Update:
The sale appears to be over. It's now early morning on the 15th and the graphic about the sale has been removed from minecraft.net.

Notch is getting married tomorrow, and to celebrate he's having a Buy 1 Get 1 sale. If you buy Minecraft this weekend you will get a bonus gift code to give/trade/sell. Expires "August 14th Sweden time (CEST) when the transaction is processed." (their words)

The game is still in beta. It costs $21.95 right now and will go up in price when released later this year.

If you bought the Humble Indie Bundle #3 or know someone who did and isn't using their Minecraft code, remember that you can try the full game out during this sale to see if you're interested in buying it.

WARNING
The people at Mojang have stated that minecraft.net is the only authorized place to buy the game. If you see the game for sale elsewhere for cheap the codes were likely purchased with stolen credit cards or paypal accounts. Accounts made premium with codes bought from these sources are at risk for being deactivated. It has happened to other people.

So if two people were to split the cost, they'd effectively get the game for about $11 each. I might have to think about picking it up at that price.

Thanks for the heads up.

For people who are thinking about selling the code it only fetches 9 bucks on ebay.

You are better off splitting it with someone, or buying a code off of ebay.

Good deal

Thanks for the heads up.

Is this working already?

I will buy one PM me if you want to go half. I will buy and you can paypal me for the other.
Can I activate the game on Steam?
No. It's not available on Steam.

Who knows if it'll ever be available on Steam or any other digital distribution service. It seems to be selling pretty well all by itself.

in b4 his gf is hot
fuck please no

i am going to google her now

I always wanted to buy the game but I don't have paypal (the only payment method minecraft.net accepts). Anyone know a way around this?

Hell, I'd be willing to pay someone $15 in cash on Oahu, Hawaii so he/she could make a profit of $5 during the new promotion.

Hell, if someone on Oahu (Hawaii) is going through w/ the new promotion I'd be willing to pay $15 cash in person.

I don't know if I can even get myself to pay $9 for this "game", but it's worth considering, I suppose. But if the XBLA version is any good, then I can just get it for free.

Anybody want to consider splitting this with me in case my roommate doesn't want to? I'm trying to convince him but i dunno....trustworthy CAGs only plz, I do have paypal as well :)

I'm warying of buying minecraft codes on Ebay, even from a seller with 100% feedback. This guy is selling multiple minecraft codes at essentially a lost even with the buy 1 get 2 discount.

Minecraft cost €14.95 = $21.69 or about $10-$11 each with this buy 1 get 2 special. Notch on his blog has flat out stated that there are no wholesellers who get discounts from bulk purchases of Minecraft and if you buy Minecraft from a 3rd party like Ebay, he won't help you if there is a ever a problem with your account.

So what's this guy's incentive to sell Minecraft game codes at a loss ($9 each)? If you look at the guy terms on the bottom of his ebay page, he states that if there is a problem with the code, you would have to provide proof using Teamviewer 6 (A remote desktop software).

Also, there is a history of Minecraft scams on ebay (just check minecraft forums). For example, any Ebay listing trying to sell a Minecraft premium account (not gift code but the account itself) is a scam because you can't change your email on Minecraft so the scammer could just get the account back.

So a much as I'm a cheap ass gamer, my brain is telling me that this ebay deal is not right.

Minecraft is not a game for Lumberjacks and Coal Miners.

Is this deal started right now? If so I would like to go half with someone. I can buy and then msg you the code once I get the other half of the money via paypal. PM me if you are in.

pretty much pointless but worth a try. Ill trade someone a code for Dirt 3 Steam for an extra code for minecraft. PM me
I already have a copy, but thinking about picking another up for a friend. Anyone willing to go half?
I'll go half via paypal.

Does anyone happen to have an unused Minecraft Gift Code that was purchased before December 20th, 2010?
Looking to get Alpha status.

As his feedback is 100%, and all of it is from minecraft codes, I'd say it's safe (at least as safe as any other ebay auction.) Unless of course they're somehow stolen and can be revoked or something like that.

Thanks for the heads up OP, I Might have to get it at this price, though I still have no effing clue what it is you're supposed to do in this game. I just like walking around killing sheep. :p

kill pigs too... I think that's how you play. I cut a hole in a mountain and hide when it's dark then go punch pigs in the face

Now is a good time to get in. The adventure update(which adds some structure and goals to the game) should be out within the next couple of months.

On Reddit, I found a post about these eBay Minecraft gift code sales, and one individual in particular said he wrote an article that explains that these sellers are likely using stolen credit cards / hacked paypal accounts to buy the gift codes. So the keys are "legit," and they can offer these price points because they're not paying for the accounts. But as they get reported for fraud, the premium accounts that were purchased through these methods will get deactivated, since Notch / Mojang do not support people who buy accounts from unauthorized resellers (there are no authorized resellers).

I'm wary of those resellers because their eBay accounts are relatively new, and the feedback - although 100% positive - only goes back a couple of weeks. Not enough time for a buyer to get burned and come back to complain.

Thanks for that. On my list of things to do today was try and track down where these sales were coming from because I was curious and I thought it might help out some people in this thread. I guess I'll have to go to the beach instead. :)

Yeah, be wary of those EBay sellers...I almost bought one from a seller yesterday for my friend, but held off even though he had about 80 feedback from selling codes....Today his account is gone. Dum dum dummmmmmmmmmmm.

I ended up going in on this with a friend of mine from college.

Very cool game, but I'm kind of surprised that even on the lowest setting, it's still pretty choppy on my laptop.
