I've been looking around the Internet for a mew and there is all this talk about legit and non legit Mews. What is the real difference? Does one get banned online and one doesn't? I'm not getting it. Somebody clear this up please before I do any trading.
legit Mew- get from nintendo event. Hacked - use action replay. There is cloned pokemon but there is no way to tell. Currently Nintendo does not ban hacked pokemon.

I doubt Nintendo will ban Pokemon. That whole nintendo announcement is just a rumor, and there are hackers on metroid and mk where Nintendo has done nothing to address that. The most I could see Nintendo doing is restricting trades of legendary/event pokemon. There's really no way to tell a real from a "hacked" pokemon when a person has access to almost all aspects of the pokemon and can make it as legitimate as the real one.
The hacked pokemon aren't my doing, but if people are against me trading them, I won't. Probably wouldn't be a good thing to let loose illegitimate pokemon into the trading economy anyway.

Moving on, can someone check this? I imported a Metagross from a friend's game, and either I am calculating wrong (I am using the IV calc on serebii.net), or it has perfect IV's in FIVE stats (odds of that are about the odds of winning the lottery. Twice). Here are his stats:

Metagross
Hardy nature
HP 174
Att 184
Def 176
Sp. Atk 136
Sp. Def 129
Speed 117
Without doing any calculations, I can almost assure you that it does *NOT* have perfect IV's in 5 stats. Your friend probably leveled up this Metagross through battling. Doing so, it gained EVs. If you don't take the EVs into account when you calculate your IVs, it will appear that your IVs are higher than they actually are.

If you want to know for sure, feed that Metagross the EV reducing berries, and check again.
hey I'm just wondering what do you need in order to save your pokemon save file from the DS to the computer? Eventually I'd like to play the game a 2nd time, but I also want to get really good pokemon guys and maybe battle a bit...so I won't want to delete the DS file. So ya...if theres some way to transfer the save to my computer and then back to the DS later I'm set, otherwise I might buy the other version in the future.

You'd think they'd realize the dilemma I explained existed...eh...actually I bet they did, they just want you to waste more $$$ XD
Anyone? XD...how do I hook my DS up to my PC and transfer save files? o_O
Anyone? XD...how do I hook my DS up to my PC and transfer save files? o_O
You can't with the retail version of pokemon. You need something like an r4ds which plays roms. With the r4ds you can load save files via a memory card, usually flash memory. However, you can generate save files and input via AR code, but no, you can't transfer the save file on your retail version pokemon to the computer. quote self ftl. lawl.

I don't know why, but for the last couple of days I can't trade nothing for Dialga and Palkia. Before a simple Piplup would do, but now there's almost nobody trading these two. Maybe Nintendo banned the hacked Pokemon which were flooding the GTS?

Well, looking at the trade, a Piplup for a Dialga/Palkia is certainly not equivalent. Besides, the only reason why there are hacked pokemon on GTS is a) People intentionally want to screw up GTS. Otherwise, what would a "hacker" need GTS for when he can already get any pokemon he wants through a cheating device. I doubt all those Palkias/Dialgas were legit. Unless they were asking for the opposite or a legendary of similar worth.

Ah, I never thought to take that into account. Still, it would have been nice thinking I had such an awesome Metagross.

Whats a good nature for Gyarados to battle with? I'm thinking Adamant...but is there any other good ones?

The Adamant Magikarp I levelled up a bit has pretty poor stats really. My Starly has kinda lower stats too...maybe 1 lower in some stats, but ya I guess that really doesnt matter much.
Anybody know how I can trade for a Mew or get one as I don't believe there is any "LEGIT" way? Does anybody even trade that thing? Anybody cloned it in Emerald or something? I really want a low level Mew. If you have a Gamershark, AR, or anything from a previous game to get it and would give me one. I would really like it. I don't cheat in the sense of battle or anything but I don't think there is any way to collect this pokemon other than some GS or AR device.
The only way is to buy a cartridge that has Mew pre-loaded on it. Thats how I had to get mine. Unfortunately, it is already in my Pearl game, and I don't believe there is a way to clone pokemon in DP yet.

Also, on how to spot fake pokemon, here are some ways

1) If it is shiny, be skeptical
2) Check where it was caught and at what level. If, say, you have a Kyogre caught at level 5 in Littleroot town, it's hacked.
3) This one is harder to check, but check IV levels. You can go here: http://www.serebii.net/games/iv-calcdp.shtml to check. IV's range from 0 to 31, 31 being the best. Most hacked pokemon will have perfect IV's in all six stats, and keep this in mind, the chance of catching a pokemon with perfect IV's in the wild is 1 in 1,073,741,824. You'd have a better chance of having all your pokemon catching pokerus on their own then getting a single perfect IV pokemon.
4) If it is an evolution or legendary that is below what you find it at or before the level it evolves, it's probably fake (like a level 1 Garchomp).

EDIT: About my metagross, if I used the right berries (Pomeg,Kelpsy,Qualot,Hondew,Grepa), it is still showing now 4 stats as perfect (one went down). Did I use the right berries?

For every berry, 10ev pts go down in one stat. So to be sure, you need 26 berries of each kind of stat to reduce them all to zero. And getting that many will take ages without AR. Now if all the stats aren't maxxed, i.e. can't add any more evs and they are as high as possible, you'll have to do this. And what do you mean by perfect? If more than one stat is perfect (I mean full evs and a helping nature), then it's hacked.

Also, all those things you were listing can be directly altered via pokesav, so the most you can do is be skeptical. Unless you run into an idiot breaking one or more of those restrictions, then it's blatantly hacked.

Is Kabutops worse than Gyarados in battle? They're the only 2 water pokemon guys I like...(I like kabutops more...but I have a feeling gyarados is better lol)

No, I know it's not hacked, since I traded from a good friend who I know does not have an AR. I probably just didn't use enough berries (I only used about 2-3 for each stat).

Kabutops is considered pretty bad. I mean, just look at Kabutops stats, typing, and learnset. It's pretty bad. Google for "pkmn diamond/pearl tier list" and you'll most likely find a good tier list to refer to.

kabutops is in the top 10% for physical attacking pokemon, but unfortunately, he doesn't learn or is able to be taught moves to support his high attack. it's very sad because kabutops has always been one of my favorites.

There's plenty of useful water pokemon with different main roles. If you mean interesting/unique looking, then yeah... I suppose, although I personally think there's plenty of them.

Ya...I meant "look-wise" xD None of them appeal to me really except kabutops

I think I'll go for a Swampert for my water guy if hes good...looks the best of the water pokemon to me besides kabutops and seems like a useful combination too. Is he better than gyarados?

You should be able to tell if you used enough berries... If I recall correctly, in Emerald at least, it gave you two different messages.

If you still had EVs, it was something like: " went down, became happy."

If not, it was something like: " can't go down any more! But became happy" or some such. Is this not the case in D/P? You would want to keep using berries until you got the 2nd message.

For battling, Jolly works well with infernape, adamant works well with staraptor, and modest or timid works well with a roserade, right? Seems logical...but one forum I went to had this crazy list that seemed wrong and said way different stuff o_O.

Yeah, I never got that message, but yeah, you still get it. So yeah, I still need to give him more berries.

I found a really good Adamant Meditite just now at lvl 15, luckily. (meaning high base stats) Umm I don't want to waste him or anything if thats possible (for future battles when I beat the game), and later on I plan on getting berries to lower the EVs (using...semi-legal methods xD) then make my pokemon team to battle with, and I was hoping to use this Medititve>Medicham as part of that team.

So uhh...what I Was wondering was you know when you level up you see +1/+2/+0/+2/+3, etc for the stats on the side of the screen? Well does it matter what, when, and where you fight in order to get the highest values for the +1/+2/etc thing? (Don't take into account EVs here though...like I said I'm using berries XD).

In other words, my question is, can I level my meditite on anything and still get the same base stats not including EVs?

Or in other words again, are the stat gains you see each lvl up in pokemon out of your control?

ya...I'm bumping it lol. Man hate being such a picky player...why can't I just play/beat the game

Since this thread is almost dead and I'm not that good at this game since I just started playing pokemon again, I suggest www.serebii.net forums to get an answer.

ok thanks, lol. Just copied and pasted the post in the "Official help thread" in the diamond/pearl forum part. Wow that site is a pretty big mess though...too many stickies and it just makes you dizzy lol

I got Diamond last week, and am looking for some CAG friends to trade and battle with. (Please PM me if you add me!)

Has anyone else just stopped playing this game? I just all of a sudden stopped, I haven't played in over a week. I think my DS actually died after I left it in sleep mode for too long...

I'll be quitting soon lol. Don't plan on buying both versions...waste of $. Everything is just slightly repetitive for me, and I really think this game is more for kids. I enjoyed it much more then, actually caring about pokemon and what happens to them...and wanting to level on wild pokemon, now I find myself just running away. But either way I'm still playing an awful lot so it will be awhile yet haha
I'm at about 207 hours and I'm still going strong!
wow lol. I think I'd be more into these games but I have a hard time standing portable consoles. I'm more the home console type guy...always have been, but its very nice for trips which is where I get at least 50% of my playtime XD

I think the most hours I've hit is maybe close to 100 on Smash Bros Melee...other than that its probably around 50 or less for longer RPGs (not counting online games though...I play online multi a lot lol)

this is far from the most amount of hours I've put into a game. the most hours I put into a video game was dragon warrior monsters for the GBC, which I put in over 300. I'm a handheld gamer.

Dragon Warrior Monsters! *swoon* That game...oh, how I loved it. I hope, I hope, I hope they bring the DS installment from Japan.

Can't resist...must not...post ...useless pic...

The way you're playing, 207 isnt THAT far from 300 xD. Whats better about handhelds then home consoles though? Or...actually bad phrasing of the question, why would you want to play handhelds at home instead of consoles? I don't get it cause the screen is soooo small, graphics are way worse, and the games available on consoles are sometimes innovative too AND the online is better also. But...ya anyways :cold:

I feel the same way though...with handheld gaming right now. I sometimes have the tv on while I play. I dunno I just feel much comfortable right now playing with my DS than say my Wii or PS2.

I have games like Disgaea, Disgaea 2, Phantom Brave and other like it that I need to play...but I just don't seem to really get myself wanting to play. Yet I'm looking forward to say FFTA2 on the DS. Strange I know.

I think I have around 180+ hrs on Pokemon

I stopped for the most part, and picked up NSMB and Puzzle Quest again - I'm sure I'll go back to Pokemon eventually. I had just worked myself into complete frustration/boredom from EV training half my team that I needed a change of pace.

i've only ev trained one pokemon and that seemed like a chore in itself.suffice to say, I"m now the proud owner of a 400+ attack salamance

Idk, I just grew up on handhelds I guess. I never had the newest consoles or anything, but I always had the latest handhelds, most likely because they where cheaper and you could play them anywhere. growing up, I've owned every handheld atleast once, the only handheld I've never owned was an atari lynx.
i've only ev trained one pokemon and that seemed like a chore in itself.suffice to say, I"m now the proud owner of a 400+ attack salamance
Same thing with my Metagross, I've still got 30-40 more points to get him, but I'll be damned if it doesn't make the difference for battling.

I got 58 hours in and decided to stop playing. My PSP has remained too neglected in face of the games I need to beat on it (Metal Slug, Katamari, Metal Gear PO, Initial D, Gundam Battle Royale). I'd still give Pokemon like a 9.7/10 if I were to review it since it's a perfectly polished version of Pokemon and it's the first game (excluding Xbox live games) I've played this long since....Final Fantasy VII.

One gripe I have though is that there really aren't too many cool new pokemon...or even old pokemon that you can get in this game in my opinion. I've only found 7 so far, and I just beat the 4th badge, that I actually somewhat like and have included in my group of 6 overall, plus a bidoof to use HMs. I remember the other games having much more enjoyable ones...

I looked at the one site too and found out theres only one more pokemon guy I plan on using throughout the game...the other 7 or 8 I kinda like can only be caught at the end-game when you get the national dex and stuff. (I'm not counting transfers from other games though...since this is the only pokemon I've ever owned.)

By the way just wondering, what lvl were your pokemon at around the 4th badge? Right now I have 7 pokemon at like lvl 27 each basically, some a lvl or two higher/lower

Umm ok say I levelled up then its like "Piplup wants to learn a move, but can't learn more than 4 moves. Delete a move to make room for ____?"

If I say NO and make the pokemon give up on learning the move, can I still learn it at a later time from the move tutor?
