*DEAD* Circuit City mistake - 5 dollar games!! (YMMV)

Deal DEAD at Crossroads Mall in Bellevue/Redmond, WA :x

(Pimply faced manager says..."well they are on sale if you want to buy them @2 for $30..." pfftttt! )

I managed to score 6 games this morning at a Las Vegas Circuit City. First, I stopped in two get 2 games to see if the deal was good. Then I stopped in an hour later to pick up 4 more. I had no problems dealing with the cashier.

I would say that I opened them if I were you.
Damn good idea.

North Bergen, NJ is alive as of 3PM. I don't know how much longer since I saw a couple of guys grabbing at least 20 or 30 games. I just picked the last copy of PS2 NBA 2K5 and Midway Arcade Vol 2 for $10. Saw Manhunt at that store and the one in Union, NJ. If it is still a go later on, I'll grab Manhunt and something else, or maybe just another copy of Manhunt. If anyone still wants to trade for it PM me.

BTW to the OP: :applause:

Thanks dude. I will pick up a few more.

Kicking myself for not going during lunch.

I figured it would be dead this morning, then when it wasn't and so many reports were flooding in about how their CC folks were actually encouraging people to buy more games, I thought I'd just wait until after work. My subway stop is right there, so I might go in just to try it out, but  I should have taken a lunch today!

I did this last night.
Saw the post late, 8:40pm and got to my local CC at 8:50... browsed for 10 minutes and out by 9:02pm.

I asked a CSR if the 'unadvertised special' on these games was still going on, and he said that it was actually a pricing error... but not to worry because even the store manager bought a bunch.

The selection at the closest CC wasn't that great but I did pick up Midnight Club II and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit II for $5 a piece for the Xbox. They will entertain me a while, then likely be traded into gamestop for 3-4 bucks each

I can't believe that there were a couple pages on here of people disbelieving this deal. It was good while it lasted.
Just a note for those in Eugene Oregon, the CC here knows about the error and manually fixed the price when I went to ring up, so the deal is dead at the Springfield Mall location.
Glad I moved to Salem (OR) two months ago (cleaned out the Springfield store during the $5 sale last summer) Just got back from the Salem store with 16 games...newb behind the counter took forever to ring up the games, kept making mistakes, but I was very patient and helped her figure things out, didn't want her calling the manager..I got a little nervous when she rang a game in twice and couldn't figure out how to delete it, I told her I would just get a second copy :D

Yes, I also tried route 40 :(

Btw, sally I pm'd you.

CC in Deptford, NJ is good. I went to the register with 2 games and noticed the CC ad opened to the game page sitting there. I figured I wouldn't have any luck but the guy told me the price of $10.58 or something and I played dumb acting like I was surprised. He was really cool and he even held my games at the register while I got 2 more. I asked if it was a glitch and he said "I don't know, but its benefitting you." BTW, I got Super Mario Sunshine, Star Fox Adventures, SOCOM II, and MAT2. Thank you OP!!!!

Ha, you should thank me then. I was in the Springfield store the first instant the old $5.00 sale broke last summer and I only got one of each that I wanted, I left all kinds of goodness for everyone else like RE:CVX and Kung Fu Chaos and so on. When I was in there the first time, no one knew about the sale and I was amazing the cashiers with the prices and the shelves were stocked with almost every game from the list. I went back in a couple days later just for fun to see what was left and the shelves were empty.

Not sure about those locations, but your best bet would probably be the West Broad location (not too far from Sawmill). They have multiple registers back by the video games, and I've always had good luck there.

Still a go as of 3pm in Atlanta at the Buckhead location. There is an 'older' gentleman working at the only register that was open, and he was really cool. Didn't give me any shit, asked no questions, gave me 6 games for $30+tax.
They had a good selection still, too!!

Whoo-hoo!

ALERT!!! I scored a few games at the Mesquite TX CC today!! So as of 1:30 PM it is still good there!

I got SOCOM 2, Rise to Honor, Mario Golf, and Sly. I wanted more but didn't want to look suspecious and get nothing. Might try back later today or tomorrow if still good.

THe deal didn't work on Scaler, Sonic Collection, High Roller Casino, or ESPN COllege hoops 2k5.

Bleh went back and the manager told everyone to change the price... Deal is dead in SB Indiana. Still picked up Zelda & THUG for $30.00 just for the heck of it.

I'm tempted to go back and get more games after what I got yesterday, but I got what I wanted to play and the rest would just be purchases due to the price. I think I'm just going to leave what is there for everyone else.

The selection was OK not the greatest though but still decent. I was going to the PLano CC but didn't want to drive.
Interesting how the ones you did score are PH/GH/PC games, and the ones that didn't work aren't PH/GH/PC games.

SOme people said it would work on $20 games like Psiops and second sight so I though I would give these a try.

Just got 20 more at lunch at the Almaden Ex store, right off 85 in San Jose, CA!!! That makes 30 different titles total for me! The kids got PS2 last Xmas and only have about 8 games so far. Now they have a TON and I have some also! :)
There were a couple other people BUYING TONS like I was, but no huge crowd.
The checkout guy was laughing the whole time, saying 'someone at corporate is gonna be in trouble for this mess up' and 'I HAVE to get me some of these when my breaktime comes' He told me they only get a 10% discount, so he never usually buys games from his own store. If they treated their employees better, instead of MAKING $$$ off them too, they might care a little more about losses from deals like this. His attitude was 'sock-it-to-em!' Stupid corporation! HEHEHE
When I first got there, managers were right there in the dept, filling in the new shift. I listened in and all they talked about was how to answer phone calls for the new PS2 units that they are out of stock on. Then the managers all went away and I swooped in.

I thought about it, but it didn't seem like a good idea.
What time did you go? I was there about noon. I get the feeling pimple boy told the whole crew.( I wonder how many he scored-lol)

ANYBODY here try the "EVERETT MALL" store here in WA yet?!?!

How did you score so many? My CC had a 4 game limit per customer, although the lady at the register let me have 6.

Oxnard, California is a go - my wife picked up 20 games from the master list, and all rang up for $5. She's on to check Thousands Oaks next...will report back later today.

Woodland Hills, California - the deal is off. The manager saw one guy take a huge stack up, and he instructed all cashiers not to use the package 2 key anymore that day (until the database was updated). I luckily squeaked in before this happened, though, and got a few games before the change was made.

Woo-hoo!

damn u guys are lucky, i went to 2 CCs today and both said no it says 2 for 30 in the ad. it sucks cuz it rang up for 5$ each and they didnt honor it. couldve been a good christmas:(

guy even said some ppl got it for 5$ each but they shouldnt have and they got an email this morning to change the price or some ish

What a cruel, cruel world. I can't benefit from this deal *yet* because I have to be at work earning the money that is required to get in on deals just like this. Oh, the irony!

That being said, daddy needs a copy of Prince of Persia and Soul Calibur 2. After work I'm gonna let those dice roll!

anyone try the CC in Corpus Christi?

I'm planning on heading over there in a bit. I hope its not cleaned out yet. LOL

I remember the CC 4.99 right after I got my second stash these two FATWALLET people took everything. Bums lol

Anyways Im heading out there in about an hour.
Do individual games ring-up at $4.99 each? Or only two games at a time ring-up $4.99, at the register?...
You must buy them 2 at a time.

TO may or may not be over, that was the store I posted about last night. At least one cashier working there has been told not to charge 2 for $10, but another guy let it through, I got 4 games for $20. So do post when you find out if its still alive there.

Just got shot down at the Culver City, CA CC. I kind of knew when the cashier was hitting so many buttons and swiped a card. I didn't know what to say so I just said "oh I thought they were cheaper, thanks anyways," and walked out.

Looked like somebody else had been shot down too, because I saw a stack of games that were part of the deal dumped back on a shelf before I went to the counter.

Second CC deal I have missed out on, damn work and Europe trip.

My CC said no-go. The games are still ringing up for 2/$10, but an email went out from corporate this morning telling all the stores that it's a mistake. They actually showed me the message and it said that their "publisher" messed up, that they can't update the system until tonight, and in the meantime, they are supposed to do manual overrides to force it to the 2/$30 price.

The also told me that several employees got in on the deal yesterday when they saw what was happening, which was why their selection was so lame. But the manager said the employees are going to have to return anything they bought or pay the full price. That may be just enough incentive for those employees to go work at Best Buy.

At 12-noon PST, 12/13/04: They're on to us at the Crossroads Mall in Bellevue WA. I overheard the manager who was walking around asking all employees if they got the email about the price error. The database was also updated to reflect different pricing.
