Damnit. CAG does nothing but drain my bank account. I've only caught the episode of SG-1 here and there, but they have the complete box set for $114. I think I'm gonna have to go in on this.

There goes my tax refund..
 
(ignoring grammar) Yeah, but Amazon also has both seasons of Dead Like Me for $16 each in the Gold Box instead of $14.
 
Nice prices on some box sets, but with DD be prepared that you may receive a crumpled box. My Boston Legal S3 and Picket Fences S1 that I ordered a while back arrived in pretty bad condition, not to mention many others over the past few years.

Good choice. I have that set; some great movies in there.
 
Another highlight: The James Bond Ultimate set is 101.49, and includes remastered 2-disc sets of every Bond movie to date, including Casino Royale.

I can reccomend this at $49.95, but $20 is definitely a good price. This seems to hover in the $25-$35 range, so barring some crazy deal, $20 is probably the cheapest you will see for a while.

Note that this Rocky set does NOT include Rocky Balboa. This particular has been on sale as low at $14.99 (i picked up from Target just before Balboa came out). There is a new set with Balboa, but it's like $50.
That being said, it's still worth the $18. Just hit up your local Blockbuster and grab Balboa for like $5 PVD.
 
Stargate SG-1 The Complete Series for $115. Tempting but I hear some pretty bad things about scratches in this packaging. Decisions...
 
Anyone have the 007 set? I don't have any of the movies despite being a Bond fan. Seems like this would be the best time to get this.

I'm going to be watching them on an HDTV so I'm curious about the quality of these older movies.

I have the individual box sets (still looking for a place to buy the box cuz it looks cool) but I love them (keep in mind I'm 007 obsessed). They look great on my HDTV, but obviously the older ones look older, but overall they look great and the special features will keep you occupied for months!

I bit on the Rocky set. I don't own any of the films, so I figure it wasn't too bad.

i agree in shipping you typically get something banged up but there are ways to remedy this.

firefly should be owned by everyone that likes good tv shows. it is worth any price that it goes for so 20 is a good deal so pick it up.

i actually enjoyed it for the little time fox left it on consistently. i would pick it up but already own because of some cc or bb deal in which i also picked up boston legal on a whim and fell in love with it. i can also suggest this show for anyone who likes to laugh even if they know nothing about the law.

I would say wait just because it goes on sale for $20 a lot, and once and awhile $17, and you know what kind of condition the DVD will be in.

No, it's not usually the shipping that causes damage to the box sets. I've hardly ever had problems with Amazon and I always pick the free shipping. With DD, the majority of the damage does not happen while the package is being shipped, they put plenty of crumpled up brown paper in the box as padding to protect it from moving around or being smushed. Sometimes it's because of the way DD poorly packs their box sets, but by looking at it, you can tell the sets were in damaged condition before they were placed in the shipping box. Big-ass cuts through the side of the box set were definitely not made while it was being shipped, and I'd never be that dumb to stick my knife in that deep when opening my shipment.

If the condition really bothers me, I usually just buy another copy at a store and return the messed up one. Do you know another way to remedy this problem?
 
all of sealab for $44 bux as well as a few other adult swim titles on sale. my my, i yearn for a venture bros. drop. grabbed season 1 from amazon last year before xmas at a smooth $9.

Grabbed Dead Like Me S1 and S2 for $28. Stargate SG-1 is tempting, but thankfully they sold out of the complete series set, so I won't be tempted to spend more money.

You can even pick it up there today and get it price-adjusted once it's on sale (keep your receipt of course) All you need to bring back is your receipt.
 
The DD 50% off sale has been extended (was supposed to end on 2/8). There is no new end date given. A few of the prices have been raised by a few dollars, but most are still the same.

It was supposed to end this past Friday, but has been extended to an unknown date.
 
Well, the box set of SG-1 came in. Box was in nice shape, but people were right about the packaging scratching disks. There's light scratches on each disk I pull out, and I only can imagine it'll get worse if I keep using the packaging. I'm gonna have to get some quintuple DVD cases to keep these things in..

[Edit] Yikes - Some of the disks appear to be in really bad condition, after inspecting the whole set I've found 11 that would surprise me if they played. I don't want to return the whole set as I'm sure I'd get the same situation back.. I wonder if MGM has some sort of thing where you can get disks replaced. =\
 
thank OP, wish they had some blu-ray's... I can't bring myself to buy normal DVD's anymore, cause I know I'll just rebuy them on blu-ray..


however arrested development for under 50 bucks is a GREAT deal
 
Thanks OP! i bought on Firefly! never seen it, but at 24$, I figure its worth the shot.

Also, does anyone know if Stargate:Atlantis is as good as the original Stargate:SG-1 ?

I loved Stargate;SG-1 watched the whole first 3 seasons with my dad when they were on HBO, like it was a religion. Is Atlantis decent? or not worth my time?
