If it's an exploit of pretty much any kind, I'd rather not. I don't know what exactly you're referring to, since I just got hooked again a few weeks ago.

If I am not going to play by the rules, I personally feel like "what is the point of playing then?" I have/will make exceptions, I'm sure, if I feel like requirements are unrealistic for a game. But with online trading, I feel like I have a chance to trade for legit event pokemon, legendaries, starters, shinys, etc. Back in the day, there was excatly 0% chance of me getting a legit Mew, so I used a gameshark and caught one.

Thinking back, it's kinda interesting, I only caught one. I could have had an army of mews! :lol:

Anyway, that's how I feel right now.
 
I'll be online for some trading and battling tonight--after 9:30 Central works fine.

If one more person makes it, we could do 2 on 2. Someone else show up! Someone not very good, like me!! :D

That's exactly my train of thought. Specifically, I was refusing to breed pokemon over and over until i got somewhat high IVs. The chances of getting straight 31s are close to nil.

I have never done 2v2 battles, that sounds fun, count me in if there are enough people.

sorry for missing out. :( I feel so bad after not being able to make it the last few times. Once my summer class ends this week, I'll have TONS of time to trade and battle.

I just got called into work, and top that off with this being my last week of class, I'll be out of commission this week.

After this week, I'll be up for a battle whenever though.
 
Just recently started Pokemon Diamond, and I was considering buying one of the GBA Pokemon games from Goozex so that when I have the National Dex, those other-region Pokemon will appear in Diamond.

Couple questions though:

1) Do I have to do anything in the GBA game before I put it in my DS? Like, do I even have to start a save file? Do I have to be at a certain point in the GBA game before the Pokemon from that game start appearing in Sinnoh?

2) Do ALL the Pokemon from the GBA game (with the exception of, I suppose, the big-boss Pokemon (legendarys?) like Deoxys) appear in Diamond once you connect the GBA game to the DS?

3) Are any of the GBA games preferred over the other for this connectivity? Although I'd like to revist Red/Green through the GBA remakes, I suppose Emerald would make the most sense and have the most complete Pokedex, or would it?

Help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Nope it's just as if your character in Diamond robbed your character in RSE at gunpoint. :)

Emerald is the best to start since all three legendary Pokemon are in it and you can choose either Latios or Latias.

Game Freak really tried to include a lot of older gen Pokemon in DP. Unfortunately they come via swarms, in which you get one new Pokemon everyday. You also are given the Poke Radar to hunt the older Pokemon, but I think that is more trouble than its worth (new pokemon are just way too rare).

Migration in my opinion is the best option but you can only do six per game per day, so there is no perfect solution.
 
Thanks for the info, guys. I was looking through my Prima Diamond/Pearl Pokedex earlier and found it detailed the Pokemon you can get from Leaf Green, Firered, and Emerald, but as it's a small number (random encounters, not Pal Park), I'm going to pass. I'm no Pokemon fanatic. I'll be fine if I can't 'catch 'em all.'

Ive been "SR'ing" for a shiny drifloon

since Friday. No luck yet. By my calculations ive reset the game about 50 bajillion times. Its mind numbing. But if i get that drifloon itll have all been worth it.

I've never tried. That's mainly because I know what the odds are, and I get discouraged. :cry:

For what it's worth, here's a few statistics...
In 1k soft resets, the odds that you see a shiny are ~11%.
In 5k soft resets, it increases to ~46%
In 10k soft resets, it increases to ~70%
In 20k soft resets, it increases to ~91%

A few numbers of interest:
At 5678 soft resets, the odds of seeing a shiny are 50.0005%. What this means is after that point, you're more likely to have seen a shiny than not. At this point, you could consider yourself "unlucky" if you haven't seen your shiny. ;)

At 38k soft resets, the odds of seeing a shiny are 99%.
At 57k soft resets, the odds of seeing a shiny are 99.9%

.Hmm.. interesting stats.. Lets see here. I clocked my DS's Soft reset time at about 23 seconds. So thats about 2.6 times per minute, so 57K sr's non stop would take about
28,500 minutes, now thats about 475 hours or almost 19 days of doing nothing but soft resetting non stop. Mother of god....:bomb: If any of my math is wrong i do not apologize. math is a tool of the dark lord.;)

No matter how discouraging i really do appreciate your info though.

You know what else is discouraging? Each soft reset is independent. Any past failures do not imply future success. If you've somehow gotten *really* unlucky in your 57k soft resets, it doesn't mean you're due to get a shiny in your next attempts. Sort of seems like a paradox, but it is what it is. All the probability says is that you had a 99.9% chance of seeing a shiny in those 57k attempts, but you just happened to land in the unlucky 0.1%.

To be fair, it probably won't take you 57k tries. The odds that you get your shiny in 10-20k tries are good. By my calculations, that's "only" about 2.5-5 days worth of non stop soft resets.

I'm out for 2 days guys, going home to see family since they live over 3 hours away an I don't get to see them much. Won't have any access to internet in the time I'm gone. I'll be back on thursday, and I'll have my new team completely done and ready to battle.
 
What does everyone think of a pokemon social group (CAG 2.0 feature)?

Go to your user CP, then on the left click on "Social Groups" and check one out. I didn't immediately see advantages over this thread.
 
I would definitely join a pokemon social group. Question is how many others are willing.

edit: looking at the social groups again, they pretty much are just threads. I agree, really don't see any advantages to those social groups.
