i am slowly but surely creeping back up to my original spot which was about 35. now when i get on at 11 i am 95th. it used to be in the 500s....

Seriously - how does that happen? What does the ranking system even mean? You'd think when you got all your entries in for the day, you'd stay at about your rank and not drop by several hundreds.

I refreshed and I'm at 84. If I have entered all 270 answers correctly, how could I be bumped down? Is someone later somehow more correct? :lol:

I don't think the ranking system means much anyway...I'm more concerned about the prizes in the end. ;)
 
we usually get them all in about 20 minutes. i'm central time. and i work in the morning so i should be off to bed... thanks for the answers tonight guys!

I'd guess that the ranking for the first day was based on time of entry. And the system remembers that, so the person who was first to answer questions 1-10 always gets moved up to #1 after they answer the current day's questions.

I thought something similar, but in the first few days, I was in the 40s through 60s for the most part, but then would rise and drop in really weird ways.

Now, as the contest goes on, you'd think that, as more people join in that didn't play in the beginning, I should go back to my original spot, but I don't. Some days, I'm still in the low 100s, some days in the 70s.

During the time frame I wrote my last post, My rank dropped 5 spots by the time I posted it. I just checked, and I am down to 264. I was in the top 50 3 hrs into the first day, but on 11/6, I was at 506 out of 8754.

Now, mind you, I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering what the ranking really means. It is more of a curiosity thing and I really don't think it means much anyway (And 264 out of nearly 44000 still isn't bad at all :lol: ). I'd be happy to be #22000 if it won a prize!
 
Hey Noir someone stated awhile ago on this thread like 20+ pages back a theory that I share(d). The point of rank is to make people competitive even if it means nothing (i.e. Halo 2, 3 any online game). What that does is create a buzz and heres the big part FREE PUBLICITY for the company/buisness. Thats why other companys will donate their stuff to a contest bacause in the long run, sales benefit and greatly compensate their "loses". Again thats just a theory. Who knows maybe rank 77777 at the end of this will get a booby/consolation prise. Either way worry about your number of entries, not an intangible meaningless ploy

I'm pretty sure rank doesn't matter. as long as you get your answers in you will get a entry into winning one of the prizes. I think people are just trying to get higher rank just to make themselves feel better :cool: I missed 2 days and i'm around the same rank as you; go figure.

ha, i just did the same thing. i was updating today's answers and noticed the same thing with my rank and realized what happened. maybe we slipped into the same crack in time? sucks, after being in it since day 1. oh well, guess i'll just have to hang out with the day 2'ers now. #-o

yeah ctrl-f does work but alot of sites the x's aren't even green. I was searching through the document and i seen expire so i tryed it and it worked :bouncy:lucky because there were a couple other words with x's in it.
 
yeah i know what you mean but x-s arent too common i got a lot of xboxs doin that and i knew it couldnt be so i tried taxes exclusive expulsion expiration then came upon expire o well nice find man the force is strong in this one and Goodnight

That is basically what i was thinking, as well - that is really doesn't mean anything, other than hype, or to give people something to shoot for.

But, for some reason, I'm "stuck" on it. By this, I mean obessing over it - not my rank, just to understand it and know what it means.

I'm probably not making any sense - I'm a bit too tired, I guess...
 
The way I see it is that were dealing with details from Microsoft, which is to say, normally none. I doubt you'll ever find or get the closure you want/need so there's no point worrying even if it is a little bit boggling.
