Forgot to mention... that part in Chapter 14 made me feel like I was going to vomit. If you haven't gotten there yet, you'll know what I'm referring to by the time it's over.
This surprisingly long article details the backstory of the Marker from before the first game. I didn't realize they'd created such an elaborate mythos. No real spoilers here until it gets into what's happening in Dead Space 2, and even then it's vague:

But an interesting read if you nerd out on this kind of stuff like I do.
I do nerd out on this kind of stuff. I never thought to look for a wiki though. I'm interested in the overall story of the series, but some of the spin off stuff like the comics and movie have been bad. Supposedly the book is palatable though.
Rant warning-
Tried to play Extraction with a friend yesterday and was VERY disappointed. The move controllers weren't calibrating right. After locking the calibration in, the cursor would slowly creep off to the left side of the screen. I was constantly having to recalibrate mid-game. My friend didn't have as much trouble as I did though, so i'll have to look into it.
On top of that, since you are calibrating the controller to 1 point while holding it flat, when you attempt to turn the controller to the side for the alternate fire your cursor ends up jumping about 2 feet (in game feet) to the left or right depending on your grip.
I owned extraction for the Wii and sold it because of this package. The motion controls on the Wii were well executed. It's kind of a flawed game (cinematic camera moves too freely to allow good aiming most of the time), but combining that with the bad move controls made it too frustrating for us to play.
Anyway-
I've got a real bone to pick with people programming "pointer" games on the PS3. They all think they can do the "point at the eye to calibrate" thing, but years of light gun games have used the "Center, Corner, Corner" calibration for a reason.
The Shoot (and now Dead Space) both have weird calibration problems, meanwhile surprisingly the Toy Story 3 shooting gallery had the best aim function of the 3.
