Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

When i said gatekeeper i meant the templar boss fight. Already beat atheon with my hunter so i just want the templar and gorgon chest rewards. Plus i wont need 6 people to get those. Anyone have that checkpoint?

About to start Weekly on lvl 28.  Message me thru PSN if you want to join.  PS3 = WiiDaLoser

EDIT: is Destinylfg working for anyone.  Won't even load for me

So I finally have the coins...is Suros Regime worth it? Currently using the exotic Midi Multi Tool, have bounties for Bad Juju and the exotic Shotgun...I like using Dr. Nope in PvP just for the rate of fire. ugh, I can't decide. (not getting the armamantarium because I got the other Titan exotic chest from Motes last week.) this will make me crazy all weekend.

Yet another exotic bounty abandonded. Bungie... I am NOT pulling my hair out in pv p for anything you can offer me. Let the pros play their stupid deathmatches.

I have 3 exotic weapon bounties active. Is that crazy? (just picked up the 3rd this morning) Bad Juju, Invective and Thorn. Which, if any, should I drop? What are the chances of them popping up again?

I get those three all the time. Since i already have those done, i abandon them after i pick one. I think the best gun out of the three is the invective, but thats mainly a pvp weapon. I never use a shotgun in pve. Thorn is cool, but since i got the hawkmoon exotic i have put the thorn on the side, it just doesnt compare to the hawkmoon. Bad Juju is okay, i still need to upgrade it to really get a good idea of how good it is. But early on, if you dont have the upgrade to automatically reload after a kill, it feels like you have to reload after 3 shots. It gets annoying.

Which bounty? I consider myself somewhat terrible in PVP and I still hammered out the Invective PVP requirements in 5 matches or so. It seems like only Thorn's requirements would be really difficult.

I have 2 of the 3 bounties at the Crucible portion. Once I get 500 'whatevers' on the moon, that will make all 3 at PvP stage. Hopefully I can get some kills and stuff to stack to hopefully get thru them faster.  And yet I still kinda want to buy the Suros from Xur. This game...

I thought it only went up to 27 light.
They're making some changes. New gear with light level 30 but you can only equip three at once. (Which is fine if you have any exotics of course.) Plus more options for weapons. They're also tweaking the way xp works making it easier to attain and also making the bounties easier to complete. Plus other changes like supposedly making the level difference matter more and not letting level 1-19 characters join unless they're in a fireteam with a 20+ leader. It's all in the weekly update.

Basically, you might finally get you some light level 30 boots. :p

I have completed every exotic weapon bounty and while I didn't really think any of them were that hard they were time consuming and for the most part not really worth it. I hardly ever use any of them.

That's it? They had the same bounty for the Iron Banner: 10,000 earned. I'm not even very good, and I accomplished that in 3-4 rounds of Iron Banner Control.
It's not the same. The bounty he is talking about gives you 75 points for killing or assisting on a warlock and 25 for killing or assisting on a titan or hunter. I'm pretty good at pvp, but that part still took me a decent amount of time and it's not even the worst part of the bounty in my opinion. You have to run the weekly heroic or nightfall plus 25 more strikes in the earlier stages. It was a super boring and time consuming process for a pretty disappointing gun.

Man this game took me on a rollercoaster of emotions last night.

Get a Weekly 28 match from DestinyLFG done in order to get the 9 coins. Head over to Xur and buy Suros Regime... AWEsome !

Next, go to the Cosmodrome for my 1st Public Event of the day. Decide to farm glimmer while I'm waiting for the Walker to trigger and get a purple engram drop from a lowly Dreg. Eventually turns into Ice breaker... AWE-Some+1 !!!

Finish off the Walker and find another purple engram for boots. This is perfect since I need legendary boots for my alt titan. Wouldn't you know, the damn thing turns into a mote of light... :shame:

But that's OK, still feeling good vibes from Suros & Ice Breaker. I try my luck again with D-LFG and find a raid group posted by a lvl28. I'm thinking they're a bunch of 27-28 guys who just need a 6th man, so I don't bother to get all my gear from my main and use my alt titan.

Well, it turns out the 28 and I were the ONLY high levels; everyone else was a 25... SMH. What's worse... I'm the guy with the most raid experience. No one else had ever gotten past the oracles. But surprisingly, we made it all the way to the Atheon gatekeepers where we failed trying to get the 2nd relic. Eventually had people leave and that was the end of that...

Quite the learning experience when you're unofficially the leader of the raid group. At least I learned how to use the relic and I now know the paths thru the Gorgon maze, both to the chest and the exit.

Anyone have a atheon checkpoint on hard? Completed the normal one with afrostyONE (thanks heaps dude) already btw
Thanks for the invite.

Needed that after the VoG run I had earlier in the night.

BTW, don't know about you but I never noticed any lag issues considering how far apart we are located.

Invective was the easiest for me, but most painful because of all the ammo packs you buy (what a waste, ugh). Bad Juju was the most time consuming. Thorn I haven't finished and probably never will because I don't think the gun is worth my time.

So far, Invective is the only one that's proven it's worth. My problem is that I'd rather keep Ice Breaker equipped, so Invective only gets levelled up when I'm turning in bounties.

+1

Not happy with the gun as it is and now that I've got Suros Regime and Atheons Epilogue to choose from, I'll most likely never bother upgrading Bad Juju

Ah, I see. That's very different. I wouldn't know from experience, however. At Level 28 as a Titan with about 70 hours played according to the app, I have never received an Exotic bounty.

I have done all the bounties except the one for the machine gun which i dont think i ever got a choice of. Though i keep getting the same damn three i already did.

So does anyone want to do a normal raid tonight? My hunter really wants any kind of raid gear! Ive been trying to get the templar checkpoint, but at this point i mise well do the whole damn raid with my hunter since i cant find that checkpoint.

Hey guys, I really need some help. I'm a level 22 and need some better gear. Looking to get some more strange coins. I have both PS3 and PS4 versions. Right now I'm on the PS4. PSN: robsAgeek. Thanks in advance

Not sure if you'll get this in time, but I'll be on my PS4 at 11 and I'm trying to get through a level 22 weekly to get a couple of strange coins for Xur's Hunter Armor. If you're still looking, or if any CAG is interested, my psn is the same as my name here, kitsunisan. I'm a level 24 hunter, maxed out bladedancer, and trying to boost up my light.

Finally got a checkpoint at the templar on hard for my hunter and ended up getting nothing but that damn sniper, energy, and shards from beating the templar, and 2 gorgon chests. -_- So far my hunter has 0 raid gear, not even a class item. Kind of sucks. Oh well.

On the plus side, now i have my warlock and titan at 29, both only needing raid boots to get to 30. So id love to do the raid on hard with these characters if anyone does it on that level, starting next week. Nothing to gain in the raid this week anymore.

Got Vex and Atheon's Epilogue thanks to 7th. Add that to the Fatebringer I got earlier in the week and it's been a decent week for me. I didn't have any of the raid weps coming into the week, so I'm pretty happy right now. Still have hard gatekeeper and atheon left on my hunter too.

Most games you level up and get better weapons to get through the next area and beat the next boss.  Eventually you get really powerful and finish the game.  In this game it seems like you have to grind for many hours just to get gear so you can go to the next level and grind for hours to get gear.  The goal of grinding for hours seems to be the ability to grind for hours in the next place.  You get gear simply to go to the next place and get gear.  Something like Dragon Age which comes out soon will require gear upgrades but there are goals in it other than simply getting more gear.  I really don't understand the appeal of these MMO's.  I played WoW for a full year to try to experience the game and see what everyone was talking about and I never actually felt like I was having "fun" so I quit.  Do people like these games because they appeal to their OCD collector mentality?

Is 28 a high enough level to try hard raid 7th? I got the raid boots last time for my hunter and have them almost maxed out so I might get to 29 if the first couple of parts give me shards.

I think you should have a primary weapon maxed to 300. But you are going to want to get to 29 before going in the hard raid. Ive played with all 29s and we still had a hard time getting past the part where you have to defend the pillars. When you get to the last area i think all enemies are 30s. So a 28 would be a bit of a handicap in that area.

OK! Bad Juju and Invective exotic weapon bounties finished. Thorn bounty dropped. Pocket Infinity bounty acquired.

I'm going to need to do the Raid to get higher than level 27, aren't I? (might have to send the wife and kids away for a weekend for that to ever happen.)

Not necessarily. Regular legendaries and one exotic can get you to level 29. Basic rule of thumb is that rares can get you to 24 Each legendary can get you one level higher, and the exotic can take you 2 levels (assuming it's not your first above-blue piece).

Raids can easily take less than 2 hours, btw, if you go with an experienced group.

Mwahaha... I was able to eek out enough coins to buy a 2nd Armamentarium for my other titan. Between Armamentarium and Ice Breaker, my Titans are gonna be rollin' HARD :twoguns: .

Now if I can just get some raid gear, I'll be able to pass those legendaries over to my alt.

Speaking of which, my main hasn't done the raid yet, so let me know if you're starting one up before the weekly reset. My alt is missing the gatekeepers loot, so I'd appreciate any help there too.

For now, gonna be leveling up my new toys. :D

Damn, I need Pocket Infinity. I'm sitting on 12 rare fusion rifles

I'm going to be running hard mode raid on my 29 warlock and likely cheesing from Oracles checkpoint to gatekeepers and subsequently Atheon on Tuesday if anyone wants to join.

Also, to become a true cheese:

Voidfang Vestments w/2 Grenade perk.  Set solar grenades.  Throw 2 grenades at templar.  Switch grenade type, switch grenade type back.  Your grenades will regen instantly.  Have fun killing the templar in under 2 minutes.

Also nice for Atheon, no need to wait for grenades to regen.

Interested... 29 Sunbro here. What time on Tues?

I just need one more piece (legs) for 30 and would like to knock out hard and normal in one run.

QFE.

The Conflux part is the most difficult and being 28 you are doing far less damage and taking more damage than even your 29 counterparts. Then at the end 7th is right that the enemies are all 30. Being that outleveled means you will be likely one shotted from the Hobgoblins and even the normal goblins will be a pain to take out.

Raids can easily take less than 2 hours, btw, if you go with an experienced group.
My group has been able to run Raid Virgins in about an hour. If you go in with an experienced group and you are competent and can listen to what they tell you to do then you really shouldnt be looking at a crazy time investment

Id love to join but tuesdays i usually do the raid with my normal crew. If i can fit both in id love to do that. We usually dont start our raid until about 10:30 ET, so if we can get the hard mode done before that id be down to help.

I will probably be able to be 29 after the weekly reset if I get shards from nightfall and weekly 28...if not I'll be looking to do regular raid again I suppose.

I started a second character and got up to 12 in 5hrs. Hopefully already having some legendary and exotic items for a Titan will mean I can get up to the high 20s pretty fast.

according to this, you don't even need to switch the grenades for the exploit, is there something you can switch to make your self less vulnerable while switching something?

This always had me wondering... I'm just touching lvl 29, with only one upgrade available which I haven't done. And I haven't done it since I thought the damage I dish out remains static throughout all of 29 until I hit 30. My damage resistance would increase by so little that I don't really see the point to spending the shards. Or is there some other value to maxing out the last bit of my legendary helm.

The problem with switching anything ever in Destiny is that you are constantly at the mercy of their servers (and your connection) because of the way that the inventory is implemented.

I tried a quick search but couldnt find specific numbers right now since work is pretty busy but I am sure with some searching you can find a more detailed analysis.

But basically the lower the light level you are, the higher the damage penalty you have against enemies at levels higher than you. The closer you rise to that level, the less the damage penalty is. So once you are level 30, you are not facing any damage penalties in the Hard Raid and are doing direct damage without any hindrance of that kind.

I believe the same is said for damage taken as well but that I am not 100% on.

Oh for anyone interested in the run, it will be starting at 5AM EST, the time of the reset.  This is because my alts have the Oracle checkpoints and I'll be doing the weekly reset trick to maintain the checkpoints.

I'll be running it 3 times throughout the day though.  All I ask is that you are preferably a 29 with an Ice Breaker to murder some Oracles.  If the group is legit, we will kill the gatekeeper and cruise right in to Atheon.  I'll be running this with my 27 alts to and willing to cheese for you in return for some cheese for me to carry each others lower levels.

It should be a loot extravaganza.  Hopefully this patch never comes!

We also might just preserve the checkpoints and sleep it off until later, not sure yet.

So it's more like graded penalties... see, I kept thinking it was static. In other words, the damage penalty would stay the same throughout ALL of lvl 29 when facing lvl 30 enemies

Interesting, but I would rather switch grenade types than switch off fireborn. If I die while in the menu I would like to res myself.

You can't really make yourself less vulnerable other than hiding. While doing templar, this isnt a problem since while cheesing the entire team is in one spot, largely unaffected by any of the ads or templar.

Another interesting note:

If you are a Sunbro who has decided to take a nap, before resurrecting yourself if you go into the menu and switch off fireborn- exit the menu. You can still press L1R1 to revive, but there will be no super activating animation and you won't be in radiance. You will still have a fully charged super and be alive again, allowing for you to seek cover and turn fireborn back on if you want another mulligan. So broken! Pretty classy on hard mode to say the least. Works in good combination with Apotheosis Veil, so that you res yourself, seek cover, and activate super and regen if absolutely needed.

Yeah not going to be awake around that time. But if you hang onto the checkpoints maybe you can give it to me. I can help cheese templar and atheon by myself if needed, assuming they dont patch it before then.

Im Hawaii time so it's only 11PM when it is 5AM EST, but I'm sure we can link up at some point.
