9/26 update: Deal is now DEAD

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition (PS3) is $29.99 at Best Buy (currently backordered 1-2 weeks online) Best Buy's sale is both online and in store and should be good up through at least Saturday (9/25).

EDIT: Amazon just got re-stocked, but is currently listed as $39.96. We'll see if they'll price-match again. I encourage you all to tell them about the lower price, although I haven't been able to get them to accept BestBuy's product page as a valid URL.

Reviews can be found at Wired and IGN. The Wired article from the TGS says that the US version won't be patched until November, but that is wrong (patch for Move support for existing Gold Editions is already out). Credit to Decker for finding the articles.

I know this has been mentioned in several other threads, but I'm making a new thread for those people who don't know about it.

Not sure why Amazon's shipping estimate is so long, but I've updated the OP to let others know. It may just be a fluke that they'll correct later (because of the rushed price match?).

Or it may be due to waiting for an actual Move specific reprint? I haven't heard anything about this though; I know that the current Gold Editions have a patch download to enable Move support.

EDIT: And the simplest explanation is that Amazon itself doesn't have any in stock at the moment, so they're waiting for a restock.

I am tempted to get it but I saw a post that there will be a ps3 gold box deal tuesday. Decisions decisions...

I want to get this game and Eternal Sonata.

It would be awesome if RE5 Gold was part of the Gold Box on Tuesday, but I wouldn't count on it. Amazon's already lowered their price by 25% ($10) to match BB, so I don't think they'd go much cheaper than that.

Good news is, Best Buy's sale should last through the week (I think), so there should be time to wait and see.

And I want to get Eternal Sontata also!
Anyone played it with Move yet? If so, how is it?
Pretty enjoyable; it's just like RE4 Wii Edition. I think you have to waggle a bit too much for some things (like when you're caught by a Licker Beta; I died twice because I couldn't get one to let go quick enough). I probably looked like this: :joystick:
for some odd reason amazon is saying it'll take 2 to 5 weeks to ship. any clue why?
Yup it sounds like it's unofficially getting PH and GH status and they are probably out of the non PH and GH titles.

PS3 version is the one to get right? b/c all the DLC is truly on disc?? Plus already got the regular edition on 360, so this would be nice..OH and if I could get past the first damn fight with the executioner (not even 15 mins in), that would be nice too! still a great game though..

Glad someone else has that problem. Took a ton of tries but finally beat him and it was the only place I got stuck for the rest of the game. Started a new game+ as soon as I beat it just so I could use some of the big guns on him and feel like a tough guy.

You mean the first boss?
i remember playing the demo and running around while wasting ammo up and down and also dieing so many times

Is the standard edition compatible with Move?

Placed an in-store pickup order at Best Buy. Gives me a few days to see what happens during the Amazon Gold Box event and decide if I really want it.

I heard they are re-releasig it with the Move Patch built in and patching the existing gold user via an update. It could be amazon is waiting for the new version.

Well since I love my BB threads so much, I'll just make a general comment about move after my 3 minute impression. BB I went to just got done setting up the demo, an employee calibrated for himself and did the training on the sword fighting game. It looked bad ass. I interrupted and asked if I could try b/c I had to be at work in 20 mins (and he was an employee hogging it, wtf!?) Anyways, I got into a fight and it was pretty cool. It was also VERY precise. Responded well. Noticed they only had 8 boxes of the $99 package, guy said they'd been selling briskly. It was a fight not to take out the credit card..

Walking out, I realized while it is very fun and professional, it only does cater to the hardcore, more mature gamers. I figured that my 4.5 year old son, who just violently flails the Wiimote around during sword fight (Sports Resort) that Move might not be for him just yet. Will I get it? I think so..going back after work! :D

edit: to be thread related, over the past month, I notice that copies of RE5 gold PS3 are not overwhelming. Store I went to only had one. This is in the ad for sure, so get it out there soon if you want it.
Now, this is in stores right?
yes definitely in-store, with promo'd shelf tag and everything!

Is that Best Buy check in stores thing on their website accurate? Says the store by me doesn't have any, debating on just going to go myself and check.

Thanks for the heads up. Was able to pick up what appears to be the last copy at the Canyon Springs Parkway (Moreno Valley, SoCal) Best Buy.

That's okay I can wait for Amazon to ship it. I have Halo Reach so that should keep me busy for a few weeks.

sweet if it is already patched then I will pick this up this week, been playing MOVE all weekend with the kids and it is way better than the Wii (not just a gimmick device), the gladiator with 2 MOVE controllers is a blast, can't wait to try it with RE5, Hopefully you can use 2 MOVE controllers for 1 person and also 2 MOVE controllers for 2 people split screen would be awesome. Have to try will let know this week.

Does bestbuy price match in post? I picked up the move controllers and a copy of RE5 Gold at BB on Friday. But the game was $49.99. Can I take the opened game/receipt into the store on monday and get the difference back? Thanks!

Side note. I never played it with regular controls, but I am loving the move controls! :)

If they don't take care of you, just buy a new one and return it with your old receipt.

Your title says "CAG in Training" but with a idea like that you sound like a serious CAG Vet! I will prolly end up going that route if they dont price match. :) Thanks for the heads up.

They should do an adjustment, just to be sure google best buy's price adjustment policy. Usually its a week or 2.

Two weeks last time I checked and people think I'm crazy when I say to hang on to your receipt. You shouldn't even need to bring in the items, just the receipt but never hurts to call before hand.

It's a 30 day price match policy at Best Buy. They'll match their own or any other local brick and mortar competitor's price if it's lower within 30 days. To be clear you can't return opened media merchandise unless the product itself is defective.

Really? The amount of simple Move games for simple minds says otherwise, having more tuned motion controls has zero to do with it.

Man I want to pull the trigger on this deal but I have already shelled out so much on PS Move this past weekend. I want to try playing this game with the move controls but I am going to try to hold off until I can get it secondhand here on CAG or somewhere else. Maybe the Heavy Rain Move patch this week will help quench my thirst for a "hardcore move title".

Has anyone played this with PS Move and can speak for how it plays?

Absolutely. I remember buying NFS Shift awhile ago at $60 from BB, went on sale the next week for $20, so I took my receipt to BB and got $20 in cash, no questions asked. I didn't even take the game into the store, just brought the receipt and it was fine.

Definitely picking up a copy tomorrow! :D
I've been dying to play the new scenarios and I'm excited for the new Move controls, considering how great RE4: Wii Edition turned out.
