If you are lucky to live near an Alco, you might want to stop by and pick one up.

If the PSP doesn't float your boat, you can pick up the Nintendo DS for $90.00 bucks + tax instead. "

One of the few times I wish I lived in the midwest. ;)
Thank the gods somebody else is willing to admit that they too exploit deals to make a little extra scratch.

I hope your hide is as flameproof as mine.

I'm sure somebody will start whining about how making a profit is wrong sooner or later.
I don't think most people around here generally have a problem with buying a few things you know you can make money off of. The problem comes when you start hoarding games and not leaving anything good for other CAGs and people in general.

I do live in the midwest, but the nearest Alco (whatever the hell that is) is 2 and a half hours away. Screw that. Alco, you suck!

Damn. The nearest Alco (didn't even know these existed) is about an hour away.

A great deal, but there's no way I'm going to drive that far.

i have one less than 30 minutes away...but i already have a psp and a ds. Anyone know if they have memory stick pro duo's?
oh for GODS SAKE. Someone use that thing called a damn CELL PHONE and call. I would, but you know ;)
As a matter of fact, I used my cell phone and called them earlier tonight. And I found out that they don't answer the phone at 10pm on Wednesday.

...that help?

Consequently I also found out that they don't have answering machines with the store hours.
screw PSP! I want a new fancy pants monitor. I hope they carry both Monitors and Fancy Pants
Oh no, but you can only choose one! Perhaps they'll have Fancy Pants with a built in monitor. That might be bad with the ladies though, as they'll think that you're looking at your crotch all the time.

Yuck those stores are only in redneckish towns (at least in IL). I live near/in chicago and its not worth the drive. Some of the towns listed I've never even heard of. The cost of gas would even out the cost of picking a PSP up where I'm at.
Nashville is not even 30-60 minutes away from me so I might have to hit them up tomorrow for a PSP. I'm trying to talk my friend into getting one as well. He is wanting to use the 40% on NCAA 06.
Dang it, wrong Nashville.

One is less than 30 minutes away....I don't have a darn thing to do tomorrow so I'll be heading out for one of those new-fangled PSP thingies......the things they can do these days with those books and what not....i wished i'd have learnt how to read

(sidenote....i do have high speed internet and my sister learned how to read and write for me.....thanks ma...i mean sis!)
I have one near me but It wouldnt be worth if they dont have gameing stuff. Has anyone actually been inside an Alco?
I was in one today. Imagine what it would be like if Kmart got knocked up by Walmart, had to drop out of school, wound up working at MacDonalds, the child never had a strong parental figure, and turned to a life of drugs. That would be Alco.
Hey whats going on, I didn't know there was CAG's from Southern Illinois. We will have to go deal hunting sometime.
Hey! Yeah, too bad there aren't many places *to* go deal hunting down here...
Well, my store had no PSP's but they have a slim PS2, so I am going to pick that up for my sister's birthday.
Did they have any nice TVs? That's what I was hoping on picking up, cause I already have a PSP and DS.

If you are asking if they have any HDTV's or even any flat screens, no. They had some decent sized RCA's (around 36 inches), but nothing good. So no, I would say they do not have any good TV's.

The one I went to did have a few DS's and said they had on occasion had PSP's in, but were currently out. I'm going to hope that they have one in when I go in tomorrow, but odds are they won't.

So why isn't this store in bigger cities or does Wal-Mart just SUCK up the Redneck Neocon population entirely?
And for you people offended by that consider Wal-Mart had the cover of Willie Nelson's new album changed because it was a Marijuana leaf. GOD forbid a kid sees that and asks their parent what it is.
I checked the Alco's in IL and I've never heard of these towns. Gibson City, Havana, Hillsboro, Nashville, Newton, Red Bud and Shelbyville(Doh!). I was hoping there'd be one in either Ogdenville or Capitol City.
Simpsons...so classic. On another note I'm from IL and have never heard of any of these hick towns before.
Could we use this coupon at say...circuit city? They take other store coupons right?
Not unless there's an Alcoa near you. And I think getting them to accept a 40% coupon is a bit of a stretch.

Dammit, doesn't seem worth the 2 hour trip there for me for something that's probably not going to be there. Oh well, my car probably wouldn't fit in their parking lot spaces meant for horse and carriages, and would more than likely accuse me of witchcraft when they see a $100 bill.
yes! ive got a psp on hold at a location about 30 mins from me
Niiice. Hope the deal goes through, although, I don't imagine why it wouldn't.

Here's hoping more CAGs can get some luck with their store's stock.

My wife works at an Alco (Demotte, IN), and she sold all of there stock of PSPs before 9 am... and it si limited to stock on hand.

She also told me their DM told them that sale items do not apply to the 40% off coupon, so no DS to be had at the IN locations at least...

Alco is one of the worst locations to pick up games or game gear... always way overpriced and old stock... Her store never even had a copy of any Pokemon game in stock despite them being top sellers, and the have only recently clearanced NGC Spiderman (the first one mind you) down to $30... so you kinda get an idea of how they are.

That said, everything else is of the better than dollar store, lesser than Kmart variety.

IT WORKS!!!

I just got back with my $89.99 Nintendo DS. It took 1 hour and 2 gallons of gas to do it but it was worth it :)

So do you know how to get the coupon? Is it okay to print it up? Do they have their circulars at the stores?
Someone already asked, but it never got answered...

I drove about an hour up to my hometown, Wapakoneta, to an Alco ( I used to work there). All of the ads, which are in store by the cash registers, had the coupon cut out since the district manager did not want customers to "take advantage of them". I talked to my old manager and she pulled out a couple of coupons but there is a catch. These cannot be sale items. The DS was on sale from $159 to $149. There was a disclaimer on the other "control decks".
Long story short: $249 PSP for $142.
Awesome deal!

According to my wife who just got home, her store ~IS~ accepting printed coupons... but their DM told them to destroy any that they had in store. Something about using this as a survey to see how many people save them or some other nonsense.
Keep in mind this should cover the Indiana area, YMMV.

i picked up my PSP unfortunately it was an open box item, however I tested it and it seemed fine so I bought it anyway (since they refused to knock anything more off the price i picked up a slim ps2 to sell to recoup $25).

To comment on the actual store it is a dump to say the least. The game selection isn't very good however they have some games I haven't seen in stores lately, like $10 like castle shikagami 2. Newer games are overpriced (like 59.99! for red dead revolver and thats gone GH now i think). They had some used SNES and NES games but they were all sports titles.

For anyone that wants a ps2 or xbox or GC and has one of these stores nearby it would be worthwhile, I doubt there are any psps left but $90 for a ps2 or $60 for a gamecube is not too shabby.
My secret place is Midwest Cash
Cool, I've been there a couple times before but they've never had anything good. I'll have to check there more often.

Picked up my PSP. The total was $162.74 after tax.

The sticker/seal on the box was cut, but after examining nothing had been opened. Not even the battery and nothing has out of its packaging. So, I accepted it. Figured if anything was wrong with it I could bother Sony about it.

Not sure, but mine comes with the Spiderman 2 UMD. I thought this was only included with the Launch systems?

Hey Gamebit I'm in carterville right next to Carbindale. I guess the midwest part got all us all from southern IL reading this thread. I just wanted to say can some of you guys just cool it with the red neck crap. They state on there website they target rural areas and NOT places like chicago. I knew several of these towns right away. Heck Nashville has been to our State Football finals several times and so has Newton in the last few years. The state of IL goes all the way down to the ohio and Miss. river. It doesn't just end with chicago or Peiora and most of us are Cards fans down here not Cubs fans so bite my shiny metal A$$! We don't make black jokes or litino jokes because it's not right and you shouldn't make redneck jokes just because you haven't "heard" of the place. I also wanted to ask gamenit if he had called the store in nashville and asked about there TVs. It would be weet to find out they have some new HDTVs in lol.

I bought a PS2 at the store nearest me (because they had no PSPs) for my sister and I have a PSP on hold at a store 40 miles away. This more than makes up for all of the CC's near me being scavenged last year.
