Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

Saw 2 Monte Carlo's drop in the first 3 games of clash I played just now. I have easily seen a dozen drop since the expansion hit, but I still can't get one to drop for me.

Oh man, the Crota fight is sooo messed up right now.

Got into a hard run last night with a bunch of guys who could sleep-walk thru the fight.

These guys are pretty much automatic in the fight and would try different strategies just to keep things fresh.

Well... we get in and can't get past the 3rd sword.

At first the problem was Crota NOT cooperating with the 2nd knee drop.  Then we had issues with the swordbearer NOT coming out after ogres.

Eventually the game kicks me to the title screen.  Try to log back in and I get the initial start-up screen... for Character Creation?!?!?!  Quit out and try again, & again, & again until I can actually get in.

Go do the daily real quick and log off (before the game tries to kick me again).

Things have been sooo messed up since this last patch.  I'm even getting nat issues with players whom I've NEVER had problems before.

Can't wait to see what happens during the next Iron Banner.  That's gonna be fun

When do you guys from Dance Guardian Dance typically raid? I am on Pacific time and probably won't be available tomorrow until 5 P.M. Pacific/7 P.M. Eastern.

Also looking to play Iron Banner, although I usually just wait until the last few days to play the bulk of the games "in the buff", so to speak. ;-)

I'm going to be doing s ton of rumble this week while all the better people are playing iron banner. I'm not bad at rumble, but I'm even better when iron banner comes around.

Haha, yeah.

I did a couple of my thorn bounties in regular crucible, while everyone else was in Iron Banner.

Got them done real quick that way. :)

I did hard mode Crota for the first time in several weeks this week (on Xbox One). Overall it seemed better than before. There was no disappearing sword or Crota kneeldown issues. However, there is definitely one new glitch. Enrage now sometimes happens not too long after Ogres while you are waiting for Crota to rotate back mid. That glitch sucks because you are nearly done at that point and to have it glitch there is frustrating. I'd rather have the first sword disappear.

Hmmmm... Interesting idea. I've been waiting for Iron Banner to finish off my Thorn bounty. I've worked on it during the last 2 Iron Banners and have it up to 352/500. I finally settled on a Voidwalker build with Vex Mythoclast and Corrective Measure. I have a void secondary too but I never have time to switch to it in the heat of combat. If I'm up close I'd rather finish them off with Vex or use my melee. And I can't line up sniper shots in PvP without getting killed before I can even find the other guy. But with Vex as my primary I can usually stay alive and then get kills with my grenades or Corrective Measure. I have a new void Jolden's Hammer to try out this time too. Oh yeah, I tried using Atheon's Epilogue as my primary and just got slaughtered. I'd rather have Vex as my "backup" since I can usually save myself with that as opposed to giving up a death while trying in vain for the void primary kill.

But it never occurred to me to do regular Crucible during IB. I guess I figured since I'm 32 I have a slight advantage against most players (since most seem to be 31) whereas I'd lose that in Crucible. I also want to play as little PvP as possible and I figured I might as well work on the IB bounties while doing Thorn. On the other hand, I have a hard time getting IB bounties done while trying to be careful not to die. If I could rush in and melee people without worrying about it, for example, I'd get the melee bounty done real quick every day. As it was I think I only got it done once all week last time.

If I can knock out my Thorn bounty on regular Crucible I could do IB with my Titan or Hunter, neither of whom has much if any PvP experience. I wouldn't mind maxing out the marks for HoW. But first I want to see if I can do the rank glitch at reset to buy the helm first. I failed last time but I wasn't waiting in orbit which I guess is the trick.

Taking a sabbatical from this game until May 1st when my new internet is installed, just couldn't stand to more of the daily heroics or grinding in of missions

May just log in for Nightfalls once a week until HoW comes out

Anyone looking for a team player, add me
Level 31 Hunter
Level 30 Titan
Level 29 Warlock

Shit, Iron Banner isn't live yet? I was hoping for some easy games this morning and I got thrown in with the typical rumble crowd. Only won one bore I had to go to start working.

Iron banner starts at 1:00 PM EST and 10:00 AM PT. I think they changed it so people couldn't carry over their Iron Banner Levels from previous weeks.

Sweet, I did manage to finally get this to happen for me:

That officially makes the last medal I care about getting, so it's cool to have that done with.

I used AE during IB when I did mine but it was before they nerfed auto rifles and I pretty much gave up on doing another thorn bounty after that. I was able to knock it out during one IB at the time. Now it would take forever!

Has anyone tried the Word of Crota?

Maybe an upgraded AE after HOW drops will be more effective?

I did the PvP part of the Thorn bounty a few weeks ago using Word of Crota, Praedyth's Revenge, and Truth on my Titan as a defender. I played Control and got it done in 10 games. Word of Crota made it much easier than it was the first time I did it. It's still outclassed by most weapons you'll go up against, but I actually felt like it was close enough that I could win most fights by being smarter and more skilled than my opponents.

10 games... Heh... I've probably done at least 50 games since I've started it and I'm at 352/500. I tried Word of Crota but I can usually only get 1 or 2 shots off before someone wipes me out. So I have to stick with Vex as my primary which slows me down but at least keeps me going positive as opposed to what happened when I tried AE or Word when I went backwards on the bounty.

Sounds like my first attempt at the Thorn bounty. Only legendary void weapon at the time was AE and I quickly learned how bad that was, ugh.

If I was able to survive the first encounter, I'd just get mowed down by other players. Those purple bullets were a light-trail right back to me  .

So I switched it up and went with a void shotty, not a very good one either (horrible range), blue, but like I said it was void.

Then I went camping... stuck to corridors and corners. That plus my Defender titans melee and sticky 'nades pulled me through.

Still equipped AE, but that was more to cover my butt moving from area to area.

Didn't attempt another Thorn bounty 'til after the crota dlc dropped. Wasn't planning to do it either; even went thru the trouble of upgrading my old Thorn with Xur since I didn't want to go thru that again.

But the Thorn buff changed my mind. This time I ran it with the Secret Handshake shotty, with autofire.

I had a better feel for the maps, a decent shotgun, compared to my first and I got the clever idea of running pvp in regular crucible while Iron Banner was active. Got the bounty done in no time

Still equipped AE, but also had Truth and Corrective Measure as my heavy options. Also used No Backup Plans armor and camped control points while in my bubble... melee the 1st guy for overshield then shotty the rest in the face (this isn't quite as effective nowadays, well maybe against kinder-guardians it is  ).

My 3rd thorn was done on my Warlock. Voidwalker is no joke... this was the easiest one for me to complete.

Yeah I got a ton of kills with the sticky nades and the spike grenade was amazing for me on Firebase Delphi. I ran Armamentarium and I would just lob 2 of those onto the wall at B when the other team was trying to cap it and watch the kills pop up from outside. I ended up getting a ton of kills doing that during the 2 rounds I played on that map. When I wasn't doing that I was playing a little bit campy and only really being aggressive when I had rockets or teammates close by. I think I got pretty lucky with the lobby I was in for most of it, but I also think that if you play smart and make the most of your void abilities it's not that bad on a Warlock or Titan.

The first time I did the Thorn bounty I was on my hunter and it was a pretty terrible experience. If it wasn't for the old sniper window in the room above C on Blind Watch I don't think I would have ever gotten it done.

Had a clan member pull the one and only exotic at reset from the chest: his first Gjally.

Another guy pulled Truth this afternoon (the bastage), so its rocket week folks!

I lost the 1st and 3rd IB games I played today, due to being on the "randoms" team vs a full 6-person fireteam. I HIGHLY recommend Efrideets with that stock roll btw, my Void version runs that same perk set + field scout.

I certainly hope so! I'm still trying to grab my first Gjallarhorn (sigh).

Last week seemed to be shotgun week for me. I got three Secret Handshakes (two from purple engrams, one from a NF) and dismantled two of them since the perks were poor. Then I got my first 4th Horseman from another NF which I forgot was one of the few remaining exotics to elude me. It's a horrible PvP exotic but a kind of fun PvE to play with. You can take down a lvl 30 Ogre in 5 auto shots... from close proximity. :whistle2:

I was trying to login tonight but the Destiny servers won't let me. It keeps giving me the "you have lost connection to the destiny servers..." at the character selection screen. I tried everything I could think of but I guess tonight's just one of those nights.

Got another sum of all tears this afternoon. Second one wasn't nearly as impressive for me. I was kicking ass, and a few people quit, so it ended up just being me and two other dudes that weren't very good.

Loots this week so far:
NF: Mida multitool
VoG HM: chest nothing, Atheon either.
CE HM: 2nd Mida at Deathsinger, gave up after 7th try at Crota when sword runner couldn't survive till 2nd down, like our sword runners-we had 2- got 3 hits on 1st down, then idk just when we were going for 2nd down they fucked up, bumped to the "horn" rock when ran away, got aggroed by boomers, or just stupidly died.

Corrective Measure makes the thorn bounty really easy. You can easily go on a >5 killstreak if you pick up the heavy ammo and play very carefully (patrol/camp an area near a flag on control).

I was doing it as a Voidwalker so I was trying to rack up grenade and super kills as much as possible. Tonight I think I managed one kill with my Swordbreaker and a handful with the melee (which is also Void I think). But most of my kills that counted were with Corrective Measure. Then I got lots of (non-qualifying) kills with Vex just to stay alive. The problem was that I didn't always get heavy. We were in a full fireteam so we tended to play against other groups and they were usually pretty good about spoiling the heavy whenever possible.

But, yeah, I got it done after about 5 hours of IB tonight. So I was all set to check out my sweet new gun when I realized I still had another stupid step to complete! Arg - I mean, I knew about that because I've seen people talking about it before, but I just totally forgot. So now have to do the Xyor thing at Phogoth. Blah... Hopefully a CAG or two will help me with that. Well, I guess I need 2 to help me because if a random is in there he might screw it up.

But at least on Iron Banner now I can stop worrying about it. I can rush in and get more melee kills (for the bounty) and switch to Suros or something so I can get the primary headshot bounty (since Vex didn't count). And overall just not worry about dying quite so much!

As someone who hasn't raided much at all, earning the Vault of Glass chest, boots, and gauntlets for my Titan all in the span of a couple minutes was a pretty good feeling. Thanks to you guys for putting up with me getting lost in tunnels and sucking at the big jumps.

so with the AP nerf and new limited ammo , What is everyone feeling about the best perks to roll for a PvP spear?

My 3 spears from previous IB's:

solar, ambush scope, unflinching, snapshot/AP/perfect balance, final round (This used to be my got to in IB)

void, shortgaze/tacsys scope, rodeo, lightweight/fieldscout/custom optics, final round

arc, ambush scope, perfomance bonus, high caliber/fieldscout/custom optics, firefly

I also have an old supremacy from queens wrath event:

arc, shortgaze scope, double down (12 rounds when 1st spawn in PvP, but doesn't give more ammo on other resoawns even though the description suggests otherwise), High caliver/AP/skip rounds, lifesupport (I've never noticed this proc before so I don't know how usefel this is in PvP)

3x nightfall late last night after the marylin manson show in okc (first time seeing him since the show in 97!)

plug one with kneepads who cares

the calling with explosive rounds and firelfy NICCCCE

purple engram decoded into 2 shards seriously...first time getting a single purple engram as a nightfall reward.

1x easy crota kill to help someone out as he was spamming me during my nightfalls = 4 shards, but we got the trophy for raiding with your clan...now I can switch clans cause it was that kids dream to get this trophy and now my obligation is complete.

Hilarious how crota chases you into the crystal room now lol.

Congrats, I have an old 300 Proxima Centuar with ER/firefly (its outclassed but current guns w/ better stability now). It ruled old loot cave, 1 shot would destroy everything and produce enough orbs for everyone to super every mob clear

21 rumble wins over the last two days, only 26 left to go. I really wish ransoms were better at salvage. It's almost impossible to play through matchmaking.

That being said, if anyone wants to play some salvage this week, I might be around for a little bit Friday evening.

From IGN articles and summarized by /u/ j1h15233 on reddit

 • Crucible marks and rep are doubling across the board
 • Trials passages cost 100 glimmer
 • There are 12 new legendary items that can drop in the Crucible
 • Etheric light is a guaranteed drop at level 3 and level 5 of Iron Banner
 • If you ascend an exotic, you will not lose progress but will have to continue leveling an unfinished item
 • Crucible rewards have doubled in their frequency and the better you play, the more likely the reward
 • Dark Below crucible maps will soon be free to all
 • Trials matchmaking (to clarify, this is between your fireteam and your opponent. You must make your own fireteam) will choose connection over skill
 • There will be an Elimination Mode you can play all the time (Trials minus the bells and whistles)
 • Completing the daily crucible objective will give you a reward package that will contain Passage Coins for items that will help in Trials of Osiris, glimmer, motes of light, and more.

Loving the increase in crucible earnings most of all.

I finally hit 32 today! If only I had raided sooner. Played a bit earlier this afternoon.

Should be back on around 5:30-5:45 Pacific like last night. Hoping that's not too late to get in on the Crota killing.

So, between the 2 crappy legendary weapons I dismantled and the legendary engram that turned into 2 energy my Nightfall haul for the week ended up being 6 energy.

My titan is rank 3 in iron banner, warlock rank 2. Bought the sniper and rerolled it and stuck with unflinching, field scout, and final round does more damage. I also rerolled an old shotgun and think i stayed with luck in the chamber, shot package, and the middle 3 had like stability, high caliber rounds, and something else like aim faster. But i didnt want to waste a ton of motes so i thought that was good enough. Especially when im going to be getting some of those HoW shotguns when the DLC comes out! :D

This is how you start an Iron Banner match! Actually think i got 6 kills before i died. But those came a little later.

Ok I suck at IB now that Autorifles are nerfed...I am going to have to relearn how to play, not to mention I've never been on these small maps before. Bottom 2 in almost every match yesterday. I have a nearly leveled thorn, a hawkmoon, and a last word. I think I did best with last word because it shoots faster, but holy crap I used to usually be in the top 3 with suros. I have to use my slow ass titan too to get the helmet I want the most.

I dunno. I'm still getting wrecked by Suros when I run into people using it. It's mostly the Last Word (God I hate that gun) and Thorn with a little bit of Red Death though that I run into. (and get killed by)

I've been running the Iron Banner with Red Death and Thorn as my rotating primaries this time and things are going really well. It also seems like I get killed by those two most often in return along with the Hawkmoon. I use to run with the Suros almost exclusively before the nerf and it's still not a bad choice but takes an extra hit or two to get a kill. Which can matter.

I watched the Trials of Osiris stream and I really like what I saw. I'm hoping the better matchmaking system they're implementing actually works because lag would be a killer and beyond frustrating in this game type. I also like the concept of a set single map for each weekend. From a brief overview it looks like they put a lot of thought into this new PvP game type. Looks fun and I must get that Warlock helmet...

Maybe cause you are a hacking cheater with questionable parentage? :D/

People dont like to be schooled :twoguns:
It's not even like I'm crushing these people. I just won a game a little bit ago, then died when I was doing my end game dance, got teabagged, and then got a message "Try not using a shotgun noob." From the guy that was in third.

Um ok. Why would I not use a weapon that's available to me? Damn, people get mad when the lose.

Trials of Osiris looks fun. Reminds me of the elimination style that has been in Gears of Wars, though in Gears you couldnt revive. Got a jolders hammer drop, and rerolled it once and got Take a Knee, Field Scout, and Crowd Control. So im sticking with that. Im also 22 rep away from rank 4 and dat titan helmet!

Yeah I don't do crucible outside of IB because I want the gear. Same deal with the trials thing. I'll play for the gear and then quit because I only care about the gear and not winning. Some people care about winning and get frustrated when they lose. They then are not emotionally intelligent enough to know why they lost so you must be a cheater or a noob for using a shotgun like literally everyone else. Then taking that impulse far enough to message you just shows how very immature they are. I'd just laugh and block them. I'd reply and let them know that their salty tears lubricate my shotgun but I don't want to be swatted or get a stalker.

Haha...

That actually happened? I get teabagged on occasion and I always find it funny that I got under some random player's skin enough for them to take the time to do that. I've never been messaged though. That's insane, hilarious but insanely immature. Some people are just better at controlling their emotions than others apparently. Especially when very little is on the line.

Got my hunter (almost) to rank 3 in IB, needs about 200pts.  I can buy the chest piece, then grind for rank 4 in order to get the helmet.

Will probably switch to my titan and try to get the helmet for it as well... but man, I'm already starting to get bored after 2 nights.

As grindy as PvE may be, it still feels fresher than crucible.  Only thing making it enjoyable for me are the friends I run it with.

Different strokes and all that jazz, but I'm just not feelin' it.

Yeah...I get bored too but luckily once the buff is high enough this weekend its no big deal to get to 4. I might even do it for my warlock, after my titan, so I can get helmet and dress for him.
