Destiny (PS3/PS4) Official Thread

Chill night of Destiny'ng. 

After helping out on some NF runs, I went and finished some half-eaten crucible bounties.

I'm no PvP pro, but man did the quality of players in Crucible crash thru the floor or what.  A couple of times  I was matched to games already in progress and both times they were losing by a few K points.  Both times I ended up going on a rampage and helped pull out victories.  And a 3rd time the team was losing by about 8k and I was able to help close to within  a few K before we lost. It Was Surreal...

Then hooked up with a group for some Crota runs.

These guys run Crota on hard through the first 3 cp's.  Then quit out to run through normal all the way, doing the Crota fight 3x's in a row on normal.  Then they go back and do Crota hard 3x's in a row.

Still can't get a 2nd Black Hammer, but did finally get a Crux :D/.  Now I can actually bother to level up my Husk of the Pit.

Also got boots for my Hunter, so I can technically hit lvl 32 using this and the IB armor... once I get enough fuck 'ng Sapphire Wire :wall:

The only exotic I'm missing now is Lucky Raspberry, I think.

So THAT's what you were doing last night.

We did the obligatory Gorgon chest ritual, just....much later in the day. Saved my other 2 characters @ Templar as to maximize the lootage.

Only Exotic we pulled was a Monte Carlo from the chest.

On a side note, got Hawkmoon #2 from the first NF (shards+coins subsequently)...and Atheon saw fit to bless me with.....

Argh. I'd love to run through VoG Hard x3 tonight with you guys but I'm busy from 6-9 PM MST.

Nicely done gujimmy. The 100 group looks like a really useful way to schedule things in advance.

 
Like Deuterium, I will also be busy til later tonight. Bulls/Cavs Game 2 starts around 7 P.M. Eastern time, and I haven't missed watching a Bulls playoff game since before I had pubes.
 
I remembered why I quit playing Skirmish running 5 games for the bounty today. 3 out of the 5 games my team jumped out to a big lead and people on the other team started quitting. 2 of those games ended up becoming games of find the one guy that stayed and kill him 15+ times to get the game to end since matchmaking decided not to bring anybody new in. The other one had new people brought in quickly who left just as quickly. That one became a game of see new people join, kill them once or twice, watch them leave, wait for new people to join and repeat. In my other 2 games I had one decent game that stayed close that everyone stayed from start to finish and one game where the same thing happened with people leaving only this time it was the 2 guys on my team. They need to do something to discourage people from quitting.

 
OK guys, just had a tornado about 1/2 mile from my house. Had to take shelter in the middle of a nightfall. We dont have power right now so if I'm not online to raid you know why. Cell tower survived, but I'll shut down in a few to conserve battery. We are right by a dispatch hub for the power company so usually we get power back pretty fast, but who knows. We have some tree damage and stuff but seems ok otherwise. Too close for comfort though  :pray:

 
I fucking hate tornadoes after the March 2006 cyclones in Springfield, IL. Never bothered me til I lived through that. Hope things are good, totallyjem.
 
I'm fine, still no power...turns out it was closer than I thought but it was luckily not a direct hit and not a huge one F1 or F2 they were saying during the thing. I watched it all on my cell phone as it went over.

A few years ago my office building took almost a direct hit from an f2 that blew out the windows in the bakery next door and ripped the metal roof off a shopping center. So I knew since it was around the same size I was not likely to be injured, just property damage stuff to worry about and that is no big deal. Now an f4 or 5 is either you are underground or dead. That would be some scary shit. 

At work charging all my stuff and enjoying A/C.

The March 2006 Springfield tornadoes were a pair of F2's. The funnel cloud for one of them was forming directly over my apartment at one point and it was raining horizontally. No damage to my place, but lots around the city. Tornadoes fucking suck.
 
So i decided to make a new warlock, not sure if i want to go human male, human female, or awoken female. Already have an awoken female hunter so i kind of want to go with a human. Male has the better dance, but who looks best in warlock gear, male or female?

PS used my 200 marks on an Against All Odds Machine Gun before i deleted him. ;)

As someone who's had an Awoken female since day 1, pass.

I prefer the female guardians to the male; they just look better to me (especially compared to the titan male guardian, that sucker looks like a bunch of lego blocks stuck together). But that dance gets old quick.

Picture Killing Crota... you want to celebrate... everyone busts out their dance moves... and you start a striptease, SMH.

I still have an awoken female Warlock and she looks great, but still hate the dance.

Now my exo female Huntress has a killer dance. I love it.

 
I did one of each class and one of each race and all males. I think my titan is a robot, my hunter is a martian, and my warlock is a human.

Also yeah this is closer than a 1/2 mile  :whistle2:

Glad everything is OK jem. Hopefully it stays that way. Today for the first time ever I got an exotic after coming in first place in the crucible. To bad it was NLB.
 
I feel like a drug addict. Can I get just one nightfall man just one...

Hope the power comes back on today and the round of storms on the way doesn't take it back out.

I still haven't gotten to do any raids or nightfalls. Tonight is another Bulls playoff game, but I'd definitely be down to play over the weekend.
 
I was able to scrounge up enough sapphire wire to hit 32 on my huntress :D/ .

It's a mixture of IB and Crota gear but I made it.  Now I can be relevant in the Crota hard runs (though there's not much left that I want from there)  and equip whatever exotic I want.

I'm sure I'll be on tonight, but gonna try to remember to hit up the Splatoon beta/demo tonight.  At least that's only an hour long

Congratulations, Frosty!

I got on briefly to pick up a couple bounties and breeze through the daily. Then I bought 3 exotics I didn't have before. Got the Thunderlord and exotic engram from Xur. Engram yielded Apotheosis Veil.

Decided I still wanted to buy the Obsidian Mind since people say it's good. I have those helms and Sunbreakers in the vault. With HoW coming soon, I reckon I should finally create a Warlock.

Storm coming into town at 5, then more on Saturday so I might get knocked back off the grid.

I've stopped upgrading everything except weapons until the next dlc hits seeing that they are revamping the upgrade system for armors. Finally we don't have to farm class mats like saphire wire etc. I think they changed it to only needing 4 per node instead of 16. And they also got rid of the additional defense nodes (everything starts at max defense) so I wonder if we would still need class mats to get the perks on legendary armor pieces.

Also glad to hear everything's fine with you totallyjem. Every time I've seen you online you were on Netflix. What you watching?!?
 
Probably on my ps3 in the living room...I thought I had it set up to say what I was watching? Friends, Chopped, Iron Chef, and Daredevil mostly...my wife watches a lot of BBC stuff. Friends gets so bad, but we are almost done...its kind of like watching the last season of scrubs where you do it out of duty even though its just not that good.

I just do destiny on ps4...I do watch some netflix though in my mancave on the ps4 when I'm eating or something and cant be shooting aliens.

I got borderlands in the mail the other day...I wonder if that will pull me away from destiny at all or if it will get dusty like GTA and Dragon Age.

ArJay, I was going to message you but saw you were leveling a character. Totallyjem and I ran 2 Nightfalls before he had to go. He said he might raid later if he is able to get back on PSN. I am definitely all for getting a raid group together. Either raid would be fine with me.

Raiding with LFG groups is terrible. I've joined 4 groups so far, and have one normal VOG completion. I do have a hard mode Atheon checkpoint on my hunter now.

 
Ended up joining a crucible group on LFG. We played something like 25 games of clash and won 23 of them. Most of them were decisive victories, too. One game we held the other team to 990 points. Ended up getting the last of the wins I needed for grimoire on that playlist too.
 
Hi, I am getting back into Destiny on the ps4 and could use some CAG friends to play with. I own the season pass and have a 29 Hunter. I play on CST. I played every day non stop for the 1st few months until all of my raid friends bailed on me for other games. I started back this weekend (working thru the 1st expansion) and am having fun. I can play anytime weekends after 5pm till whenever and anytime weekends. Looking to raid, do nightfalls, etc.

I think I have incompatible schedules with most of you. I play during work hours. I work from home and play during down time. I'm usually on 9AM - 530 PM EST but can't use a Mic unless I'm on break or lunch. But if you ever see me on doing a nightfall or bounties or something, feel free to join up.
 
I was on damn near 24/7 when I was unemployed but now that I'm back working my schedule varies. (Retail) So I never really know when I'm going to get on and there's some days when I'm home at like 4 or 5 but my giveashit-o-meter is busted so I don't feel up for Destiny or video games in general.

 
Quick heads-up...

PSN maintenance scheduled for tonight. Might impact Destiny's ability to beat-you-down ;) . 

So remember, you gotta be signed into PSN prior to it going live or else you'll be locked out until it's done.

Oh and...

a little over 7 days until House of Wolves drops its load.

Both excited and leary at the same time.

 
The wife was supposed to start her summer internship on the 18th, so I took the 19th and 20th off to destiny. Now she might not start until the week after. Lame.
 
So apparently starting the 12th, after the update, if you do the highlighted PVP mode of the day, you can get a PVP package like you do with special events. Only have to play the mode once, and can be done every day.

Yea they said in the weekly update last week that the 1.2 patch was dropping today which had the following Crucible changes:

Shortly before the hunt for the House of Wolves begins on May 19th, all players will download Update 1.2.0 for Destiny. It will be another evolution for the experience you know. Check out this preview of some of the details we released this week, as compiled with Senior Crucible Designer Derek Carroll:

  • The spawn locking issue currently affecting Iron Banner will be fixed
  • Legendary items will be added to post-game reward tables for all Crucible activities
  • Your first match in the daily featured Crucible activity will earn you a new reward package each day
  • Reputation and Mark gains will double for each completed Crucible match
  • Etheric Light will become available for acquisition from Lord Saladin upon reaching Rank 3 and Rank 5 in Iron Banner
  • And, finally, these maps from The Dark Below will become the domain of all and be added to the standard rotation for select playlists


Didn't they say that they were doubling the amount of marks you could carry as well as increasing the payouts per match? Thought I remember hearing that but cannot remember. If they do the same as they did with TDB this patch could be pretty large and include most of the resources for HoW to lighten server load on the 19th.
