almost got killed right away, though, but had time to recover without being mauled constantly.... I happened to be in human form because I was trying to kindle all the bonfires I had seen so far.
Grats on Capra slaying, and good idea on kindling bonfires. It will come in handy later on and NG+, NG++, etc.
Then I went to fight the butcher and some bastard invaded my game and pounced on me while I was in the middle of that fight. I totally hate that shit. Then, once I found the bonfire in the depths, I summoned someone there who showed me where that barrel dude was. Then he started leading me towards the boss I guess. But then we got invaded again and out of nowhere someone almost one-shot me with some lightning weapon. A second hit came before I even realized what was happening and I was dead. Again, VERY VERY annoying and I wish invading was not part of the game.
The only part I dislike about people invading my game is if they are way higher level than me, because then I feel like it is just futile to try. But I still try anyways ^^. An alternative io is playing offline, but that takes a lot of the fun away - reading warning messages, trying to determine which are fake, summoning strangers to help, etc.
But here's the thing, isn't there something to keep the levels equivalent? Clearly this guy was
way further along than me. I compared trophies afterwards and he has several more for getting further in the game.
Like Judou said - it has something to do with the Covenants, and I also think the sin/Indictment list. But I doubt you got any sort of sin/Indictment anyways since I'm pretty sure you haven't invaded anyone.
I am really confused by The Depths, though. I'm not entirely sure where the boss fight is. I think I've found 2 different white mist doors. Could that be the case or is it the same one I just got to from different paths?
The boss fight is very noticeable, you will get a real big view of the fighting area from above and go down some steps before it. Umm... Oh! There is a merchant before the boss fight, if that helps

Not directly next to the fog, but one area before the big view of arena, there will be a merchant.
Have to say I have finally run into an area in Dark Souls that is actually frustrating/upsetting me: New Londo Ruins. I can hit the ghosts no problem... its jsut that I can't defend against them at all. Apparently Magic Def. Shields don't help (which I'm not surprised since they aren't really using magic) but thats the only stat that I thought "might" have helped. Only other thing I can think of is Enchanting my shield via Magic Shield spell. Any advice my fellow Hollows?
Any advice?
