Diablo III / Diablo II Battle.net Thread

I love how Act IV gives no XP. Was 48 on my Monk, did Act IV on nightmare, came out 49 and a half bar to 50.

Had to replay a bit but I unlocked Hell for my Monk. Going to start hell probably on Sunday seeing I will be out going to movies tomorrow.

Jodou - since I have not looked at my Barb since the opening days, what skillset are you using? Since you went DPS are you running 2H weapon as well? Sorry for all the questions....it's still early and my mind is running and not fully awake.

As you can see in the video, I stayed sword n' board for now although DW or 2H is completely viable (with the gear to support it ;)).

It's a play-it-safe build right now since I'm not pushing 40k DPS yet unbuffed. Once I start to dip into the kill it before it kills you territory (at least for the tougher mobs with shielding), I might start experimenting with more offensive abilities. Barbs are in a very good spot right now, probably overpowered due to Blizzard failing to balance classes after they nerfed the game 30% across the board. Tons of fun if you have the gold to spend upgrading one.

In need of some advice. What do I need to "fix" my character currently so that he's no longer getting so messed up in Act 2?

Here's his current stats when fully buffed.

D3Advice.sized.jpg

Using only 2 offensive skills (Eletrocute / Hydra) which cut through mobs pretty well. Defensive is Diamond Skin. My "buffs" are Magic Weapon, Familiar, and Force Armor (Prismatic). My passives are Blur, Galvanizing Ward, and Glass Cannon.

I'm still struggling with Act 2. Thoughts on how to fix?

Your resists are awfully high and your damage is awfully low for a ranged DPS character. Your resists don't need to be that high because you shouldn't be taking hits, you should be kiting/killing enemies quickly. Its hard to say what to do without seeing the stats on your gear, but I'd imagine you could get rid of a lot of that resist all gear and get some more damage. You definitely need more crit chance and crit damage as well.

No kidding. I think the Barb is the cheapest class (gold-wise) to upgrade since its the only class that relies on strength, so finding items in AH for it are cheaper.

two things i can tell you that will help right away.

1. switch prismatic armor to pinpoint barrier.
2. use blizzard with the cold damage passive as it is currently glitched and will apply the 20% bonus damage to even non-cold sources (ie your eletrocute) i'd personally switch out galvanizing ward.
Using only 2 offensive skills (Eletrocute / Hydra) which cut through mobs pretty well. Defensive is Diamond Skin.
I had been using Diamond Skin for a long time and recently switched over to Teleport + Fracture. On Inferno Diamond Skin will only buy you 2-3 hits. Teleport will be a "Get out of jail" ticket against jailers & wallers, whereas the benefits of using Diamond Skin in those situation doesn't seem to help very much. Plus your clones will basically cut the amount of damage coming your way to 1/3 of what it'd normally be. It also makes kiting a lot easier and somewhat mitigates the need for boots with a speed bonus. Add Illusionist to the mix and it'll be really tough for enemies to put any real pressure on you.

Like SEH said, you don't need your resist to be nearly that high. Anything past 600 (even that may be a bit much) and you'll really see some diminishing returns.

Keep in mind, this is buffed stats. Now, I can definitely drop the resists just by changing Prismatic Armor up. I can also drop Diamond Skin to pick up Teleport and give that a shot. Will give those 2 things a play around and see how they work out.
Lack of sockets kind of kills it, otherwise that would be awesome. Still pretty good though.
If i could get a 2nd in set, the 130int would be nice. It's a WD oriented set though, comes with a mask and mojo.
The ring or boots(IAS, movement speed) would maybe work, but cost 3 mil+.
(the armor starts at 10 mil/$50 so selling it is also quite tempting)
Anyone else playing a Witch Doctor? I've run through to Act 4 with it in the last 2 days and am actually enjoying having 6 stiffs tanks for me. Is there something I am missing later on that will get me? My only death thus far was when I walked away after loading the game and forgot that I was not in town in Act 3 but near the end of the Act and got schooled by 2 packs of champs while I was away.
I have a level 60 witch doctor that I'm currently trying to get inferno gear for. I soloed all of normal, nightmare and most of Hell. Once I reached the bridge in Act III just before the Siedgebreaker I co oped with another level 60 until we killed Diablo.

Before that I didn't have much issues with Nightmare until I got to Act IV. A little grinding and I got better gear to get to Hell.

I found that in Hell difficulty I was fine until I ran into the nasty packs of champions throughout all the Acts. Especially, illusionist/invulnerable/plague/extra health bats/wasps/fallen shaman/etc in caves or dungeons where I couldn't re-enact scenes from Benny Hill or Scooby Doo (run away kiting) while taking pop shots at them .

Didn't think it'd get that much, guess I shouldn't be surprised. At least you get loot. I get a legendary shield drop and think "Yaaaaaay, Stormshield!" only to get a god damned Ivory Tower. Bastards.

That chest is really holding you back in terms of high main stat rolls. Best to get a 150+ INT with three sockets and drop the resists for other gearing choices. Should be a relatively cheap upgrade even with a VIT roll.

I just have to tell you guys, I play the game casually. Currently I am a lvl 41 monk and on act 2 of NM. Reading alot of this stuff you guys talk about in this thread literally makes my brain hurt. Seriously lol. You folks are some professional Diablo players for damn sure. Good game folks, good game indeed. If anyone wants to add me feel free to do so. Damien187#1843

Found my first legendary! Got it early in act 1 Inferno off a weapon rack!
Hopefully I can get some $$ off it, but it's 2-hand so I wont get my hopes up.

Two-handers are fine now and totally viable, but the DPS on that is dogshit for its level. Its so lame that most legendaries are terrible, specifically the weapons.

That's honestly garbage. Prolly won't get much more than vendor cost, if that, on the AH.

Hit 50.

On to Hell.

Friend's Barb got killed due to very weird glitch. He was frozen in place couldn't move but he was still getting hit with his life going down, so I join his game asap with Force Wave with the teleport rune (teleports all enemies away) got them all off of him, there was an arcane enchanted yellow monster that spawned his orbs on my buddy. I killed them close to him and picked up the health vials so he got healed by them. Saw his health bar moving appropriately with the hits he was taking so it wasn't like normal lag. Anyway he was at full HP and still couldn't move when suddenly he unfroze and took 2 steps and keeled over dead. It looked hilarious but obviously it sucked, he was 51.

If that happened at 2am, I was in a game with Rhett and we both had weirdness going on. Couldn't log out, all animations were only half drawn and didn't look like we were moving around to each other.

Yeah, I was kinda afraid of that. I saw a bunch on the AH for $250 with even worse stats than mine and was like "wow, there's no way someone will buy that.". But I guess I should expect a shit item that came off the weapon rack in Old Tristram

A 1H weapon typically isn't really worth anything unless it has at least 900 DPS and a 2H weapon at 1300 DPS. A lot of those $250 lots are long shots anyway. Since it doesn't cost the seller anything to post a lot they figure they've got nothing to lose in at least trying to get that much money. I have yet to find a weapon drop that was worth more than 50,000 gold.

Fixed it for you

So why didnt you sell it for $100 then?

I swear to god, you can live off of the Real Money Auction House! There are some weapons going for ridiculous amounts.
i've never even seen the rmah, how do you get to it?
In the AH look in the upper right corner of the "page". You will see a toggle for Gold or USD (or whatever currency you are using).

Never looked at going rates till it sold, I'm like wow I just listed it, that should quick
i've never even seen the rmah, how do you get to it?
Its not available for Hardcore.

I wish I could get some drops that are worthy of the RMAH... But it seems that I am going to be stuck in Act 1 of Inferno with both of my toons until the end of time

I have a couple questions about the AH

1) is it worth bothering to AH items that are not for lvl60 characters? Does your answer change if you refer to the RMAH or gold AH (i.e. don't bother with RMAH for

Nice. Really nice.

BTW, has anyone really gotten any "awesome" drops from Act1?
Because even though I do get lv63 item drops, the stats in it are the ones found on 50+ items.

I've not gotten anything really great, but a few things have sold for 1-2 million gold. A friend of mine found a second Ouroburos that he sold for like $70 within an hour of finding it. Act three drops are better, obviously, but the repair costs don't really make it worth it. Just get some decent gear with a bit of MF and you should find some decent stuff in act one.

I have 98 MF w/o NV with 30k DPS and 34k Life. Is the MF good enough?

I wish I could still farm Act3 but the nerf to NT pretty much killed my DH character killing potential.

I just don't understand how people can even play hardcore with the server issues. I mean; you are awesome and I love you for it but...latency, spikes, and downtime.

I even have a singular hardcore female barbarian (named: BBW) but I simply cannot play her seriously outside of bullshit achievements.
