Deals on "The Mist" (2-disc)?
I think this is one of the best King adaptations and I really liked the ending, more King than the story version was. If you hated the ending of this movie, then never read any of King's short stories. Survival is not the norm.
I've read everything King has written. Shawshank Redemption and Stand By were both incredible. Basically he writes 2 kinds of books depending on his mood. One type is where everyone bites the dust and the other is where almost everyone bites the dust. But at least when they die their deaths fit the story.

I can't wait for Abrams to do the Dark Tower books. That really should be a fun ride.
Most horrible ending ever conceived....EVER! :bomb:

This movie officially killed my love for Frank Darabont.

In fact I hate this movie so much I'm gonna give away the ending so people don't have to waste one thin dime on this dreck.

Here it is:

THE GROUP OF ESCAPEES FROM THE TOWN RUN OUT OF GAS AND THEN WITH EVERYONES CONSENT THE FATHER KILLS EVERYONE IN THE CAR INCLUDING HIS SON, BECAUSE AFTER GOING THROUGH ALL THIS SHIT THEY DECIDE THAT THEY CAN'T GO ON ANYMORE???? (QUINTUPAL WTF MOMENT!). HE CAN'T KILL HIMSELF BECAUSE HE RUNS OUT OF BULLETS. AFTER THIS HAPPENS HE HEARS LOUD NOISES, THE MIST CLEARS, HE SEES SOLDIERS CLEARING AWAY THE MIST....HE IS RESCUED AND IN AGONY HE SCREAMS AT THE CAMERA FOR KILLING HIS OWN SON. THE END.

This movie redefined suckage.
I LOVED the ending. Man, so few movies that punch you in the stomach like that. Basically as stated before the story left kind of on an inconclusive manner as well and the ending fit perfectly with the whole theme of the movie. If
Everyone had been rescued and it ended with everyone fine and okay. Then we would bitch it being a typical Hollywood ending

So yes, I loved it. Say I'm morbid or whatever else, but the ending made me turn to my friend and say "That was friggin awesome."

Don't get me wrong. I hate happy crappy Hollywood fare. My biggest beef was
that the characters motivations and personalities didn't at all jive with the final outcome. The audience is given rugged survivalists who go through tons of shit and then they just give up and kill themselves. I found it horribly morbid and fundamentally against the human drive to survive. If they went down with a fight I could understand but to totally give up? I do understand the poster who stated that it could be viewed as a lesson to never give up but Shawshank Redemption (best.movie.ever.) did that far better and far more optimistically.

Can't wait to get it on BD now. Should be out sometime fall. If anybody wants to wait a few months, wait for it. Should be out in BD soon.
With the Blu-ray version, is it including the B&W version of the movie from Disc 2?
Not crucial for me. All TV's do B&W.

One thing I read said that the blu ray release will be similar to the deluxe dvd release in that the 2nd disc blu ray disc will contain the black and white version of the film.

From HighDefDigest:

"Directed by Frank Darabont and based on a classic short story by Stephen King, 'The Mist' will come to Blu-ray in a two-disc set with a host of bonus features that replicate the acclaimed DVD edition (which the Weinstein Co. first issued last March). Among the extensive extras are audio commentary with Darabont, multiple making-of featurettes, deleted scenes, a series of behind-the-scenes Web-i-sodes, and theatrical trailers.

Tech specs include both the original theatrical feature and a unique "black and white" version, each getting their own disc, presented in 1080 video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio.

Suggested retail price for 'The Mist' has been set at $34.98."
