Dashboard Deal Free 800 MS Points when you renew LIVE YMMV

Just used a prepaid card earlier today. Didn't see this deal on my dashboard. Perhaps I should have refreshed to see if it came up. :( Oh well...

I have waited to renew the last few times my live was expiring in hopes of jumping in on this deal but it never pops up for me.

Dang it, does anyone know how long this dashboard deal will be around? I ordered a 12 month code from the eBay deal the other day but it wont be here until the 8th or so. I was going to renew gold with a 1 month code to get Limbo on Monday but the dashboard deal only works with 12 month codes. Do you think if I skip out on Limbo this week, the deal will be around for me to renew in about 5 days?
i used my 12month code and didn't get 800 points yet. am i supposed to wait or something, or you guys received it immediately?
Usually there's a turnaround time until you get points from a promotion.

Read the fine print. It stipulates that you can't use a prepaid code but have to actually pay full price thru the dashboard.

Bah, if that's the case then no thanks. M$ doesn't need my CC number, it's a nightmare and a half to get the number removed from my account. They should put the fact you can't use a prepaid card somewhere OTHER than the fine print, no one reads the fine print! Lol!
So $10 credit for $60 and Microsoft gets your credit card

lol no thanks.
Yeah, please avoid the risk involved with giving them your credit card info. Once you do it's very difficult to get that information removed from their database. There's currently a lot of Live accounts being stolen and charges rung up on customers' cards.

My Live is expiring soon (though I have a couple of cards laying around) and I was 'dashboard offered' 12 months for $39.99 or $20 off (still cant believe they actually *raised* the price of Live).

No it isn't. Just add your PayPal account and remove your credit card. Unless you don't trust PayPal either...

Why would you trust PayPal more than a credit card? If you have any type of decent card they should have relatively good fraud protections (not the least of these being virtual numbers). I've even had ones that limit the amount that may be charged to a virtual number. Or does MS somehow block this?
