Got

-X-men Legends
-THUG2 (I actually already had a copy of this unopened I got from gamestop a couple weeks ago but I returned that one and got it at TRU)
-Killzone

for the low low price of 40 bucks

pretty decent deal, and I figured killzone was worth checking out at the price of free, either that or neo contra but I refuse to play any contra that isn't a side scrolling shooter.

I walked into TRU yesterday and didn't even know about this sale. Picked up 3 budget games I've been wanting to get anyways.

$19.99 GCN - Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike
$19.99 GCN - Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life
$14.99 GCN - Viewtiful Joe 2

Total $39.98 = Tax

Solid deal. Games I ordered online with it:

- Ford Racing 2/Tekken Tag Tournament combo pack
- Midway Arcade Treasures 2 [PS2 version]
- Star Ocean: Till the End of Time

- Burnout 3: Takedown [PS2 version]
- Final Fantasy X
- Major League Baseball 2K5 [PS2 version]

Hope everyone was able to score a sweet deal on that rad Army Men RTS/Starsky & Hutch GCN value pack along with Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis...

Seriously, this sale doesn't have much of anything for a long time 'Cuber...

C'mon Black Friday!

Well, I was planning on waiting till next week to ease my pocketbook's pain, but I convinced myself I'll have to pull money out of my savings for tuition no matter how much my credit card bill is, so I scored the following:

TRU:
Super Monkey Ball
Namco 50th Anniversary Collection
Alien Hominid (free)
Total: $42.xx

BB (price match - which took for-friggin-ever... seriously... she asked me if PS2 and Gamecube were the same thing, and when I said no, she had apparently not read the second line of the heading that says "All PS2, Xbox and Gamecube):
Donkey Konga 2
Super Monkey Ball 2
Sonic Mega Collection
Total: $24.xx (gift cards, woo)

6 games for $66 after tax? I'll take it.

And the apocolypse was confirmed when I strolled in the door to catch the fiancee playing the Cube. Tetris Worlds, but its better than nothing. I'm actually more shocked she just got the thing started.

My wife loves the Buffy the Vampire Slayer XB game, Diablo II, and Quake II, too. Better your fiancee was playing Tetris Worlds than playing someone else's skin flute. ;)

Is that on DS or PSP? ;)

Yeah I remember the first time I came home and found the wife playing SSX by herself. Every since then I always pick up games I think she will like to play as well.

Argghhhh - made a huge post and it disappeared when I submitted...

Anyway, here's what I got today:

Xbox Galleon: $9.97
PS2 Katamari: $9.99
PS2 Alien Hominid: $0.00
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $4.99
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $4.99
PS2 Trivial Pursuit: $0.00
PS2 Sega Superstars: $9.97
PS2 Nightmare Druaga: $9.97
Xbox Galleon: $0.00

Total of $52.37 with tax.

It's all about getting them in the right order. I was lucky because the guy took my stack away to take them out of the security cases and, fortunately, kept the Alien Homind below the other two.

The Trivial Pursuits are for EB trade-in deals. The guy thanked me for taking them (clearing space). The Galleons will probably go back to TRU using a receipt where I got 2 for $11 each (and used for trade-ins).

They also had a ton of $14.95 tagged games at this store (Springfield, VA) that all rang up $12.99 - Pool Paradise for GC, Pinball Hall of Fame for GC, Ape Escape Pumped & Primed, and a few others. With the Buy 2 Get 1 free those are a pretty good deal. I had to pass because I have to get all these things into my carry-on bag to take home :).

So you are able to price-match this Buy 2 Get 1 free deal at Best Buy, eh? Whenever I try that kind of thing they always tell me they only do posted prices for individual games and not Buy X Get Y type discounts. I would definitely like to pick up Donkey Konga 2, especially since I got 2 sets of Bongos from ebgames.com and have no game to play them with yet.

You may want to peruse THIS thread before buying anything using the Buy 2 Get 1 - many of the green-tagged items aren't labelled as such, so it is good to go in with a list:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57064&page=1&pp=20

For example, neither Katamari nor Sega Superstars had a green tag - there was still another Sega Superstars at that Springfield TRU as of 8pm Monday (I got the only Katamari, sorry).

I had no troubles whatsoever. She called the manager over just to figure out how to do it (I actually saved a penny cause she told her to take $10 off two of the games, so I saved $20.00 instead of $19.99. Yay!). And called her over again to get an override.

And I'm actually the opposite... I got DK2, now I need to go get the 2 sets of bongos from ebgames.com. Those are up for tomorrow afternoon when they hit 9.99 again (I spent too much today, so I'm going to wait till tomorrow on principle).

My plan is also to go back this week and find some trade in fodder using the deal so I can get Super Mario Strikers preordered at GR, then I think I'm done for a while. Until I use my B2G1F coupon at Gamestop by the end of the month to get BG&E, Lost Kingdoms 2, and something else.

Thanks to sanjuro's post, I was able to get a great deal at TRU! Thanks for the info on the green tagged games and the order they scan them.

Bought Demon Stone (PS2) $9.99, Tron 2.0 (Xbox) $9.99, and then Alien Hominid (PS2) FREE! Three games for $21 and some change!

so games like Trivial Pursuit work for the EB's trade5 preorder zelda deal? Anyone tried trading-in multiple copies of the same game at the same time?
so games like Trivial Pursuit work for the EB's trade5 preorder zelda deal? Anyone tried trading-in multiple copies of the same game at the same time?
I just tried it and while TP is still PO at EB, the guy couldn't figure out how to get the Zelda preorder to work - so either it is dead, or he just couldn't do it... Either way I'm sad :D. And no, in general, you can only do one copy at a time for EB deals, so you'll need to find other game to go with it.

With the info here on how to get the $19.95 game for free with 2 green-tags, I picked these up for $40 total (all PS2):

Devil May Cry 2
Bombastic
Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland

Musashi: Samurai Legend
Legacy of Kain: Defiance
Alien Homonid

Thanks CAG and CAGer's!

Viewtiful Joe (GT)
Driv3r (GT)
Silent Hill 4 - Free!

May return Driv3r, not sure. It was the only other Green Tag game I could find.
(St. Charles, IL Store)

Picked up:

Katamari Damacy
Guilty Gear X2 Reload Xbox
Burnout 3 Takedown Xbox

Outlaw Golf 2 Xbox
Outlaw Golf 2 Xbox (don't ask)
Mech Assault 2: Limited Edition

$40 plus tax total.

the guy probably couldn't figure out how to do it. when I first did the Zelda preorder I only had 3 games and I asked the guy specifically if I can bring in 2 more to pay it all off. He said yes. So I went back a couple of days later and told a different guy I wanted to trade in these two game for Zelda and he goes, "okay, you'll get $6 for these two games". I was like, hey I want to do the deal, luckily the guy that told me about it earlier was there and had to show the guy how to put the Zelda deal in.
At the Rockville, MD TRU

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe (PS2): 19.95
Katamari Damacy: 19.99 - 10.00 = 9.99
Alien Hominid (PS2): 19.95 - 19.15 = 0.00

Katamari is apparently greentagged in their system, but there's no tag on the case. I don't know why it wasn't the free item, but I wasn't about to complain.

Grand Total (w/tax): 31.44
Yeah, I had the same thing happen last week with some LEGO when they did a B2G1 free sale on LEGO. (was surprised to see that I get a $50 set free when one of the three sets i got was a $25 green tag (originally $50) item .. didn't say anything, just left the store with a big grin on my face)

Thanks to Greenfox I was able to get Shadow of Rome, Katamari Damacy, and Kingdom Hearts for $30.

I really wanted to get either Alien Homid for the GC or Musashi for the PS2 but they didn't have those. And I didn't want Killzone because I have a ton of FPS's for the PC. I already own Katamari so I'll either return the one I bought today to get ten bucks back making the other two games ten bucks each.

I want Shadow of Rome and Suikoden 4. I went to 2 TRU and 2 BB with no luck. Can anyone pick up a copy of each for me? I may be able to get a game you need in return to trade or I'll pay.

Bummer.....wish I waited to buy my green tag games especially now with this glitch. By the way, my TRU had plenty of Suikoden IV and Musashi. I picked up the last Shadow of Rome though. If I can find another game to go with it for myself, I'd be happy to pick these up for people.

I picked up Katamari Damacy, Galleon, and Tron 2.0 for $20. NONE of them were tagged, and it took a good 20 minutes to spot what I wanted. It was worth it, since they probably wouldn't be there at all if they had been green tagged.

I snagged Sonic Heroes and Sonic Mega Collection for GCN and Crash Twinsanity for XBox. Not a bad deal. However, it seems like TRU's game selection gets worse and worse everytime I am there.

So far I got:

Super Mario Sunshine
Mario Golf
F-Zero GX

Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Dark Cloud

I want:

MGS: Twin Snakes
Super Mpnkey Ball 2
Tales of Symphonia

But can't find them in store. :\

Get the ad and price match. Best Buy is a good bet for those three.

Does anyone think this glitch will still be in place when the "real" B2G1F sale starts in 2 weeks? If so, that could theoretically mean you would be able to do get 2 $39.99 GT games and 1 new $39.99 game (which would come out free) for $40. Likewise for $49.99 games. If anyone has any insight please chime in. This could be HUGE!!!

From what I can gather, it seems this "glitch" is not much of concern to the higher-ups. My manager actually thought it was pretty cool and said to take advantage of it, when I mentioned it to him.

I know for a fact I'm picking up Ace Combat 5, but I'm torn between other $49.99 (GT and not) games. Socom 3? X-men Legends 2? Tony Hawk? YARGGHH!! :bomb:

Socom 3 is gonna be sick. Socom 2 was awesome, and not it has 32 players online total, and 6x big maps. GET IT! I have it on reserve at GR.

Thought i'd post this here as i'm sure it will affect alot of people. Sren9 posted this in the main TRU greentag thread...
Sorry guys-glitch will be fixed as of Friday morning.
Just to clarify sren9 works at TRU and has given us CAG the lowdown on TRU game lists and deals before anyone else, this news is pretty much garunteed true.

Can't say its too suprising seeing as how TRU would have lost their asses come the big B2G1Free deal.

They may still lose their asses...

My receipt, as of 12:38pm today:

Capcom Classics Collection (XB) $19.99
Galleon (XB) $9.97 ($19.95-$9.98)
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe (XB) $0.00 ($19.95-$19.95)

Total (before tax): $29.96

:D

I tried the green tagged thing today, it didn't work:
Tried Jak 3: 19.99
Van Hellsing: 19.99 -> 10.00
Syphon Filter:Omega Strain : 19.99 -> 10.00

I put it in the order I wanted him to ring it up in (Jak 3 last) and he rang in up in a different order. It came out to 30.00 instead of 20.00

:(

Stupid Toys R Us

glitch still works as of tonight, picked up syphon filter, rainbow six 3 and super mario sunshine for $20 total.
I tried the green tagged thing today, it didn't work:

Well, as usual TRU can not fix what is broken. Believe it or not our IT department can not fix the glitch without putting out another register fix. The company already has 2 scheduled for this week so....the glitch will be there for you to take advantage of....Odds are it will still be there at the end of the month as well...Check your local TRU this Sunday and next Sunday. More Green Tag being added. Metroid Prime Cube Bundle, any old PS2s, PS2 hard drive, PSOnes, and a few games also. Remember buy one get one free on board games this Sunday also. Most stores open early so call ahead.

Picked up Xenosaga II and Metal Slug 3-XB (both normally $39.96, but Green tagged to $19.96) and got Full Spectrum Warrior-XB for free!:D

Good deal, I didn't even think about going in there for any deals but I sure found got a good one!:)

The "glitch" still works as of Saturday morning here in Orem, UT.

Maximo: Ghosts to Glory (PS2 - $19.99 green tag)
Summoner 2 (PS2 - $19.99 green tag)
Super Monkey Ball Deluxe (PS2 - $19.95 - free game)

$20 for all 3 games.

Wait - are you saying this will work with green-tagged items that are originally over $19.99? I thought it didn't work that way? The games have to be $19.99 or less (in the case of green-tagged items. before the discount). Has anyone else done this?

The "glitch" worked perfectly for me this time. I had my girlfriend wait with the other game and she said, "hold on, add this too."

Summoner 2: 19.99 -> 10.00
Legacy of Kain: Defiance: 19.95 -> 9.98
Jak III 19.95 -> 0.00
Total = 19.96+tax

The guy did a double take on the screen but after that he didn't care.
Bottom of reciept says "YOU SAVED 39.93" lol

Thanks again everyone ;)

Prices Fixed. Sorry for confusion ;)

can also confirm the so called "glitch" still works...(and i will be looking forward to the buy2 get 1 on the expensive games)

got
Katarmari - $10
Ghosthunter - $10
and Xmen legends for free

katarmari - 10
carmen sandiego (gamecube) - 10
robots (gamecube) for free
