Well, it was a wild couple of days, but all good things must come to an end. It's official. The deal is dead tomorrow am. They have seen the error of their ways (Thank you, CC Corp price guy!) and it was scheduled to be fixed in their system tonight after closing. But, after reading all the posts on this and other forums, it would seem that a good amount of people got in under the wire.

My greatest joy in all this is the thought of all the little ones out there on X-mas morning opening all the games that mom and dads didn't think they could afford, but then this happened.

To quote CC, this was "Just what I needed!!"

Merry X-mas again!
Smoke- We both live in San Francicso y is it when I went to the CC in down town I was turned down they had no idea wat I was talking about, you have any idas grrrr
I work at the one in Daly City...the down town one is a little more bitchier than ours since they deal with the news at times.

I was able to slip into my local CC (Kennewick, WA) just before closing, and I was able to get 4 games for $4.99 each. I wish I could have bought more, but alas, I am a poor college student with a lot of Christmas presents to buy for others.

Anyhoo, here's my list:
01. Ratchet & Clank
02. Ratchet & Clank 2: (Going Commando, I think?)
03. Sly Cooper & the T.R.
04. Xenosaga Ep. 1

The feller behind the counter rang me up and announced my $20+ total without batting an eyelash. So I'm guessing that he wasn't informed. :D

Bone thugs fans, thought I was one of the few left, no one ever talks about them. I managed to get all 14 games I wanted, plus one for a friend (and extra copy of nba 2k5) and some to sell to get my money back. Though the only thing I couldn't find was nhl2k5. Tried 3 stores and couldn't find it. Though strangly, none of the employees I dealt with seemed to have heard about the sale, except burlington ma. They were clueless around 1 p.m., but had stopped it when I went back at 7. You should have seen the guy in front of me the first time, he bought 6 GH games after seeing the 2 for $30 sign (he mentioned the sign and the 2 for 30 price to the cashier when he brought them up), his eyes bugged out when the guy said the total was $31.

Its shoud be fixed up tonight (right now..i thought..)
cuz when i checked out ( 9.23PM LA CA ) the manager said " NO MORE!!!" so.. i'm the last lucky guy..waitting for check out 3 more persons.. anyways i bought 12 kill.zone demo!! each 1c..
does anyone wanna buy kill.zone demo disk just PM me.. i just wanna shipping charge + 1$!!
It is pretty pointless to fix the problem....most CC are cleaned out of $20 games anyway.
:( You should buy for games you want to play, not trade-ins for other stores. Shifting inventory for profit is wrong. Not you specifically, but clearing out stores makes me feel bad.

Stopped by my local CC today looking for VF4 Evo and SSBM but they were both sold out. Didnt feel like going there as a wasted trip so I got Green Day's Amercian Idiot cd for my bro for Christmas.

I went to CC I found A lot of games of PS2 xbox GC. They would not sell it to me for $5.00. They say they barely changed. That makes me so angry   . Here is a tip also the games were priced at $19.99 each . So if I bought two games together it would cost$ 30.00 for both. Isn't it a giltch trick to do that to people. So I hate them again for 2nd time agian this year. This I thought I getting closer to buy those games for 5.00

I HATE CIRCUIT CITY I LIKE TARTGET, FRY"S

Yeah sounds like Circuit City just lost themselves an awesome customer

I doubt every CC tomorrow won't be doing the deal, but I'm done looking, I got six games I wanted and that's enough for me.

I think this thread will slow down soon as well, let's just see what happens.

Had fun with my friend trying to make our way in the heavy snow, slipping and sliding. The deal was still valid at the CC near Chapel Hill Mall in Ohio till at least 6 when we left there. They only rang up PS2 games though so my friend got nothing out of it and we didn't want to prod as that might have made them check things out more. Apparently we have the most lax manager in the world as they actually came down and changed the price to 4.99 for Baldurs Gate because it was ringing up as 9.99 instead of 19.99 throwing off its pairing with FFX-2. Since my CC got cleaned out during the July sale as soon as they opened that Sunday I'm glad I finally caught one. Thanks!

Managed to grab:
-Final Fantasy X-2
-WWE Here Comes The Pain
-Baldurs Gate
-Tony Hawk Underground
-Castlevania: LoI
and the only GH labeled one of the bunch: Kingdom Hearts
Baldurs Gate is addictive. I had no idea what my friend and I were getting into.

Ok so weird experience last night at the Tallahassee, FL CC. I picked up two Xbox PH games, and brought them up to the register. Ghost Recon was priced at 19.99 and Morrowind was priced at 14.96. At first, Ghost Recon was ringing up at 4.99 but Morrowind wouldn't scan in. So i got sent up to the front desk, where it was the total opposite. Morrowind was ringing up at 14.96 (regular price) but Ghost Recon wouldn't scan. So after 20 minutes of me waiting around for someone to figure out how to do this, or for a manager to show up, I finally left disgusted and frustrated.

I can understand management not wanting to give me $5 games because of a glitch, but i can't stand it when they just plain won't help me, especially when i wasn't pressing for a $5 game, i just wanted to see how low they would ring up. meh... oh well.

The glitch only worked for 19.99 games. And it only prompts the "glitch" if you scan in a 19.99 game first. So they weren't screwing you over.. you just didn't understand the deal.

I also tried to buy morrow wind, but they had marked it down to 9.95, so I couldn't get it as a 4.99 game.

It still bothers me that I tried twice and didn't get anything, especially since one other person says they got some from the very store I was in.

That's why you go in to these YMMV deals expecting nothing and be thankful if it comes through. If it doesn't come through, your expections were nothing, so no big let down.

Are you sure they put in the promotional code? Otherwise they'll just ring up as the original $19.99 price.

Yeah, but it's hard not to have some expectation of getting rewarded. I guess part of the fun of this is kinda like gambling... the more I think of it, I do not remember them putting in the promotional code. I guess I was hoping they'd error without me saying anything. oh well... my loss.

The real test will be when the first people, probably East Coast people, will go to CC and see if the deal is truly dead or not.

From what I've seen from last night, if it still works, I'll be really shocked.
It is pretty pointless to fix the problem....most CC are cleaned out of $20 games anyway.
Yea, they should just leave it like this forever.....idiot.

I wouldn't object to that. :D

Someone wrote earlier in here that the Valley Forge one was dead, well I got them to do it last night, I had them match the receipt from the conshy store...It's on with a match from a receipt, you tell em' that the manager at the other store said that the deal was on, call ahead of time to get the okay, then go and checkout with the person you talked to...But you've gotta limit the amount you can get, you'll be lucky to get more than 6

You're an idiot. The actual sale was for 2 PC/PH/GH titles for $30, which would be $10 less than the normal price (since a PC/PH/GH title is normally $20 a piece). So you hate them for what, for following their advertised prices?
Today around 5:00 PM I was at CC looking. Some time later the nice lady (that was there last year around the holidays when games were $15.00) came around the corner and asked me if I'd found any deals. I asked her if the store was doing the $5 deal, which was really a glitch? She said how'd I know about that!?

I said the internet & cheapassgamer, much like I did last year. :) She said someone had came in earlier and did it.

Funny thing is, I was telling this other customer (who was a lady) about how she should price check the games.

The hottie that'd checked me out earlier said I couldn't do that no more. Why you ask? Because the woman that was behind me at the checkout counter earlier in the day had a hissy fit because hers rang up more than mine did. I'd have paid money to see that! :)

See, that's what you get for trying to be nice and help someone get a decent deal. Now I wish I'd kept my mouth shut and not went out so soon after buying the games.
The first rule of CAG is do not talk about CAG.
I hope you learned your lesson. :ziplip:

Also, the other poster above you who talked sass back to the cashier and mentioned CAG. I have a quick message for you:

Do not talk about CAG [-X

Now, onto my little story: After hearing about how an e-mail went out yesterday to the staff, I gave up hope on getting on on some CA deals, but since my subway stops right in front of CC in Rego Park, I thought I'd give it a go, especially since I needed a gift for my kids.

Went in, picked up a couple of games: Kirby's Air Ride, Rainbow Six 3, Crimson Skies and SoulCaliburII for the cube and then went to find the kiddies a nice DVD. Then comes the tricky part - finding the right cashier. Luckily right in the DVD section was a clearly overworked slightly dumb looking cashier. On top of that, there was a line, so that a)she would feel bad for making me wait longer if it didn't ring up "right" and b)if she said that she needed a manager, I could just play it cool by saying I didn't have any more time to wait after my wait in line (actually, this was true!). Then comes the setup chit-chat so she would feel more comfortable with me, sympathizing that she was the only cashier in such a busy section.

All that hard work paid off, and I walked out with my 4 games and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for $30.

My only regret is that I didn't have more time to grab a few more games after it worked for me.

A big thanks to the OP.

I still hold that this deal was more YLMV (your luck may vary) than YMMV. It wasn't store policy necessarily but really just drawing the "right" clerk.

I got in barely on Sun. night I had to "persuade" the clerk to leave it at $5 (got 8 games in two trips which was pushing it) and shot down (just trying to get 2 more) the next afternoon by another clerk who had would not allow the discount. Yet someone got some at $5 later that day at my store! Strange . .

YMMV means that the deal may or may not work for you due to any number of factors. I don't see how YLMV would mean anything different.

I almost hope the deal is truly over with no chance of getting games at $5 just so I don't have any more temptation to go back. Also, I won't feel compelled to constantly check this thread. I don't want to know how much time I've spent keeping up on every page.

Exactly right, gotta play the game right, you can't expect to just plunk down a ton of games and get away with it, it takes some finagling
What does YMMV stand for?
It stands for your mileage may vary. If you place your mouse over YMMV, it will pop up a definition for you. Usually, anything that is an acronym and is underlined will cause the same thing to happen.
