i see what's going on here. it's not just one straight shot through the whole game. they made it so interactive that it's not meant to be played the same way twice (or thrice or 4 or 5 or 6 times...) Cause if you played all the way through once, it would take like 10 hours, if that (judging by the length of the 1st day.)

pretty cool...but yeah, everyone's pissed that they messed with the typical flow of a game.

There are some pretty cool cutscenes if you leave the game running at the title screen :) not sure if they are meant for the title or if they are taken from the game..

so...I think I will jump on the SAVING SUCKS bandwagon. I just got to the park and I didn't know this but the three guys in the jeep start shooting at me, long story short I die and then it says Load game or Save status and start from save well I save status (level 4) it starts the game over I go back to the cut scene with the helicoptor but I am a level 4....

Picked it up at about 2 pm and have been playing it ever since. Great game except for the stuff that people already mentioned (small text and save system).

I want to pick it up, but I have $63 in credit I want to use at GS, and no gamestops within 200 miles of me have it in stock yet, I think there might have been a shipping problem
Alot of people seem to have trouble with the convicts in the jeep, so here's the way I beat them, I didn't have much of a problem.

-1st, before heading out to the Park, run into Jill's Sandwiches and grab the 2 bottles of Orange Juice behind the counter.
- Next, Grab the hidden Submachine Gun on top of the blue awnings (same place it was in the demo)
- Then, go out there and as soon as the fight begins just run around in the area with numerous trees (start out almost in it, just move forward and to the right a tad bit)
- Run around trying to dodge the bullets, and wait for them to hit a tree, which shouldn't take long
- Take out your sub-machine gun and lay it on the dude in the gunner seat's head. You should be able to kill him in 1 try if your aim is good. If they get away before you kill him, just wait for them to crash again.
- After you do that, all you have to do is wait for them to crash. Try to stay as near to the jeep as possible w/o getting hit.
- As soon as they crash next, run up to the jeep and immediately hit B to grab the Heavy Machine Gun off the back of the it.
- Just run around waiting for them to crash, kill the passenger and then the driver.

If anyone needs clarification or more help with other parts of the game, let me know. I have a pretty good strat for Adam to.
Oh shit, I had no idea about the sub machine gun!
Dude, seriously... I hated the Table Tennis demo because it wasnt a 2D Capcom Fighter. When I downloaded it, I was like... what the hell is this shit? Ping Pong?? fuck!
Considering its about surviving 72 hours in a fucking mall, how much more survival can you get?

Then what the fuck is considered Survival Horror?
Where the fuck is the shotgun? Anyone know?
I found near the beginning of the game. I don't know if its random of not, but check in the gatherings of zombies.

Okay, just to clarify, if I hadn't just saved my status when I died, I would have been able to start where I last saved at?

Is that right?
Okay, just to clarify, if I hadn't just saved my status when I died, I would have been able to start where I last saved at?

Correct, and if you do save your status, you will restart the game but at your current level. Including my Frank having his Megaman hat

Yeah thats what happened to me. I was wanting to save and quit, and it took me to new game, but saved my level 4 stats, and nice suit. So i guess reload (or whatever its called) is the option

Alright, the save system is PISSING ME THE fuck OFF! What does it matter if I save at the Security Room? I just end up having to start from the very beginning of the game anyway.

Does it have something to do with choosing "save and end" instead of "load game" after I die?

I had a bad disc apparently, got to level 4, defeated the first psychopath, walked away, and came back to a DDE. Did it 4 more times, never getting past going up the starirs. I used the old OXM trick of boiling it and it got past it no problem.

Why not save at the restrooms on the first floor or in the movieplex
Why not save at the restrooms on the first floor or in the movieplex
I went in the restroom and didn't see an option to save anywhere. Maybe I missed something? I went in both rooms/stalls, looked around for a while, didn't see anywhere to save.

Stupid question, were you in the guy or the gal bathroom. I am pretty sure you have to be in the guy (the wall mounted urination stations ) then just walk up to a stall and hit B.

this might be a stupid question.

the convicts in the park, if you kill the driver will the jeep continue to drive around? I might've accidently killed the driver on my way to another part of the mall. they were firing at me, so I popped out my handgun and started firing back. now the drive is hunched over the wheel like he is dead or something.

reading the reviews on the save system made me nervous when I played the game. now when I go places I make sure I find 2-3 food items to hold on to, so that I don't have to keep running around trying to find something to eat. there seems to be creamer and apples in the security room all the time, so I take those with me if I stop by.

using the parasol made me laugh :)
try boiling the disc in water.
I don't think he's that stupid. Anybody who's an anybody knows you're supposed to scrape off the top layer with a fork first.

Okay, now that I see how the save system works, I really don't have a big issue with it. It's just that first initial shock of hitting "Save Status" when you die the first time and having to start from the beginning. Now that I know what to do, it's really not that different than saving in a lot of games.

Please go back to the PS3 boards with your thread crapping, please. You bitch, piss and moan about people making fun of the PS3, now you are just trolling. GTFO and STFU. You haven't ever played the damn game, so you know jack shit about what the game. Please leave us morons who like shitty games on a shitty system be fanboys and suck each others cock in peace, please.

I am about to fire this bitch up, can't wait. I played the demo a lot and want to see what the rest of the mall is like.

WHAT THE fuck!!!????!?!?

I didn't think saving your stats and quiting would start you from the fucking begining!! :bomb: jesus fucking christ I am so pissed right now. There goes about 4 hours of the game.

fuck!

EDIT

After posting that I look at all the new messages about this same issue...damn why didn't I read before saving :/

I went in both. I probably missed it though. So, if I save in the restroom, die later on, and then used the "save status and end" option, will I end up in that restroom when I reload the game, or will I start from the beginning cinema scene again?

I really, really, really feel your pain. I'm not going back to the game for another hour or so, just let myself calm down a bit.

Just some fun personal facts, (pre-warning I did the save status restart, so I was at lvl 5 when this happened)

I killed 362, zombies in the opening, the place was cleared out. I go to the door to inspect the barricade, turn around and now the gated end of the beginning is covered in zombies (stupid cheating engine)

Possible spoiler
I was unable to save anyone from the openning, though I did keep a couple alive up until the foremention point. They were the ones fighting near the gate

Also, discovered the shotgun in the opening as well. One of the "survivors" has it.

You will go back to the start of the fucking game. This is the most stupid thing I have EVER seen in a game before. I, like you, logically thought that you would go back to your last save spot with level/skills in tact.

Nope, you start off on the fucking roof.

Sorry I'm just so pissed right now.

Haha, yeah, we're all going through it. The good thing is that it doesn't take much time to catch back up to where you were the second time through because you know exactly what you are supposed to be doing and you can skip the cut scenes.

Again, that is because "Save Status and End" is the restart the game up, how about trying the Load Save option there.

And, if you save at the urinals, you will be fine and start there.

Terrible Sorry, missed the Edit.

this game rocks, and the boss fights are sweet. I like how some of the bosses are optional and mainly there to access certain stores and get major points... I'm definitly going to have to play this game a ton to ulock alot... The leveling up suystem is the best I've seen ever since every time I've leveled up, it's never felt useless whatever I get.

There really is a way to fix the disk by putting it in boiling water. I'm sure one of the resident link geeks will find it.

Whoa:whistle2:#
So are there any tips to saving survivors? For me they always just seem to get caught up by a bunch of zombies and die.
load up on queen bees since it clears a crowd real fast. Just run ahead of you survivor with a melee weapon and kill the few in the path, and when there's a crowd around or blocking, smash that bitch bee. Easyiest way to get queen bees is by making nectar and drinking and looking for zombies standing still acting confused.

The first thing I did when I saw the survivors in the first mission was hit them with a bat ... They did sorta look like zombies with weapons at an angle.

For those with hard-to-read text problems, I heard that tweaking the sharp settings on your TV could make the text a little bit easier to read. Someone try this out and see if it works?
So are there any tips to saving survivors? For me they always just seem to get caught up by a bunch of zombies and die.
If you can all get to the Winchester, then everything will be fine. You and all the surviving can have a pint and sit back and relax.

Sorry could not resist:)

Thanks for the tips rolento.

Hmmm I think I will go through just the case missions now (so I can unlock unlimited mode)

I can always go back and do the side missions later right?
Considering its about surviving 72 hours in a fucking mall, how much more survival can you get?

So, by using your defination, Madden 07 could be considered to be Survival Football because you're trying to survive an entire season.

Survival Horror is a bullshit term Resident Evil nerds started using to describe the game's unique elements. Rather than admit that Resident Evil was nothing but a brilliant 3rd person action/adventure game, we decided to "invent" a new genre and called it Survival Horror.

So the save system is similar to Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, in the sense that you have the option to "save" at any time, which restarts the game with your previous stats? I guess I'm the only one, but that sounds pretty cool to me. Especially since you still have the option to save in the bathroom. It's a flawed, but unique, system.

Whew! Now that I have the save system figured out, the game is pure joy. I can't wait to beat it so I can get unlimited mode.

is anyone having trouble with the boss at the start of Case 2? I don't think I'm doing it right

-first I tried to kill all of the zombies near the professor, which I did. failed
-second, I tried to help Brad kill Carlito. he got him down to an empty bar of health, but nothing happened.

If this game was merely mediocre, the save system would absolutely kill it. Why must the save points be so few and far between? OH well, the rest of it is great so that balances it out but I swear to christ this is the last fucking time I'm doing the Carlito boss battle.

If you have the flying dodge just do that all the way to the jewlery store where Carlito stands. Then stand in the door way hugging the wall (the side where he won't see you.) He won't be able to shoot you and he'll run around a little bit, just shoot him every now and then when he stops, but don't waste your bullets shooting into the wall.

so the mission is to kill Carlito, not to go after the professor first? also where can I get a gun at? before this starts I only have melee weapons on me.

Grab the SMG on the Blue Awning or a handgun from a zombie cop, and another thing that really helps here is to go into the nearby sports store (should be right by where Brad is standing). Go into there and grab a skateboard and then just skate into him, hop off and beat him with melee weapons.

So if you save in the bathroom and quit and you haven't died you start back in the bathroom? Or if you save in the security room you start there? My bottom line is there anyway to just save and not have to start the game over everytime?

Thanks I'll have to try that. I did the skateboard thing once, but I forgot I didn't have any healing items on me. Do I have to land the final blow on Carlito, because I've watched Brad take him down to an empty health bar. That didn't kill him though.
