Devil May Cry 4 - Gen. Discussion & Info

Theres no reason that a game developed for 360/PS3 can't be AAA. No matter what Sony would have you believe about the cell and it's UBER difficult programming, the systems are not that far apart in power. Anything one can do, the other can do, given the right developers and enough time.

We don't need 3rd party exclusives anymore, down with them.

Hands down the 2 systems are pretty much on equal footing. Any potential strengths one system has can be compensated for with good design.

Splinter Cell double agent comes to mind, its a great game, but OH MY! There are so many bugs in that game its unbelievable. And I have a pretty big huntch it would not be that way if it was set to one console. Which is in part why I cringed when they stated DA will be coming to all other platforms.
But the Splinter Cells were on all three last-gen platforms. Your logic assumes that multiplatform was the sole purpose of bugs, what about increasing complexity of games and working on new hardware? Unless you can get the share of bugs due to multiplatform-ity down to a scientific certainty (or at least a hard number), it just looks like random speculation backed up with dubious games.
Splinter cell has glitches because its an Ubisoft game.
AND why are Ubisoft games ussually buggy?

Because they are multiplatform.

Are you guys serious? I thought this information was known. Multiplatform games tend to be more buggy and less solid.

Did you guys really not know that?

The only time you see solid multiplatform games is when it is timed exclusive.

Prince of Persia wasnt solid?

I think ports tend to turn out crappy most the time but multiplatform games aren't as bad. A game could bomb if its exclusive or not and most every game has glitches.

Heh, I was coming here to post the petition!

http://www.petitiononline.com/capcompe/petition.html

Woohoo!

Im always for games staying exclusive. Why the hell not? I'd want Gears of War to stay exclusive, i'd want Mario Galaxies to stay exclusive, id want Halo, Zelda, Mass Effect exclusive.

I love me exclusives.

People say im crying cause I want it to stay exclusive, what about everyone else crying cause they cant get a game cause its on another console. Haha.

Whats so horrible about wanting exclusives?

The petition is dumb I agree.

But what is so stupid about exclusives?

nothing is stupid about exclusives, I guess.

but man, it's over. DMC4 is not exclusive.

Oh, I know that.

I think the petition is funny though.

Im always entertained by petitions. Has that petition site ever worked?

It'd be interesting to see.

DarkNessBear has finally gone off the deep end.

In other news, Oblivion/CoD3/Burnout Revenge/SotN/Ridge Racer rocks, they're not exclusive.

Just wanted to point out a few of the games i've been playin lately that are not exclusive but are not buggy pieces of ubishit.

So, you're saying a Multiplatform game that is being developed for 2, 4 even 8 different platforms will be the same as a game developer for one system?

Just in terms of testing the game. Your gonna have more time testing one platform than you will all platforms.

Porting a game doesnt keep the entire game in tact. It can result in a ton of bugs.

I still dont get whats so wrong about exclusives?

Give it up, your reasoning is more idiotic then Bush's last term (and I'm a republican ;)).

My major is Game Concepts, and my Game Idea Development teacher tells us time and time again that multiplatform is the way to go this generation. In fact, once the bulk of the game is done on the main PC's, they just fine tune it individually for the 3 platforms on the specific development units.

The Devil May Cry: The Animated Series anime disc will be packed with the Steelbook case, and will include the first four episodes of the 12 episode anime series. Volume one of the four-disc DVD anime series will be available from ADV Films at the same time the game launches. Fans of Dante won’t be disappointed as he too will be playable during the course of the game.

Devil May Cry 4 is an epic story where the lines between good and evil are constantly blurred. Taking full advantage of the advanced graphical and processing power of the next-gen systems and Windows PC it draws gamers into the rich and highly detailed world of Fortuna and its surrounds with more enemies than ever before and some of the most breath-taking bosses ever conceived.

Devil May Cry 4 includes the following features:

• From the producer of the original Devil May Cry® and Resident Evil® 4

• Unique "Devil Bringer" arm opens up a range of never seen before combo options
• Distinct set of weaponry and moves for Nero and Dante
• New active style change system for Dante allows him to switch styles and weapons on the fly, producing crazy combo possibilities

Well, now that I know what's in the DMC4 CE I don't really want it. The anime was not very good.

Since it's DMC4 I still may get it anyways, I'll have to think about it.

This isn't even a good CE (at least not for non-fans of anime). I wouldn't have even bought it at $69.99.

I'll just stick to the regular edition.

If you want the anime, it's actually not a bad deal. The MSRP on anime DVDs is about $25-30. So if someone was going to buy the anime and the game, this might actually be worth it.

That being said, I'm not getting it. I have no desire to see a DMC anime... Which sucks because I love steelbook cases.

Most anime based on video games suck anyway (with a few exceptions, such as Gungrave). But I agree with what my co-worker said today - if I *did* want the anime, I'd probably want the complete set. And it'd be strange having disk one stuck in with my game while the rest were in their box.

I think they should have charged $70 & just included the first episode of the anime to give everyone a taste.

But the first episode is sorta decent so people might have been tricked into buying more, but including the first 4 episodes will make sure only highly insane (and stupid) DMC fanboys buy the rest of it ;)

EDIT: For the record I am a HUGE DMC fan and I think the anime was pretty bad.

This is actually a pretty good deal and a half decent collector's set. No way in hell would I buy it, even if the PC version is cheaper, but this kicks the crap out of almost of the crap collector's editions that have come out for the 360.

Looks like you get an art book when you preorder this game at Gamestop. I doubt it will be rare as the previous preorder swag since it's a mainstream game on multi-platform systems. I got a good feeling that Capcom will mess this up well judging by their past history on Okami Budda Board, Phoneix Wright stylus or key chain . I probably going to preorder for free swag then cancel for inevitable deals at major chain stores.

I'm stuck on this one. I kind of want to get the CE, but then again it's $80. I also can't decide on what version to get, the PS3 or 360. Anyone know which one will have better graphics, better gameplay, and overall better? I'm leaning towards the 360 version, but I would be able to have it in HDMI with my PS3 while only component for 360.

PS3 version will have no load times. That's the only real difference.

Im debating.. ps3 with no load times.. or 360 with achievements.. mhh..

Im getting collectors edition either way.

Gotta go reserve it at CC for the free 10dollar gc.. ^_^

Kobayashi is signing 100 of the 360 CE and 100 of the PS3 CE, and they're being distributed randomly throughout the US.
I can't really tell, but did he sign the inside or outside? How much do you want to bet Gamestop stores will have plenty of signed copies at hand?
