[DEAD] Official Toys R US Buy 2 Get 1 Free - Free shipping added to more games

Phew....$500 on Video Games at once....sounds kinda crazy. Oh well...enjoy

I passed on this sale...nothing was good enough for me to get this time
Well I tried to get BB to PM this today. Called the store up talked to a guy, he said it'd be no problem if I brought the ad in. When I get there, he shows the ad to his manager, who says it's a no go. I was like I just called and I live 20 minutes away. He didn't care. It doesn't really bother me that I didn't get the games. What bothers me is he said he would PM it and I drove all the way down there. Goddamn it. :x
Time to try CC for the PM possibilites?

I wonder if since SH 4 was only $39.99 will they give me any game (even $49.99 one) since the other 2 I bought were $49.99?
Yes, they will give you a $49.99 game if you want.
I did this same thing, picked up a $29.99 game and had them swap it out for a $39.99. They ended up price matching the $39.99 game down to $29.99 for the exchange, which was a bit odd, but they said it was the easiest way to do it.
My stash from this sale so far, not one from a TRU! I took the ad to Best Buy and they matched it and didn't bother to check that all of the TRUs locally were out of everything (4 different Best Buys, I didn't want to push my luck):

Dead or Alive Ultimate
Bards Tale
Samurai Warriors
SRS
ShellShock
Tigerwoods 2005
Otogi2
Men of Valor
Conflict Vietnam
BloodRayne 2
Vietcong Purple Haze
Def Jam Fight for NY
SVC Chaos
Mortal Kombat Kollector's Edition
Burnout 3

I'm going to hit a couple of stores today to look for a couple of $20 games I've been wanting. I figured I saved $180 with this sale rather than buying everything at cost where I work.
Was your Bard's Tale for the XBox or the PS2? The TRU's around here only have the PS2 version of it, and they're not sure when they're getting the XBox version in.

As I have $60 in gift vouchers at EB, I may just end up using those on Bard's Tale and Fatal Frame II instead of the "buy a game at the same price and swap it for another game of the same price later" mantra. Which, according to one guy I talked to, is completely OK and something they've been telling customers to do if they can't find what they want because it's OOS or not out yet.

Guess TRU wants some business bad to tell customers to do that.
I love how half the games I ordered online on Sunday now have free shipping. The pain, the pain.
I sent a email to Amazon about it, told them that what 2 of the three games I bought on Saturday at $29.99 now had free shipping, and I wanted to ask for that part of the shipping back. They sent me an email that said they were giving me the whole shipping back. $6.37 instead of $4.31, but hey, they're the ones who are giving me the money back.

Send them an email through their form, and tell them what you bought, tell them which ones specifically (sending them a URL showing the game with free shipping) have free shipping on them, figure out what the shipping charges would be on those titles, and ask for that amount back.

It only takes the time of the email and you might get something back.

My haul from yesterday:

Tekken Tag Tournament
Dark Cloud
VF: Evo
(they need to re-ring this, since VF:EVO is a green tag game and it ended up being my free game; if they did it so VF:EFO was game #1 or game #2, Tekken would be the free one)

La Pucelle Tactics
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Bujingai: The Forsaken City

Dark Cloud 2
KOF 2000/2001 (green tag)
Twisted Metal Black Online
(and I think they need to re-ring this one too, for the reason above)

anyone manage to find DOA in nyc yet? I'm on hold with one of the stores right now and good gods their "on hold" muzak is horrible
edit: told me to check again after noon.

why cant u ppl wait for black friday at TRU. its gonna be a big sale for video games. i think the DS deal will be at black friday.
why cant u ppl wait for black friday at TRU. its gonna be a big sale for video games. i think the DS deal will be at black friday.
Unless you know something we don't, based on my experience, the B2G1F sale is a far better promotion than anything TRU has offered on Black Friday.

If you have details concerning TRU's BF sale, share it with your fellow CAGers, otherwise, just let us be.
why cant u ppl wait for black friday at TRU. its gonna be a big sale for video games. i think the DS deal will be at black friday.
Let's wait and see what happens? Anything you pick up on B2G1 can always go back in 45 days, if you haven't opened it. Buyer's remorse is a funny thing.
Has anyone tried returning games through this. I ask because I bought Splinter Cell PT for 30, Soul Calibur 2 for 20, and got Crimson Skies for free. I think I only want Crimson Skies so if I take Soul Calibur and SCPT back how much will I get back?
I had to do this yesterday and they required me to go get a replacement for the returned game, the value of the returned game or more and did it as an exchange. If I just wanted to return it, they would have to do a complete return and ring the two remaining games by themselves.

I saw what people have been talking about, one of the TRU's around here had three of them in the glass case.

Think of Donkey Konga, but for the PS2.
Anybody else disturbed at how many young kids at TRU are fawning over GTA:SA? I hope TRU employees discourage the parents. The one on 14th street said they had it in. I have to wait until I get out at 7:45 from work to check. The one on 42nd street does not have it yet. They said to check at 4pm. I'm going to swing around at 5pm to check.

Guys a Quick FYI I went to my local Toys R us and the selection was pretty thin.. So I went to local Circuit City and printed out the CHEAPASSGAMER front page on the sale and told them to call toys-r-us they said naw ok go get what you want we will match the sale. needless to say there selection was MUCH better and I got a shitload of PS2 stuff for the same Deal prices. PLUS A few were cheaper there...

Yeah, and they tend to have you tossed out and give you a Person Non Grata letter for things like that, not to mention arrested for disturbing the peace and other issues like that.

There's a difference between getting ticked off over something, and making a nuisance of yourself.

I picked up

Men of Valor
Tiger Woods 2005 (xbox)
Tales of Symponia

I wanted Xmen Legends but they were sold out on every system :(
I just got back from the Ceasar's Bay Toys R Us here in Brooklyn and they still seemed to have plenty of stock of everything, though I didn't look too closely. There weren't many people fighting for the games either which surprised me, Just me and a soccer mom.

I picked up Donkey Konga, Shin Megami Tensei (plenty of copies) and X-men legends for Xbox because they didn't have the Gamecube version of it. Does anyone know what the xbox version has going for it over the GC version? I kind of rather have the GC version since I have 4 controllers for GC and only 3 for xbox.
It's nice to see someone else from Brooklyn. I have one more day to take advantage of this sale, but I'm not going if they don't have anything in stock. Do you remember seeing if they have Gradius V or Street Fighter Anniversary Collection in stock? Those are the main games I want, so I was wondering if they have them. Thanks in advance.

Hey funksoulbrother-- I'm from brooklyn too and I just went to the Bay Parkway TRU today. They have both Gradius and Street fighter as of 2PM. Hope this helps!

Ah, sorry dude, if you had posted this a little earlier I would have seen it and specifically checked out the ps2 section when I went by to pickup dead or alive today. I'm pretty sure I saw SF anniversary collection when I was there on Sunday but you can call them to check out what they have at (718)372-4646. Hold time is a little long for initial pickup and then longer to get transferred to the games section but its less time than going there.

Wow, thanks a lot for the quick response, I really appreciate it. I know that both of them are $30, but I don't know what to buy for the third game. Maybe I'll just get a $20 game because I can't think of a third $30 game to get.

Their reply to my email is at the top, my email is at the bottom:
Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding regarding our free Super Saver
Shipping.

To make up for this misunderstanding, as a one-time exception I have
requested a refund of $6.47 to your credit card to reimburse you
for the shipping fees you paid for this order. This refund should be
processed within the next 2-3 business days, and we will send you an
e-mail to confirm when it has been completed.

The shipping speed originally selected for this order was Standard.
Our system will not automatically apply the Super Saver Shipping
option to qualifying orders, in case customers prefer to pay for
shipping because they do not want to wait an additional 3 to 5
business days for their order to ship.

In order to take advantage of this option, you must select
"Free Super Saver Shipping" as your shipping speed when filling out
the online order form.

I apologize if these requirements were unclear on our web site.

Further, for future reference please note that if you select
"Free Super Saver Shipping," then click on another shipping method to
see what the price would be, you must again click on the Super Saver
Shipping option and wait for the page to update before placing your
order. Hitting the "Back" button will *not* change the shipping
method back.

I hope this solution is satisfactory. For future reference, you will
find the full details of free Super Saver Shipping here:

COMMENTS: On the above listed order, three items were shipped, two items on one shipment and one item under a different shipment. Two of the items, R-Type Final (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...1/104-3539897-9591103?m=A3UN6WX5RRO2AG&s=toys) and Gradius V (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...01735/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/104-3539897-9591103), now have free shipping on them, and when I placed the order, they did not. R-Type Final was shipped by itself, with a shipping charge of $2.15. Gradius V was shipped with Front Mission 4, and had a combined shipping charge of $4.32. Therefore, half of the shipping charge on the Gradius V/Front Mission 4 order should be refunded, which would be $2.16. The
total credit back to my credit card would be $4.31. Please process this credit as soon as possible, and if there are any issues with this, please contact me as soon as possible.

Would you be buying these M rated games at TRU if it wasn't for the sale? Maybe, but I doubt it. You would be able to get them anywhere else. I don't think most kids should have to be 18 to play M rated games. I've been playing them since I was 11 or 12, and I'm fine. It's up to the parents to find out information about the games their kids buy, not the TRU employees.

Yeah, I'm not complaining, it's $2 more than I expected to get. :) (I can't stand the FW people that contact customer service over and over again to get a customer rep to give them whatever they want.)

The first letter from a customer service rep said something about the games I bought not being part of the selected toys for the current free shipping promotion on toys. The second rep gave me a much better explanation, saying I didn't order the games during qualified shipping period, but said that he'd give me a one time exception discount of $2.

You saw the response I posted. "misunderstanding regarding Super Saver shipping"? There wasn't any mistake, I went with the cheapest shipping they provided and now it's even cheaper.

I probably wouldn't have bought the games from the TRU.com website if it wasn't for the B2G1 coupon and I was worried about not finding those three games on the shelf.

Yay, they gave me back $6.47 for the shipping charges. Now I don't have to feel jipped that I could've just picked it up in store and saved myself $6.47 . =P

Yeah, your response made about as much sense as the first one I got. Actually, looking at the second response, the guy actually referenced a free shipping promotion that happened over the summer.
So that doesn't really make any sense either (but not looking at that the second reason made more sense). Not too unexpected with outsourced customer service, I guess.

I was hoping to price match the deal at my CC, but they told me that it was a "promotion" as opposed to being a set price.
