Wondering if Blizzard will try combat outside selling of gold at some point once the RMAH is in play, since it cuts into their income.
Not sure how they would since it seems like there would always be some kind of workaround.
you figure the fear of dealing w/strangers will be enough to keep a lot of ppl from buying/selling outside of the RMAH...as well, there might just be so many microtransaction that it will be enough to keep blizz happy. this is certainly one way blizzard can actually profit from gold farming to a degree.
Just wondering, I have a bunch of 6 property gloves to sell, how do I put something like this together? What programs do I need? What are the steps etc? (prnt screen each glove and crop but how do I put them together in one page?)http://i.imgur.com/U5ASW.png
Looks like you got it there?
I'll take the Hand Terminus ;)

I actually just got the idea from someone on the forums but uh I can probably hook you up with gloves. What class do you play?

He's a Wizard.

Hmm... those are pretty decent. Wish I was farming recently to have a nice one with Int and Fire Resists/All Resists. Would be nice for these damned Diablo shenanigans.

Lag in hardcore is about the same as regular, so if you lag in regular, expect to get similar lag in hardcore. Makes for some great artificially tense moments as you make your way through the easier difficulties.

After doing a couple of Siegebreaker runs yesterday, I got tired of farming and decided to make another go at reaching Azmodan. Three hours and countless deaths later, Azmodan was dead, and I was able to progress to act 4. I didn't go far, but the beginning of act 4 feels way easier than the Tower of Sin. Better space to kite in and every other champion isn't a licker, javelin thrower, or phasebeast. It's nice not being brick walled out of the next act, even though I know the difficulty is going to spike again later, probably after I clear out the hell rifts and leave the staring area.

Well, I completed my first goal of taking my monk to act 4 inferno. I think I'm going to do some farming for the RMAH and hope the market on everything doesn't crash within the first hour due to gold farmers. If anyone wants any advice on acts 1-3 from a monk's perspective, I'm willing to help.
The Real Money Auction House is supposed to go live next Tuesday.
Does this mean patch 1.0.3 is supposed to come out next tuesday?

Well this fucking blows. I just got an email telling me the dial-in authenticator doesn't work on D3 and told me I have to buy their physical authenticator.

Anyone want to buy anything?
What plans did you use to make those? Did you find them or buy them? I just recently started upgrading my blacksmith. Spent so much gold just to get him to lvl 7 . . . and i'll be spending so much more to get him to lvl 10.

Also, wondering if anyone can sell me the inferno herding staff plans? I just finished act1 inferno and would love to get the plans before getting to act 4.

I know the vendor next to the healer in north-west corner sells the plans. Maybe you can buy couple and sell one to me, pleaseeee!!!

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you need to have completed the difficulty level before you can get to Whimsyshire for that level.

You only need to be up to the last quest in Act IV. Then the guy sells them.

I also believe they're Bind of Pickup, so he'd have to join someone and buy them himself.

The books aren't binding. The staff and the 5 pieces excluding the book are binding.

Anyone want to help me out?

Whelp, Blizzard has done it again. All the farm spots were stealth nerfed overnight. Crypts, Kulle, Depths, and Underbridge. No more chest or pot farming for us. What I don't understand is why they're pushing people to kill bosses and elites when most people do this SOLO (the same people that already got their gear from chest farming, so the rich get richer). Chest farming was the first time I've ever come together with three friends and I just got some dumb achievements last night to prove it. We farmed last night for close to 5-6 hours and did I find a single upgrade for myself? NOPE!

What makes Blizzard think I'd enjoy spending so much more time killing elite packs and bosses for even less chance of an upgrade to my already shitty gear? More likely I'll just quit since I can't make any progress for my character. They need to either tighten the spread of desirable stats or give us a better ROI. Just feels like I'm stuck in an infinite loop of awful RNG and never getting anywhere.

Oh wait, I just realized RMAH is on Tuesday so their intent is forcing people to buy their gear. fuck off Blizzard.

Seriously, this enrages me. I was farming VotA overnight. Just got on and saw I was disconnected (all the gold and shit still on screen just taunting me). Then I find out they nerfed it so the respawning spiders don't drop shit anymore.

They make a game where they do nothing but force you to farm, then get all pissy and nerf your ability to farm. Makes sense. Guess its back to boring ass Jalier/Butcher runs (because doing that 3948567234058967 times only to find zero items worth a fuck is so much fun).
are you guys grinding gear because you need it to beat inferno or just because you want to have the best stuff?
You need it to beat Inferno. I have relatively decent gear and I cant beat Act Two. 50k HP and 500+ Resist All and I still get raped. You need the Act Three and Four gear in order to advance, and the only way (at least for me - someone stuck in Act One) to get it is to farm gold so I can buy armor for 1mil+ per piece off the AH since good gear does not drop in Act One.

Its fucking lame. I'm pretty much done with this game.

Yeah, I think I've hit the wall with my barb. Beat Act 1 with a group of 4 this morning but I got destroyed going solo on Act 2. Upping my resist all helped some but the trade offs mean it takes a year to kill anything. Got some decent drops but nothing I can use and selling shit on the auction house is a chore...

Isn't the whole point of the next patch that they're working to smooth the difficulty curve and also improve drops in earlier acts? I'm not sure you can really separate that from this since that would presumably remove a lot of the necessity to farm.

I'm not naive enough to say that the RMAH has nothing to do with it, but I don't think Blizzard is completely devoid of an honest desire to improve the game either.

My take on it was that they're nerfing the spikey damage, but for the most part Inferno past Act One will still be mostly a PITA. Also, the increased gear drops mean nothing really. What was it, like a 2% chance now to find an item that's not a piece of shit? Meh. It'll still wind up being way better to just buy from the AH. I don't feel like Farming Act One for a year just to get three pieces of gear that I can actually use.

Game just feels pretty pointless. The people that already used the good farming methods are in Act Three and Four, the rest of the people got fucked.

The Crypts farming is nerfed now?
....Shit. I guess we could partly blame the bots for abusing those.

Yup. I really don't understand why gear gets so expensive for inferno. I'm at the point now where even paying 1-5mil for an upgrade wont make a noticeable difference for act II so I need to raise like 10mil+ just to have enough to upgrade all my gear so I actually make some progress.

Inflation from farmers. There aren't enough major gold sinks in the game, so people just hoard tons of money.

The increased drop rate and more consistent drops from elites should help balance things out by flooding the market with good gear, dropping prices. Until that patch, I'm thinking about stopping playing, or simply avoiding the AH and farming with friends for hopeful upgrades.

I've just started leveling up other characters while waiting for the patch. Even started a Hardcore Barb today.

This. WD is way more fun than I thought it would be....

For anyone not wanting to watch the video: You can cancel auctions via adjusting your system clock which is so completely amateur hour for any piece of software, let alone an always-online DRM driven one, that it'd be laughable were it not so terrifying.

If this is possible from the very people hoping to bring you a real money auction house then you simply have to wonder what other colossal fuck-ups exist.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spMS3Hhk1FA&feature=g-u-u

I honestly believe that they should just scrap the real money auction house as it's going to be filled with fraud and abuse. Even if Blizzard nailed every aspect with complete perfection there'd be lawsuits flying. It's just not worth it. (and given the above video...they aren't even close to being ready for real money transactions)

WD is the last class I haven't tried, so I'll need to give it a go at some point.

I'm still fondest of the DH, though that's likely because I've spent almost 100 hours using it.

I've got my Monk up to 43, which has been pretty fun/easy. But I can already tell Inferno will be really tough as a melee class.

I've only dipped my toe in the water on the Wizard and Barb so far, but I like what I've played of them.

Crypt farming may be down but has anyone went back to NM Whimsy for gold farming? I've been getting 30+k per run compared to my horrendous drop before....

Are you doing this with five NV stacks or are you just going straight to Whimsy?

What bugs me most about 1.03 is that Im still on Hell atm. I have farmed bosses for quite some time and the only rares I got were on my first run through of the game. Then I see that once I get to 60 thats getting reduced and my shit luck will stay shit. So instead I have to farm Invulnerable, Vampire, Shield, Whatever the fuck mobs that I can take for shit because Im a barbarian and so far I either stay alive and do no damage or do damage and die alot until a blue or yellow mobs finally bites the dust.

Also: Hi, how is everyone? I've read lots of good info here and wanted to blow a post on my bitching. Thank you for your time.
Are you doing this with five NV stacks or are you just going straight to Whimsy?
I just go straight to Whimsy and pick up NV stacks with the elites there. I'm doing this with Gold Find equipment BTW to maximize the gold drops.

how long does it take for you to do a run at ponyland?
how long does it take for you to do a run at ponyland?
Around 10-15 minutes I believe if you have a good DPS weapon to quickly kill the denizens there. I just pick up the gold and any other blues or rare I see then quickly sell them at the vendor before leaving and restarting the game.

The fact that every item that drops for me is crap is really killing my desire to invest any time in this game. I'm up to level 57 and almost finished with Act 2 Hell. I still have yet to find a legendary item and every single item my character currently uses has been purchased from the auction house. Maybe it's my poor luck, but this game is not nearly as addictive as D2. Maybe the new patch will change things, or maybe I will just wait for Torchlight 2.
You're not missing much.
Seriously. I found a legendary Dagger last night. 100 DPS with random trash stats. I've found like four or five legendary items at this point and literally every single one has been awful.

Ive found 3 legendary. None were worthwhile.
I bought leg. bracers that were decent and used them, then sold them later (274K -> 750K so cant complain there)

in hell the only upgrades for me have been from the auction house. seems like the items dropping were about 5 levels behind too.

Got to Act IV Inferno last night. I was able to get to Rakanoth, but defintely hit a brick wall there. All he has to do is teleport to me and instadeath - he doesn't even seem to attack since last time his back was to me.
This. WD is way more fun than I thought it would be....
I have a level 51 WD and I've had fun with the class. Sure, I'm dying against some elite mobs but that's mostly due to not having great gear.

There are lots of build combinations to try though since you can go a pet's build, AOE build, defense build, etc.

The class does have short comings though.

One thing that sucks is the WD is not best in just one area. There is a good deal of decision making when it goes into fights as WD. There are also several skills that are throwaways at higher levels.

Even now, I'm still experimenting on different combinations and trying to figure out if some skills I used in normal still work.

I have a feeling once I get to inferno with WD I'll start another character rather than smash my head into a brick wall.
