I'm hoping this game forms some type of community, I'd hate for it to die within a few weeks of its release. Hopefully the reviews aren't too negative.
I'm not, because I'm not black.
I'm not black either, but the game has me interested... your point?

damn freekyzeeky, good post!

I want it but going to wait for a drop. I got 5 on it is such a awesome song! I used to live by that song 10 years ago, lol. That and notorious thugs with biggie and bone thugs which was an even better song.

Konami believes that this game will be a huge success, and that they would have DLC released for this game every week.
Let's just hope this game sells better, than say... Rock Revolution.

EDIT: Actually, it was 4mm Games, the developer of the game, who said that. Konami is merely publishing the game.

LOL if it sells 5 copies it will do that no problem.

Shit, I hope it's not like Rock Revolution, haha, I don't care if it's a huge community, just as long as it gets some form of dedicated one, that'd be cool.

By the way, if anyone wants to add me, my PSN is gettinmoney662. I'll be getting the game a few days after release depending on how fast Amazon ships.

I'm excited for this, but not sure how soon I'll buy it since I don't have time. BUT, I would like to buy it new to show some support.

Here's some DLC tracks that are being offered for preordering:

Gamestop

 • I’m So Hoodby DJ Khaled featuring T-Pain, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Big Boi, Lil’ Wayne, Birdman, Fat Joe and Rick Ross
 • Paid in Full by Eric B. and Rakim
 • Bad Boy For Life by Puff Daddy
Amazon

 • I Got 5 On It by Luniz
 • Passin Me By by The Pharcyde
 • Rapper's Delight by The Sugar Hill Gang
I'm waiting first to hear some reviews, and to see if Komani will support the game with DLC, if any... The tracklist is pretty decent for the most part.

Cool post!

I like a ton of those songs. Nice blend of really commercial songs to more lyrical and or 'gully' songs.
Anyone know if this will have the videos a la Singstar or will this be more like Get on Da mic?
I think the developers actually said that they used the 'Get On Da Mic' game as the blueprint for how NOT to make a rap music game.

As for community videos, I have no idea at the moment... I would imagine it'll be something like the way SingStar handles their user-made videos. I think you might even be able to see those videos in the Official Rapstar website.

If you're asking if it'll have real music videos, it looks like they use 'em. ;)

I saw this video on YouTube where you use your phone for something. I don't know if it's just for watchin videos or if they're releasing an app, but I saw a guy get an invite to a battle on his phone, so that's pretty cool too.

Amazon hands down (The Pharcyde and Sugar Hill Gang...+1). More than likely Paid in Full will be DLC (rather pay for 1 track than 2). Game looks promising, but like others I have my doubts. With the exception of LIPS and SS (even thought the DLC for the U.S. is horrible), these things come and go..as well as their support).

What is the final ESRB rating? Will it contain only "radio versions" of the songs or the originals, will there be an option for both, etc. Rated "T" for "Teen" doesn't tell me much.

Neither are the 70% of people who buy Hip Hop albums worldwide.

Get your facts straight before you go running off at the mouth.

I read somewhere ( I think Destructoid ) that because they are using the music videos for the songs, the lyrics are censored but you aren't penalized for speaking during edited words.

That's great. I was actually wondering if we were allowed to use curse words... Rapping without cursing would ruin to flow of those songs, for me anyway. ;)

Ditto! But it's cool they won't penalize you. I've got some Amazon credit to burn until COD:BO, so I might grab this. There isn't a lot of Hip Hop songs in SS nor LIPS (to the dismay of my drunken guests), so this would be a welcome addition.

Game's out today! :D
Did anyone end up getting it? I'd like to hear some impressions, since reviews for the game don't seem to be up anywhere for some odd reason... :whistle2:k

It's coming in the mail today so I'll let you know how it is.

Oh nice, I was just browsing the website and it looks like you can rate videos from there, might make getting those related trophies a little easier if votes from people who don't have the game count.

Okay, I played through the first "stage" of the career so I can tell you a little about that. The overall presentation is pretty barebones. I haven't played SingStar so I don't know if it's the same, but when you choose career, you basically go straight to the videos. The backgrounds and videos aren't in HD so the graphics aren't that great, but I don't really care.

As for the gameplay, I like it. It was fun rapping along to the songs while watching the videos. I was able to five mic "Put On" on my first try, wooo. They also have challenges like getting a certain score to unlock a song and rap targets where you try to hit a certain amount of words in a verse in a row.

I haven't played with the other modes yet, but this game really is only for people who love mainstream rap music. It's almost all I listen to so I'm loving it so far.

Have you had a chance to do try out 'Slow Jamz' by Twista? I think of all the songs this game has, Twista's raps must be pretty hard for most people to pull off. His flow is ridiculous!

How's the mic? Is it like those mics that come with Rock Band? Also, how do you find the voice recognition?

Haha, nah, not yet, I've only done the first stage of songs which has We Fly High, Push It, Put On, It Was A Good Day, It's Goin Down, the Soulja Boy song, and a couple others.

The mic seems all right to me so far, it was picking up my vocals well and it looked like the software to register the vocals was working properly as well. I don't know for sure yet since I only played for an hour or so, although when I did stumble on some words or mess up, it definitely showed so I don't think you can just mumble whatever you want.

I'm definitely interested in this... strikes me as more of a GameFly-title though, unless it's awesomer than I imagine and/or the DLC makes it worth keeping.

I'm in.
Can we call our selves the "Cheap a$$ Rappers"? We rap, wear fake bling bling and fuck cheap whores?
I gotta get the game first though.

We can do all that except wear fake bling, I don't wear fake stuff, but I'm all about the cheap hos.

I uploaded a couple of videos if you guys wanna see them. From the website, my user name is JayRemedy.

oops, I meant to say hos...really.
I'm gonna start looking for deals for this game. Is there a freestyle option? are there battles? how is it done?

I already have the game and played it. So far it rocks. Timing works pretty good. I'm playing on Easy and it doesn't seem all that hard, but some songs give me some trouble. The censoring does suck, but I understand it.

Anyone who loves hip hop, BUY the game.
oops, I meant to say hos...really.

Yeah, they give you beats from producers like Just Blaze, DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, and others, or you can just do it acappella. There's also a battle option for local, they haven't started it through the community yet but that's supposed to come.

I'm playing on hard and the only thing that really messes me up is when it asks for pitch, like on the Gin and Juice chorus, I can never get it right.

Now that this game has been out for almost a month...do the people who own this game consider this worth getting because I am absolutely on the fence about picking this up. Is it worth the full price since I have not seen this game really drop in price yet. I love hip hop and know at least 85% of the songs so setlist is not holding me back. Besides the career mode and messing around w/ friends, does the online features/community help extend the life of the game?

it's old news by now i'm sure but they added more songs to the XBL than they did to PSN that first week. That might be what Mana was talking about.

So gameplaywise it's more than singstar i take it. You have to unlock songs? that might explain why so many of those songs in the list weren't at the Sony demo booth last month.

P.S. i just thought greek was making a joke not being seriously snide.

Not just first week, continuously. XBL continues to get more/better songs than PSN. It's stupid because PSN even gets some songs XBL doesn't. IMO, this is the developers worse mistake would could lead this game to death.

that's terrible news. just terrible terrible news. it can't be a rights thing. I can't imagine why on earth this is happening and as you say it's only going to hurt the game.

I really don't understand why they don't sell a game only version in our blockbuster. You know how many singstar games there are? I see mic bundles in every store I've ever looked. if I was remotely interested in this genre the one thing I have is mics.

All the developers ever said about XBL getting more songs then PSN is because the approval process is different from XBL...so apparently its taking longer to show up on the PSN Store (assuming it ever does) lol
