Getting the right nature also makes a huge difference.

Also, I found that when you EV train your 2nd or 3rd team (made), they are way better than your first EV trained team because you know what you're doing by that time.
I never used to EV train, mainly because of laziness and also because I never thought it made a difference. Then I got around to doing it for D/P, and.....wow. I was pretty wrong. Having a Machamp that can outrun your average Alakazam? That's pretty impressive.
That's highly unlikely unless you have a big level advantage. At level 100, a max speed Machamp has 229 speed. A minimum speed Alakazam has 220. Machamp is so slow to start with, it's not really worth it to put EVs into his speed.

44...and I've only had the game for about a week and a half!

I think within the first 2-3 days I sunk in over 25 hours, though 0_0

I don't have my DS on me, so I don't remember how many hours I have. I think it's somewhere in the upper 90's, though. I remember that with every pokemon game, I managed to beat the E4 in less than a week. Hooray for personal goals.

I guess gamestop it doing some tourney thing not sure what you get for showing up since there's zero info on it.

1st prize PBR game and shirt, 2nd shirt, and everyone gets a free pokemon special gift for showing up
I'd try that tourny out, but I don't want to put my social life in jeopardy by being seen in public playing Pokemon.
Hey, if it means getting a free PBR, I'll beat some little kids who think that Pikachu will go all the way.
more likely you'll have to deal with hacked pokemon and all kinds of legendaries
Well, if legendaries are allowed, then that means I get to add Kyogre to my Rain Dance team. More fun for me! And if not, then all I have to do is find a Focus Sash.
You might as well add Manaphy.
I'm not sure that I can get a Manaphy by this saturday, otherwise I so would. I already have a Kyogre, though.

Ok. . . I have a quick question. . . Me and my GF are wondering:

Do you really have to beat this stupid ass Dress up/Act/Dance Minigame in order to fight the 3rd Trainer!?

This is the stupidest edition in a game i've ever seen! I JUST want to play Pokemon! Not putting puffy tails all over my crappy sprites!

And also the puffins, I want NOTHING to do with them! Can I skip all this?!

Do I have to play through those 4 ranks in order to fight the trainer!? Please!

I assume that you have just gotten to Hearthome City, where you are first introduced to contests.

Actually, you're jumping the gun. You don't actually fight that Gym Leader yet. She's #5 on that list. What you wanna do is head towards Veilstone City. That's where the real 3rd Gym Leader is.

Yeah, and Veilstone City is pretty awesome too, it has the large department store, a pokemon massage therapist, and the Game Corner place. :D

Ooo! Thanks alot!

So I dont have to do those stupid contests!?

Yay! :bouncy:
Ooo! Thanks alot!

Yay! :bouncy:
I've only participated in 2 contests ever. Once just to try it out (simply AWFUL compared to how they used to be), and again with a group of friends.
If you really want to win, then use a Wobuffet -_-
For some reason, I could never use Wobbs properly. I guess it's because I kept forgetting about encore.

With the new physical/special swaps, my guesses would get worse.
In what could possibly called an update, Gamestop isn't letting people use legendaries in their tournaments this saturday.
rules are different at every gamestop. you have to call ahead to have even a hope of knowing the rules in advance

Yep, one had lvl 20 pokemon and another I called are level 50 no legendaries and they said could not be rare candied up.
Yep, one had lvl 20 pokemon and another I called are level 50 no legendaries and they said could not be rare candied up.
not like they have any idea if your pokes have ever had rare candies. some stores say they'll be checking your bag, so if you have 90 rare candies, they might dq you. not sure if they're smart enough to understand you can farm rare candies if you have them legitimately though.

After contacting and signing up at a local GS, the uninformed employee told me that they would check people's games, and that you can't "have too many legendaries." When I asked how many was "too many" (hiding my laughter), they said "one."

Nice, I just traded a level 40 Tauros for a level 43 Hariyama (the sumo wrestler one), using GTS. Since Tauros' are so easy to find and Makahitas are so rare, I feel it was a good trade. :)

Dude, anyone else chill with this game?

Like, man, I am only level 20ish right now. You dudes are already kicking ass with Legendaries.

Anyone else relax with this game and play it casually instead of religiously?

Not dissing. Just curious.
Anyone else relax with this game and play it casually instead of religiously?
Is that even possible?

Hey, I don't like Pokemon, but the game formula is just so addicting.

Well, it was obvious that every single person in that tournament for the exception of the three of us that went together (well two...the other did use a Action Replay to level them to 50 with a bonus exp cheat) had all cheated.

How you may ask? For example it seemed you were allowed to use 2 legendaries, which I refused to since well, I think it's cheap to use them in a tournament. Everyone "agreed" not to use them, but guess you can't trust any of them. Anyways, one guys team was nothing but shinies...yes people like my wife are fanatic about capturing shinies and yes they are easier to capture now when you use the poke radar...but this guy had shiny Deoxys, shiny Mewtwo, Shiny Metagross, shiny...well you get the idea.

There were really only 3 kids, the rest well, they sure as hell weren't children. They checked the pokemon but all they checked for were things like: How many masterballs you had (hell you could be lucky with the lotto you know), but if you had lots of masterballs if you threw them away they could participate. I mean the guy I went up with in his 6 man team had a "bad egg" (you only picked 4 pokemon so not like he used it in his main), but where else would you get a bad egg from if not from cheating.

This other dude had like 97 explorer kits...a key item with that much? Yeah and that wasn't a cheat. I still enjoyed playing actually with the little kids, cause they really get into it, and were all about trading and going underground to steal flags heh. Though the actual tournament kinda made me sad that the game was not won by someone who had not tainted his game with a cheating device (the guy who won, his brother wasn't allowed to play, Battle Revolution actually said he wasn't allowed to play...who knows what kind of cheats this guy had used).
I would feel bad/embarrassed beating up little kids in Pokemon face to face :boxing:
but what if they where beating you face to face?

Anybody got any of the starter pokemon from gold/silver? Ever since I started back into pokemon I wish I had those pokemon. If anybody's willing to trade them give me a PM. Thanks.

yeah, so... I won me a copy of PBR.

choice specs mewtwo and choice band aerodactyl accompanied by a soul dew latios and a leftovers tyranitar won me the tourney.

there werea few cheaters and a whole bunch of shinies, and one guy even tried using an arceus in the first round. I got hella lucky a few times and ko'd a team in 2 turns with aerodactyl.

Damn, why is your Aerodactyl so good? What's its level, moves, etc?

yeah double battles. aero ko'd a team in the first turn and then my mewtwo and aero beat down on his remaining pokemon. i think it was a mew and a luxray. i'm playing the gaem so far and the only redeeming thing about it IMO is the better, and more reliable, at least for me, wifi battles. but hey, for a free game, I really shoudn't be complaining

edut:

jolly aerodactyls w/ choice band
rock head ability

earthquake
rockslide
double-edge
aerial ace

it's attack stat is 302 and it's speed is 386. EV training really pays off

I came close to winning with my Rain Dance team. Friggin Milotic was no use to me, though. Kept dying before I could set anything up.

The GS kept changing the rules, too. First they claimed that you could use one legendary, then before the first match starts, they say no legendaries, so people have to re-arrange their teams. Then they start round 1 with a single battle, and then the next with a double battle, claiming that all matches are default double unless both consent to singles. Very frustrating.

One thing I found out about my team, however, is that it works wonders in doubles. I even kinda "cheated" in my second round match by claiming I wanted to do doubles against a guy who I KNOW would've kicked me out in a singles match. But even with things like that, I could do nothing against a Blissey. :(

One of my friends went all the way, though, with the Ninjask/Marowak combo, and nearly won, but lost against the guy who beat me (he also won the whole thing). Still, good times.

EDIT: DarknessBear, I asume you have the egg that was just given to you. It's the baby form of Chansey, and it won't hatch for a few thousand steps. Better to wait until you get a Slugma or a Magmar, since their abilities (flame armor/magma body) cut the number of steps required to hatch an egg in half.
