Best Buy Upgrade & Save - Now With 100% More Wikification!!

How does it work?
Trade in ANY DVD (except for porn, you weirdos) and get a $5 off coupon towards any Blu-Ray priced $9.99 or above.
Yes, ANY DVD - this includes things you bought at the Dollar Store, individual discs from compilations or TV shows, and ex-rentals from Blockbuster (RIP).
Cases and artwork aren't required, but it definitely increases the acceptance rate if you're bringing in disc four of Sanford & Son's third season.

Wait, that's it? There has to be more to it, right?
Well, not really. It's pretty simple.
Step 1. Trade in DVD's for $5 off coupons.
Step 2. ???
Step 3. Profit!

The usual FAQ/tips/etc.
Coupons are 1:1 - for each DVD traded, one coupon is given.
Coupons don't have to be used at time of trade in.
Coupons do not stack with each other. No combining U&S coupons for $40 off of the Star Wars box set.
Coupons MAY stack with price matches, manufacturer coupons, and current Best Buy promos. YMMV, ya know?
Discounts are taken from the selling price of the Blu-Ray $9.99 or higher. $9.99 becomes $4.99, $12.99 becomes $7.99, and so on. $4.99 Blu-Rays are still $4.99 though.
Coupons are B&M only - must be redeemed in-store.

Since this is a wiki post now, feel free to add in suggested titles (I prefer those $9.99 gems or sale items that become $4.99 after coupon, but to each their own) down below.

For a pretty comprehensive list, go here -> WV Matsui to the rescue! You should all give him a dollar.

So I decided to go look for Django Unchained and the Fast and Furious movies yesterday. I found Django, and the first 3 Fast movies. Decided to buy Taxi Driver also To get the 5 max. allowed. Went to another store to look for Fast 4. Found it and also decided to get Fast 5. Since the max. is 5 i also bought Shutter Island, Horrible Bosses and Date Night (the lenticular slip cover was a big selling point). I'm glad the max is 5 or I don't know how many movies i would end up walking out of there with! Also thanks to my Mom for all the DVD's she didn't want and gave me. I still have 7 left out of the 32 she game me. I'm trying to stay out of Best buy until after Saturday, Wish me luck!

Picked up Wizards 35th Anniversary Edition for 10 bucks after coupon. Happy to find the digibook of that on an endcap.

I thought about getting this, but I have never been a fan of Bakshi's animation technique's. But, I do love his design work and the art book that came out a couple years ago really shows his style, and I recommend buying it if you are a fan.

That reminds me of Oddworld. I had never heard of this movie before, it looks pretty cool.

Does the back to the future dvd trilogy count as three coupons or just one? Hoping that it would be three it is three dvds.

How Many cases? I brought in a 2 disc movie (was in 2 cases) and I got 2 coupons.

It seems to be Cases => Coupons with a 1:1 ratio, has anyone else had something different?

Brought in my digital copy disc for despicable me in a sleeve guy took it no issues.

Got Fringe S5 for 25 after taxes

Technically, in the past and I think the terms, each movie requires a UPC and original packaging. That being said, at least at my store, they don't even check if the DVD is in the case let alone the UPC - I hand them over and they give me a receipt w/coupons, so YMMV on this. Worst thing that could happen, you end up not trading it in. I would put each disc in it's own case though.

Yea, they do one coupon per case. Do NOT use digipak releases.

If you can find the Hellboy Director's Cut, that is 3 DVDs each in their own thinpak. I think some of the older TV series boxsets used thinpaks as well. $5 per thinpak case adds up.

Was kind of annoyed when I went to buy Jurassic Park 3D and the raised the price to $34.99. I was just barely willing to pay $25 for it. Also waited too long on Game of Thrones season 2, went from $44.99 to $54.99.
Did they raise the price for the fast and the furious movies? It's $14.99 on the website now.
They have a special in-store display with Fast movies for $9.99. They include digital copy and ultraviolet along with movie cash for Fast 6. The old blu-ray copies of Fast movies are still $14.99.

Wait, what is this? Man, I didn't know this thing existed! Would you happen to have the sku?

Anyone know if you can use a gift card code in store? Like if I don't have the actual card but I have the number and pin will they take the price off an order?

Oooo... OK, thanks for the clarification

Yes. And if a cashier says otherwise, they aren't trained enough. (basically like doing an online pickup and entering in gc#)

alright cool. yah I traded someone for a best buy gift card but just had him give me the giftcard number and pin. was going to order something online but if I can use the info in store I'd rather use it on U&S.

So I tried another Best Buy on Tuesday. A year ago this was the one that gave me a hard time because I had a coupon from another BB and did not do the trade-in with them directly. This time around was a lot better.

The security guy said to bring up the Blu Ray and DVD at once to customer service. There was more of a selection compared to the first store, but no WWE $9.99 section that others posted about. I found Superman vs. the Elite but they were wanting $24.99 for it so I passed and picked up Superman: Unbound instead for $10 AC.

Customer service person checked to see if DVD's were there and thanked me for shopping there. Two other employees followed up to see if I was happy with my purchase and said thank you. Never had that happen at a store before. Definitely makes up for that last visit I had last year.

Saw someone on YouTube beginning to play a clip of this 'weird', cheesy-looking zombie movie. Good thing I caught the director's name since the person didn't mention the movie name:roll:. Zombieland, lol. Got the bluray for $5 after coupon.

I have bought more this time than all of my other U&S purchases combined!

7 3D movies
1 regular blu
Getting 2 more 3D movies today!:)

If they have their own case for each one then yes you will get 3 coupons.

What 3Ds are you getting? I have two coupons left and don't think I'll end up using them. Seems most of their 3D prices went up from when the sale started. Spiders 3D is still tempting for $15.
coupon.com has $5 off coupon for Life of Pi (DVD, BD or 3D)

http://qpfabf.cpns.cc/
^This one and something else. I debated over Avatar. Saw it once in theater, AMAZING!, but(for some reason) I am Avatar'ed out! I'll buy it, eventually.

Was going to wait on Life of Pi, but the reviews are INSANE and I'll be using U&S, the coupon above, & $5 RZ to make it $14.99. This movie(185 minutes) is longer than Avatar(162 minutes)!

3D Safari: Africa is $7.99 after U&S if you can find it: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/3D-Safari%3A-Africa---Blu-ray-Disc/3233844.p?id=2228609&skuId=3233844

I wanted Despicable Me. "Store Pickup: Not Available"

Too bad I procrastinated on getting more $15($10 after coupon) stuff.

Omg ramble.

You should go over the list, again:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemp...203344&add_to_pkg=false&pagetype=listing&gf=y

The amount of YMMV on this thread is crazy. I went buy a Flagship store on Wednesday - literally less than a mile from Best Buy headquarters here in Minnesota. The guys didn't even open my DVD cases; just took 'em and gave me three coupons.

Overall, their stock was pretty good, but no "Inglorious Basterds", "Rez Dogs" or "Pulp Fiction".

I did pick up:
The Matrix - $5 after coupon
Classic War Movies - $15 after coupon (Patton, Tora Tora Tora, Longest Day, Sand Rats) - the sticker price on this one was $55
Les Miserables (the musical) - $15 after coupon
Hot Fuzz - $8 sale price (no coupon applicable)

The total was about $45 for seven movies . . . not too bad actually.

Last day guy let me trade in 8 DVDs

Jack Reacher - 15
Evil Dead 2 - 8
Great Escape - 5
In Time - 5
Great Escape - 5
Pulp Fiction - 5
Kill Bill 1 - 5
Step Brothers - 5
Leon the Professional - 5

53.12 and used a $50 cert so 3.12 out of pocket.

Avengers - $15
Flash Gordon - $7
Fern Gully 2pack - 7
Raging Bull/Rocky/Usual 3pack - $10

$5 blus I grabbed

Iron Man 2
Heat
Star Trek
Ghostbusters
FF7 Advent Children
Drive
American Psycho
Monty Python
Naked Gun
The Thing /w movie cash
Taxi Driver

Spent $153 after taxes, and used $100 in reward certs. Spent $21 on the 22 DVDs i traded in, so $174 for 23 blu-rays, average of $7.55 a blu. Til next time U&S!!! Hoping to use the Oblivion movie cash too!
Avatar 3D is my favorite 3D movie, but even before I had the 3D, Avatar is my most watched movie from the past 2-3 years.
I went ahead and got that.

I know you mentioned Spiders 3D. If you don't mind pre-owned, you can look for this to come back:http://www.gohastings.com/product/MOVIE/Spiders/sku/290924209.uts $5.99 + $0.96 ship + (possible tax)

Almost had Despicable Me 3D for $10 with their buy 4 deal. Sold out while in my cart!:bomb:

Didn't hear about the previous ones, so I got a lot of good stuff this time. Star Trek 1,2,3,4,6 and '09, all the solo Tarantino movies except Django, Alien(s), and too many more to count. Interestingly, about 90% of all the blu rays I picked up I already owned on DVD (and often traded the DVDs in for the same movies). Unfortunately, I screwed up big time on the LA Confidential / Body Heat / Player triple pack for $7.00 (after trade in), since they had a ton of them, and I figured they'd be there until next time. Wrong! I suppose a deal like that will never come around again, so I'll have to suffer with DVD versions of those films the rest of my life, and curse myself anew when I watch them. I also failed to get Star Trek Nemesis, which was in plentiful supply until I finally decided to buy it, and GONE!!!!!!!!!
If you return a blu ray you bought with the program, you do not get a new coupon, you just lose all the value. I lost 4 DVDs on this after mistakenly buying Eyes Wide Shut, Clockwork Orange, Terminator (TOTAL LOSER - AVOID AT ALL COSTS), and House of Flying Daggers, all of which suffer from lazy video transfers. Terminator is NO DIFFERENT from the DVD release and has FEWER SPECIAL FEATURES, including the lack of the original soundtrack (a new, terrible stereo soundtrack was optional on the DVDs, mandatory on this one.

I like Amazon's policy, where once you put something in your cart, it stays there for 15 minutes, and no one can "steal" it from you. Wish more sites would do that, but I guess they want to keep the good old brick and mortar tradition alive when people would steal things out of your physical cart (or in some cities rip it out of your hands by force) during quantity discounts or extremely limited supplies.
How often do they do these? This was the 1st one I participated in and I'm curious as to when I can expect it again.
They have had them here a few months in between. Seems to be quite frequent
