Well, since Death Jr. is coming out in a few weeks, and is the only PSP title the entire month (Namco Colection shows August 9th but I think its incorrect), maybe we should discuss it?

So far EGM rated it an average of a 4.0/10 and PSM gave it a 7.5.

I did play this for a short time at SDCC and it was pretty fun, but the screen was very dark.

Don't forget, if you plan on buying this, if you pre-order it from EB or GameStop you get a bunch of cool extras. Slip Cover, 2 UMD Covers, Mini Soundtrack (.mp3 files), and digital Comic Book.

It's an adventure game, right?

I'll probably buy it, I like adventure games more than anything (even FPS).

I don't trust reviewers anymore, despite what they unanimously said "Mario vs DK" sucked ass and "Coded Arms" rocks.
 
Coded Arms sucked...plain and simple. It was an FPS Rengoku. This game looks like it will actually make some people BUY PSP Games since there hasn't been a decent release in months.
 
This is the one of the games I bought a PSP for. I have it reserved at Gamestop and can't wait for the release. It looks really fun from all the previews and video clips. It is really the first true platformer for PSP.

i bought my psp maily for this as well. i preordered it last night at eb. we'll see soon enough if it needs an update to run. if so, i might hold off for a little while. at least i will have the comic and music for the psp, i think that is one of the coolest incentives i have heard of for a preorder.
 
I won't update my PSP to play this game, simple as that. This is the ONLY game this year I plan to play on my PSP (besides maybe Medevil) and I'd rather play my homebrew instead. However, if this does not have a forced update I will for sure be getting it.

The extras are awesome, and the best part, it will not be any more $ then the regular version!
 
yeah, defiently wont update to play this even though i had it preordered since like the day it was listed at ebagmes.com. i really hope there is no forced update. really want to play it but not as much as my homebrew stuff.
 
Funny, it was the first PSP game the world ever saw, but it wasn't a launch title, and it looks like it sucks. RIP, Death Jr.

whered that come from? looks pretty damn good to me. one of the best the psp hase to offer for a while, imo.

i hope people arent basing opinions on egm, seems like they dont like the psp for some reason.

For a reason? Some of the games such, just like the DS. They gave Wipeout and Ridge Racers a 9, while only Kirby I beleive has acheived that score on the DS.
 
hey, tried the smashgp game, its pretty cool, i grab the wolverine add on. i just wish i had a bigger mem stick. i've pushed this 32 meg one pretty far. i only got lik 4 megs left on it.
 
There will be two release, one the Limited Edition, one the Regular. I can almost guarantee if you pre-order from EB/Gamestop you will receive the LE. If you do not, you may get lucky, but most likley will get a regular edition. I for one will be pre-ordering as this is not just some 'lame' LE, but a very cool one. I always wished the PSP games wold come with little slipcovers like most DVD do.
 
a LE edition that actually is worth pre-ordering and :shock:, might actually be limited edition. finally, bring some japanese style marketing. of course, this being america, limited edition probably means huge production run. what suckers, us americans are over carefully selected semantics.
 
I'm very impressed that we're getting a Japanese-style game LE, so it's a good thing I don't own a PSP or I'd probably think about buying it.
 
i was told that the LE is *only* available for preorder. the guy told me "if you walk in her on release day, you'll get a regular edition."

maybe bs, but there you go.

Agreed... also because the majority of PSP games that have hit after launch have been less than stellar (MC 3, Coded Arms, Dead to Rights).

What if they don't get enough preorders? Do they throw away the bonus stuff?

And does all that stuff come seperate, or is the UMD case bigger?

Well... wasn't Jade Empire LE supposed to be only for a limited time? I remember hearing from a few employees that "you had better preorder this, since you'll come in and we'll only have the regular version" and stores got flooded with LE copies.

I'm pretty sure if you go in the day the game comes out, they'll have a few LE's they can sell you.

I hope so - I've had it on preorder from GR for a long time. It comes out on my birthday so it better come with the extra stuff! I'd ask next time I'm in there but I'm sure they won't know either way.

I don't really get how this game could get such bad reviews from EGM (I haven't seen the reviews yet myself). Weren't they part of the hype for this game from way back before the PSP came out? Everything I've heard pre-release about this game has been good so it would be a bit shocking if it was truly 4/10 bad...

Jade Empire LE = X-BOX
Death Jr LE = PSP

If they DO have extras, sure, they will sell them to the public. But what are the chances? This is the first time a handheld game has ever received an LE, Its most likley going to be testing the waters to see how well a LE can sell.

If you don't want to put down $5 and would rather take a chance, go ahead. Its $5 fucking dollars, but I know how some of you HATE having gamestops earn 'interest' on your hard earned $5 :roll:
 
i usually pay everything up front, screw the 5 bucks. i ordered online but when i order through gamecrazy i put the money as credit on the account then they deduct that for the pre order and i dont get charge tax. i think its better that way.

Reviewers give reviews, non-reviewers give opinions. Don't agree with reviewers or their reviews, fine, but don't act like your lone take on an excellent GBA game and sub-par PSP FPS somehow discredit reviewers who have said different.

I doubt Djr will do anything BUT tank. Unless IGN, or GS proclaims the PSP game to get, I'll wait. $5 will kill me, especially if it's towards a game that have a good chance at being around that much a year or 2 from now. Like I said, unless I here glorious GOW-like praise, I'm going to have to pass.

Reviews are opinions too, FYI.

EGM is in fact not a good place to go when deciding what game to buy.

They will trash good games and put shit on pedistals if the right people buy enough ads.

Wow, I make a post a while back and literally everyone flames me for making a decision based on the reviews, but now people here are deciding not to buy a game because of an EGM review and that's cool.

That's because it's a PSP game, right? They all suck anyway.

Some info in Firmware 2.0 (incase some people were wondering if Death Jr would include it).

"Sony mentioned that the 2.0 update will be made available (and, by that, will be required) in select PSP games released this fall."

Hopefully Death Jr. will escape this firmware update as it is the only PSP game I plan on getting.

Thinking more into it, since the 'official' release is August 12th and Death Jr arrives on the 16th, its doubtful any firmware updates will be in place except for the standard 1.5 that came with Midnight Club/Dead to Rights.

Anyways, pre-ordered and paid off my copy at GS today!

I WAS HYPE ABOUT THIS GAME... planning to pick it up along with my white PSP... but I just saw the review on the OPM today & it stinked bad... 2 1/2 outta 5...

fuck reviews. I'm grabbing it because it reminds me of psychnaunts and the cahrcters seem really cool plus you could probably sell off the extras for like 20 bucks. if there is one thingh i learned is that many extras that come free are worth quite a bit. for example i bought shadow hearts: covenant. It came with the original which was once worth 65 bucks on ebay. i bought xenosaga 2. It came with a dvd with the cut scenes for part 1. It goes for more than 20 on ebay. sold mine for like 10 here, before i noticed how much it was going for on ebay.I'm guessing the stuff will go for at least 15 if i dont like this game. If i do it would be one of the best buys ive done for a new game.
