[Dead] R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 (pre-owned) for $1.69 on Ebgames.com

I was lucky enough to place an order for Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS) pre-owned, today at 3:38 PM EST. I wasn't able to use coupon code AFF25, because somehow I reached my limit? I just sent an e-mail to EBgames.com, in hopes of them adding coupon code PREOWN15, to my order, because I rather pay $1.69 than $1.99!!! I hope the order goes through... :D
 
Heh, ordered this as a birthday present for my brother a week ago, problem is I ended up spending 2.99 after AFF25. Oh well.
 
Well, I got an e-mail from EBgames, and they just shipped Ridge Racer Type 4 today!!! I wasn't sure if the order went through, luckily it did. I got it for $1.69... :lol:

Anyone got their copy with the original packaging? My 2 discs came in the usual used game EB case.

UPDATE: Crap, my game is scratched and doesn't work. Oh well, the bubble envelope alone can cost $.5 to $1. I can use it to send textbooks I sell on half.com
 
I ussually trade-in all my games at Ebgames for FREE games & They never double check it. :)

Personally, They are Ebgames is the BEST game store i ever SHOP! :)
 
It looks like it's back...I placed an order today for the $1.99, pre owned. I wonder if my order will get cancelled, like it did for PS1 Tekken.

I bought a $1.99 Nba Live '97 from there and when it was scratched EB sent a replacement free. It is probably some sort of policy they have regarding defectives and it makes sense for a game of such little cost.

oh yea, just wanted to add that i did the reservation rewards thing (after the purchase) and got a 10 dollar voucher at ebgames.com for free!!! and of course i'm gonna cancel it before the free trial (30 days) is over :wink: so i basically spent $1.60 and got a 10 dollar voucher. good deal!

UPDATE: i already cancelled by calling them and they were very polite and non-pushy about it. also, i received a cancellation e-mail from them within seconds of ending the phone call. after i cancelled the reservation rewards dealy, i ordered more games from ebgames website (using the 5 for 1 deal when it was still good) and i signed up with reservation rewards again (w/ a different e-mail address) and it worked again! HAHA, now i have 2 $10 dollar vouchers for ebgames, lol! i tried using one already and it didn't work with any codes :( (preown 20% discount, etc.), and i dunno if they're stackable, but $20 free is still free, hehe. :p

I did the same thing, doraemonkerpal. I spent $1.70 and got a $10 EBgames voucher! I cancelled my Reservation Rewards membership after an hour or so. They asked me why I wanted to cancel my membership, I just said, I didn't think I would ever use the service, and that was that. I also received a cancellation e-mail very quickly. Hmm, now what Xbox game I'm going to get with my $10 EBgames voucher?... :wink:
 
Very nice game. The graphics are easily the best of any racer on the PS. Drifting is smoother than any other racer on the system. Presentation is very slick. Music is jazzy. Getting all the car variations is a chore though. Deliberately losing sucks. The RR1 60 fps bonus disc is sweet. I still think R4 is the best game in the RR series and one of the best racers of all time.
 
No problem, the Ridge Racer series just happens to be my favorite racing series (well, it's pretty much the only track racing series left). I would like to note though that you may or may not receive the extra 60 fps RR1 disc from EB since it's pre-owned. Just hope...though it's not that big a deal anyway.

Hopefully, you have a GameShark or some other cheat device. Otherwise, if you plan on getting all the car variations (car models plus team colors), it'll take over 60 hours (and it's not worth it IMO). However, within 10 hours, you should easily be able to obtain all the car models.

And if this game will be one of your first racers, you're in luck: R4 seemed to have been deliberately made to control smoothly for folks new to racers. You can grip curves easily with certain cars and power slide without fear of spinning out as opposed to RRV where you have to drift pretty much every corner or the earlier RR's where you'll easily spin out of control if you're not used to the rough and strict drifting maneuvers. Anyway, have fun!
 
Mine was weird when it arrived. I got half of the case (a 2 disc case with only the front insert, not the back one), no manual, and both discs had rental scan stickers on them, which luckly peeled off really easily.

It's in great working condition though luckly.
