Dead Rising 2 High Stakes Edition
Aww, I thought the whole thing is bundled together in the poker case. Are you sure they are just separate pieces thrown into a shipping box?
Pretty sure since they don't have it pictured all fitting together. That case is very tiny and you would need both sides to accomodate the diameter of the chips. Look at the scale of the two packs of cards in the photo.

Actually, it's not a photo. I thought you were the one who pointed out that it was a render of the product, and not the final copy.

Just sayin'.
I think you may be right, I've been seeing the same thing the last couple of days I try to order. Gets all the way to the end when trying to order the 360 version but when you try and submit the order it won't accept it.

CORRECTION: Just tried it again right after posting and it took the order for the 360 version.
I went to order the 360 version and I got some unexpected error message after submitting the order. When I check my account, it appears the order did go through. My credit card statement also has the the order as pending. I also had to change to a credit card for payment, as using PayPal, for some reason wasn't working.

The Zombrex edition doesnt even show everything fitting together. Many games dont show the box it all comes in.

Actually, I was not the one who pointed that out. I was the one that pointed out that you can't tell what the chips are made of based on the image provided and that's still the case.
The Zombrex edition doesnt even show everything fitting together. Many games dont show the box it all comes in.
True, but Zombrex is going to be sold at retail, so it has to have an outer box. The High Stakes package is going to be sold direct, so based on my past experience with Capcom, they will just put the items together in a shipping box. Sure, it could have some amazing outer box, but I have never known a company to not mention a selling point like that and I doubt you are going to get something much better than shown as some people here are apparently hoping.
Actually, I was not the one who pointed that out. I was the one that pointed out that you can't tell what the chips are made of based on the image provided and that's still the case.
Which also means you can't tell what the box will be either.
Which also means you can't tell what the box will be either.
True, I can't say with 100% accuracy, but there are numerous posts on Capcom Unity claiming it will be packaged just like the Dojo Edition (i.e. just some stuff in a cardboard box along with the sealed game) and the moderators there who work for Capcom aren't denying it or disputing the posts. So, I'd say it's far more likely than not that this will not be packaged together in a nice sealed outer box.

Why has this now evolved into a useless discussion of whether this will or will not all come bundled into a single box/case?

Most likely it will not, as there have been no mention or pictures depicting it to. Then again, same applies to the Zombrex CE.

I'd just like to get this out of my system now...especially since I've been drinking lots of beer tonight...

If you plan on getting the vanilla version, great! But then why come here and crap on the thread?

If you're going for the Zombrex Edition, great too! But why make asinine remarks about one CE version (not being a one-packaged deal) when the same most likely applies to that version as well?

Point is, in general, is that I'm getting fucking tired...really fucking tired of people lately coming in and attempting to take a shit on a valid topic. This is NOT Slickdeals nor is it Gamefaqs.

If you do not know how to compose yourself like a true CAG'er, then go elsewhere...you are not needed nor are you wanted here.

He's right, this is CAG. We should be talking about how we flipped 60 copies of another game to afford this special edition instead.

Then feel free to not spend any more time in this thread. If you don't like to discuss deals, that's cool because all you ever need to do is read the first post in every thread. Some of us actually enjoy discussing deals and if information changes (i.e. we learn the item is really super limited or comes with something that makes it more collectible), we'd like to know that. That's the point. If this is just a bunch of stuff in a box like the Dojo edition, it impacts the future value. Given that this isn't a traditional deal (i.e. an item below MSRP), if there isn't something that makes this at least financially worth what you are paying, people should be aware of it. Despite the claim earlier that some guy resold his Dojo edition for $300, most people were actually really upset when they actually received theirs because it really just was a bunch of junk in a box. I suspect the same thing is going to happen here and as long as everyone is aware of it, then if they still want to buy it, that's totally fine and up to them. I do, however, have a problem with people repeatedly posting misinformation and speculation here trying to convince themselves and others that this is a better deal than it appears to be.

why has no one mentioned anything about those special green dice?

anyway, I value DR2 at the vanilla price of $20. DLC costume packs at $2-$3 each. City map $4. Which means the premium on this poker set alone is a staggering $64!! [greater than MSRP of a new release.]

Those Capcom gurus really know how to milk early-adopters and obsessive-compulsive collectors. I say, no thanks, just the standard edition; 6 months from now for me.

They wont let me cancel my order even though it hasn't shipped yet. This is the last time I'll ever order anything from them.

The "High Stakes" edition is one of the laziest special editions I have ever seen. Can publishers/developers stop releasing special editions that contain worthless poker related content and useless junk? You would think they could get a LITTLE more creative when coming up with these special editions, especially when charging an over inflated price of $99. I think these publishers knowingly alienate and, at the same time, prey on us collectors because they know we can not resist the "double dip" purchase. And that would be 'okay' to some extent if there were 2 separate editions WORTH purchasing, but c'mon Capcom... what is this garbage? I think it's time to step up your game as far as your packaged content is concerned.

Also, don't charge me for a "golden" sweepstakes ticket that allows me to potentially win some oversized 6-ft statue that I do not want to begin with. And for those that would actually want the thing, why not just offer that sweepstakes for the statue in all the versions of your game, and give everyone an equal chance to win?
They wont let me cancel my order even though it hasn't shipped yet. This is the last time I'll ever order anything from them.
That isn't right. If this is true, you should simply inform your bank that you haven't received the order and that it hasn't even shipped yet and place a stop payment on your card. If Capcom doesn't like it...too fucking bad.

Atleast its not as bad as normal "Special editions" where they just have maybe a steelbook case, a download code for some useless online skin, slipcover, a artbook only worth flipping through quickly one time and a dvd of bonus content which is basically the devs jerking off at how awesome they are for 11 minutes. All that shit is truly useless and not any fun. I mean atleast the poker chips are something you can sort of display and actually use. Granted it still doesnt mean it sucks less.

I'm pretty sure it's not Capcom that handles their store orders though. Last I checked it was Digital River which also handles EA Store orders. They are freaking terrible to deal with if there is a problem. I ordered a SFIV press kit two years ago and it arrived literally crushed despite the fact that the outer packaging was perfect and undamaged. Obviously, it was crushed before they put it in the shipping box. I couldn't ever get anyone on the phone to ask for a replacement and finally had to just mail it back at my expense. It took a month to get a refund and they didn't cover shipping either way. I called Capcom and they apologized, but said they couldn't do anything to refund my money or replace the kit. That was my last Capcom store order. Sadly, that wasn't even the only bad experience I had ordering from the Capcom Store. The one other order I placed maybe five years ago resulted my credit card number being stolen. The credit card company handled it, but it took Capcom forever to admit that one of their now former employees had stolen a bunch of customer card numbers and not some random hacker.

Crap. You serious? I was going to cancel considering that it still isn't "sold out" yet. Yet again another Limited, my ass, Edition.

*edit* Well it looks like they have a manual cancel system. Well, it's a waiting game now. I was hope it would be semi-limited and that I could buy it, play it and recoup my funds or make a little on it given some of the past Capcom LE. Learned my lesson.

Hate to break it to you, but this is not a "bait and switch."

Sorry, but I've gotta agree. They clearly state in the description that there is a "chance to win" the said statue.

I had to cancel because I couldn't justify both LEs with my measly income and I agree this looks to be available in NA for a while.

I bet people willing to sell it outside the country can do something with it but I bet this will be available on the site post launch. I can't remember ever seeing any decent store sales though.

Sorry to have to ask this but how do you cancel on their site without having to send them an email? I looked everywhere and couldn't find anything like what you talk about here.

I'm wondering also... I had to e-mail them twice to cancel. The first time they completely ignored what my message actually said and told me something like "don't worry, it hasn't shipped because it's a pre-order, it'll come out 9/28". Like I asked "why isn't it here yet?"

I ended up canceling the Zombrex edition as well and just getting it for PC.

I emailed them twice also but both times they just refer me to their no refund policy. Pretty aggravating.

Capcom store can suck monkeys balls. Last time I ordered the SFIV Tournament stick from them, they took 6+ months to fulfill the order and wouldn't allow me to cancel neither. By then, the stick over-saturated the market and I could have gotten it for much cheaper.

I would think you could just put a stop payment on the transaction by calling your bank. If they choose to play hardball with their customers who no longer want their product, I say play hardball back.

Wow Capcom fail... I was excited for this (apparently unlike most lol) and I just got an email saying the package is out of stock and on backorder. I made my order like the 2nd day this thread was announced. There is no way my order should be placed in backorder. This is complete bullshit, especially if they ship the "gold ticket" with the first batch.

They announce on their website that there is still stock available, but my order, which is old, isn't placed. fuck capcom...

EDIT: Requested a cancellation of my order. I can practically guarantee the gold ticket will go out to launch copies only so I'm not even going to waste my time. I wanted the poker set, but if they want to screw over customers like that, then they can go fuck themselves. Won't be ordering from them direct anymore....

Darknuke, when did you preorder? I preordered mine on the 9th and still got the stupid backorder email. Besides, I was still receiving emails with the countdown to buy the game a few days back. Stupid Digital River, they are the ones managing the Capcom store and causing this mess.

I ordered mine on Sept 2nd. Digital River can suck it... You think they are the ones saying on the website that there is still stock? Cause that's such horse shit that they are lying about that. Seems like it sold out within a day or two...

Sandbox games are usually anything but repetitive no? I mean you're killing zombies but the way you can do it is completely up to you. That's how the first one was at least.

I got an email this morning saying the game was in-stock and that they would start shipping today. Then a few hours later I get another email saying that the game was on backorder and my order wouldn't ship until it was instock.

Sounds likes someone just jumped the gun a little and accidentally set the item in-stock and ready to ship? At least I hope so, because if it's actually on backorder I'm just going to cancel and buy it on Steam.

Hey, I was the guy that sold the SSF4 Dojo Edition for $300 overseas. I wasn't looking to make a killing, but when I got it, it was just a bunch of crap in a box with no thought or meaning put behind it. It all came in a cardboard box and everything tossed inside the duffel bag. No special game sleeve or steelbook and if I didn't order it from the Capcom Store and didn't know any better, I would have thought somebody just stole a bunch of crap at the TGS that was SF related and tossed it together and called it the Dojo Edition.

I have a very good feeling that this version will be done the exact same way with everything tossed together in a cardboard box and shipped. This will be unlike the Zombrex or Outbreak Editions that will be in some boxed CE set. That appears to be the way that Capcom's online store kind does their special editions.

Now as far as cancelling, on a hunch I just cancelled the PS3 portion of my order yesterday as I feel that PS3 owners will not embrace and simply hate this game as all the love is geared towards the 360 version. They cancelled it with no problem at these numbers listed below. Hell, I just got an email a few minutes ago stating that the 360 order which I placed on 9/1 is on backorder and it wasn't like this had a very long pre-order window so who knows if I even get this?

Maybe that will be Karma and I'll just keep my Outbreak Edition.

I think I'm the most pissed because I canceled my pre-order at amazon and I had it at $55 after tax because of gold box plus a really short term deal they had a while back. That with the $10 GC would've gotten me it for so much cheaper. I just love collectors editions and felt like a little gambling with the gold ticket. I could care less about how much it is worth in the end. Dead Rising is one of my favorite franchises so I didn't plan on reselling it.

But with this bullshit Capcom pulled, I don't think I can ever approve of them again. I still have faith in them as a developer, but as a retailer they can suck a fat one. Keep in mind, THEY hired Digital River and therefore are responsible for their stupid assery.

Look at the backorder email from Capcom. It's actually from Digital River "[email protected]". Digital River is managing the Capcom store on Capcom's behalf. I have had all sorts of fun with Digital River trying to buy Capcom stuff the past 2 years. The last snafu was my preorder of the SF Dojo Edition. After a few months of emailing back and fro trying to get my game, Digital River quietly refunded my money at the end of June and sent me an email apology in August.

Has anyone actually talked to someone at Capcom or Digital River who confirmed it is in fact backordered? Or is there anyone who ordered the High Stakes Edition who didn't get the email?

Just a thought, but I have dealt with countless inventory management systems and my thinking is that someone made a mistake and entered that it was available today, but since its actually not released until the 28th, the system automatically marked every order as backordered.

That could be. I just figured that they were sending it out today so it would get to our places by release day. I dunno and don't really care to be honest. I just want my order cancelled at this point. I re-ordered my amazon copy so I don't lose out on the $10 GC as well...

So I'm a little confused on what's going on. I got an email saying it would ship today, then an email an hour later saying it was backordered. Does this mean they took to many preorders for the High Stakes edition?

nobody knows yet. It could either mean that or it could mean they accidentally changed the release date to the 24th (officially comes out the 28th) and because of the, the system was like "Oh crap, we don't have any stock available until the 28th, better send out emails to everyone saying they are on backorder!"

I got an e-mail, at 11:15 AM EDT today, stating:

".....The release date for the preorder product has changed. The product listed below will now be available on September 24, 2010."

I ordered on Sep. 4. I haven't received a back order notice.
